This isn't a rule, but it should be imo. Any time a player gets a game misconduct after a game ends will be suspended for the next game. Makes perfect sense to me.
-
I can't believe that was called with 2 minutes left in the game.
-
Yeah, he said it right after the triple ot game. He was kind of joking, but he did say it.
-
This coming from the guy with a ufc fight as an avatar.
-
Perfectly stated. Your post reminded me of Marchant saying they get hit harder in practice than they get hit by the Wings.

Here's Kopecky's take on the fight: "He was cross-checking me in front of the net and then he asked me if I wanted to go. I didn't back off from the challenge,'' Kopecky said. "It was a good chance for me to take him (off), and that's what I did.'' Kopecky said he was surprised that Beauchemin punches with his left hand. "I didn't get a good grip right off the hop, didn't protect myself really good,'' Kopecky said. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...cky_will_u.html It sounds like he considered the trade off of getting Beauchamin off the ice before he fought him.
-
He said he didn't realize that Beauchamin was left handed. lol. I bet he won't make that mistake again.

I'd take Getzlaf and Hiller. (I hate to admit it, but I'd also take their top 4 d-men. They'd look good as Detroit's 3-6 d men)
-
I wonder if Draper's absence played a role in his reluctance to change the lines. They're down one center and then to take another one and put him at a wing may have concerned Babcock. I don't know, it's just a theory.

Pens fans, no doubt in my mind. I've read so many comments from them wishing career-ending injuries on Hossa, Ovie, Hartnell, and half of the Rangers team that they have cemented their place as the lowest fans out there. This death threat doesn't really suprise me much considering it's Pens' fans.

Here's an idea, if you don't like the thread, DON'T READ IT. It's pretty simple really. Instead, all you've done is add to the non "hockey talk" by telling everyone about it. Judging from the number of responses so far, I'd say this thread is pretty popular, but feel free to go to a different one if you don't like it.

I don't think there's enough data to support that comment. Since the lockout, one of the three Stanley Cup Champs was a team that used "goonery." 33% That's not a great percentage of the time, but it certainly isn't low enough to prove "Goonery doesn't win cups anymore."

Holland has already stated that the cap will go UP 2 million this year.

There's so much more to the game than points. The guy backchecks like crazy, kills penalties, etc... I agree with Younguns, though, I don't love him and Datsyuk being paired together. To be honest, I'd still prefer to see ZDH against their top line. That line is magic. On the other hand, who am I to argue with Babcock?
-
I'm not really sure what some people are talking about. There aren't many (possibly any) coaches who skate and work their players harder than Babcock does. Just because he's calm and cool with the press doesn't mean he's not a hard %#$ at practice. Don't forget that as soon as the Ducks started losing, players tuned him out and he was fired. I don't see that happening in Detroit for quite some time due to the talent level, which means they will continue winning. However, if they were somehow to become a .500 team, players' attitudes toward him would be vastly different than they are now.

I don't think you can die from an acl injury.

Dear Troll, Here are two stats and I hope you get to read it before you are banned. 11 Stanley Cups. You can spew all the stats about Crosby and Malkin you want, but until they win a cup, it's a useless argument. You also stated in this thread that Crosby isn't a whiner. 52% of the players in an espn poll rated him the top whiner in the game. No one else even came close. http://ballhype.com/story/espn_com_nhl_pla..._players_lists/
-
Let me start this by saying, I CAN'T STAND CROSBY. However, would I want him on the Wings? Absolutely. In a cap-less world, every single team would want the guy. (kid). He would not get the "C" or an "A", though. That whining crap rubs off on your teammates if you are the supposed leader.
-
Until he plays again, isn't a fact that he may never play again? So, technically doggy is right. Unless, of course, you can prove that he definitely WILL play again.
-
I think the league may have accidentally done something brilliant. In surfing other teams' boards, it seems that the majority of the fans are kind of sick of the marketing of the Pens. So, people specifically watch Pens games to see if they lose. It's kind of like pro wrestling, in a sense. The Pens are becoming the heels, that some people love but most people don't like.

WCQF GAME 2 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 0
therock48880 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Not really. Pitt had one gift-wrapped for them last night. Philly was up 2-1 with a little over 4 minutes left in the third. Staal reached down, grabbed the guy's stick that was behind him and pulled it up to his chest. (I'm not exaggerating, he literally pulled it up to his chest) Hooking penalty. Malkin scores, game goes to OT and Philly imploded. That game was theirs. The Wings have easily been the best team so far, although Boston looks pretty good tonight too. -
The guy was amazing. He was a +60 one year. That's unheard of. He was better than Stevens and much better than Kronwall. I mention those two because they're the ones he seems to be compared to most often.
-
He wasn't debating Kopecky over Maltby, he was saying that he agreed with the coaches decision to play those guys ahead of Leino. In other words, how can we sit here and criticize what the coaches do? They are around those guys every single day and we watch them on tv for 2 hours. I'm guessing they have a little better idea of who to play than we do.
-
Why wouldn't he? He's obviously found a cba loophole that they can use until this cba expires. These guys will probably retire before the end of their contracts. Not to mention, the cap will rise over time. In 8 years, a 3.9 million dollar cap hit will not be nearly as big of a deal as it is right now.
-
Lidstrom's contract expires after next season. He's already stated he'd take a hometown discount in his next contract, if he doesn't retire. I would imagine Holland has already discussed this with him. The cap is rumored to be 58 million next year, which is a 2 million dollar increase. In order to sign Hossa there would HAVE to be some trades. Flip has been mentioned in this thread a few times and that makes sense. I would think Lilja would be another one. The problem is, can you trade them and get no salaries in return? I doubt if someone will pick up Flip for 3 million and not require the Wings to take some salary back. My guess is that Hossa is gone, but I hope he'd take about 5 million a year for 10 years to stay.
