That was a seriously big hit. Morrow is really great. I think he'll be a force for several years to come. Hit was clean as well, which is the best part.
-
Hard to say if I'd rank it ahead of the Nash goal or the Toews goal. That it came in the playoffs though, makes it so much sweeter.

I think most of these jokes were old material recycled for this article. All except the joke about wearing an 'A' on all his clothes. I hadn't heard that one before. They're all still funny though!

My guess is Smyth's foot swelled up after taking the skate off. Whatever's wrong with him may not have been evident until then.
-
As opposed to Wilson standing in someone else's shadow, I suspect.

I think a sweep would startle me. I don't expect it. I do expect to win. I figure 5-6 games is likely and, should the Avs get nuts on us, it could go the distance. But.....honestly?.....I never expect the Wings to lose.

There's been no word of any fine. Al obeyed the letter of the (asinine) law.

Doesn't Konstantinov still have a locker?

Pavel's changes this year are ideal because he's playing at the same high level, hitting more, getting in the faces of opponents more and NOT taking any more penalties than he did before.

I dig the poster. TMBG FTW

I'm betting he retires. How old is he anyway? A guy like that, who's played his entire career with one team. I bet he just calls it quits.
-
Definitely the right play. That was very nearly a slam dunk for Feds.

I liked his speed and he hits a lot for a little guy. I also thought he did a good job of creating chances. I'd love to see him stay in but I suspect that once Maltby is healthy, he'll sit.

I have traditionally been a Tootoo despiser but I have to admit that in this series he has been clean and effective. He's scoring, hitting hard, and not doing much in the way of cheap shotting. The Draper thing looks completely unintentional to me and, since Draper himself didn't even feel it, clearly wasn't that big of an issue. If we had more forwards playing like Tootoo, I suspect this series wouldn't be tied.

I'm actually pretty excited about this. It's a great chance to see Helm play on TV and I've been unenthusiastic about Hartigan so far.
-
No surprise here. Philly fans are notorious for being incredibly obnoxious. They won't hesitate to rip their own teams, loudly, if they play badly. Angriest fan base in all sports. It must be something in the water.

Yes, it's possible that I'm crazy and track every Red Wings goal and assist during the playoffs on a white board next to my desk at work. Most of my co-workers have no idea what it is.

Datsyuk has 3 goals and 2 assists while Z has 2 goals and one assist. Dats had a good game last night. Prior to that they were even for points. I'm not seeing this big "Dats has stepped up and Z hasn't" disparity. Z has been a consistent threat.
-
Datsyuk has definitely gotten scrappier and more prone to hitting. I favor this development. It's greatly preferable to the young Datsyuk I watched getting repeatedly pasted by Sean Hill in '02.
-
It's probably hard not to set personal records when you are coming from the New Jersey "We hate scoring goals" Devils.

I really don't see why this guy was fired. He got Luongo for beans and has been incredibly frugal, leaving the Canucks in a position to make a big splash this summer if they see fit. He hasn't really been on the job long enough to prove himself one way or the other. This team didn't lose because of Nonis. They lost because they were hammered by the injury bug all year and the players didn't show up at the end of the season. Nonis is a scapegoat.

I think that will never happen in a million years. There's no denying he's been playing well though. Just look at his point totals in the playoffs. I'm planning to go to work tomorrow and taunt my fellow redwings fan that can't stand him.

Avery was warned by the ref and persisted. That and that alone could and probably should have earned him a 10 minute misconduct. He got lucky.

To me, like lots of people that probably get labeled "anti-fighting" unfairly, this is not a yes/no question. I would say that I advocate the elimination of "certain kinds of fighting". I love when two guys who can really play get into it. I often cite the Iginla/Lecavalier bought from the playoffs a few years back. What I don't like is watching two goons fight for no apparent reason. I also don't like that things have shifted from a fight as a result of a questionable hit to a fight as a result of any hit at all.
