I'd love it if everybody in the Nostradamus Club would actually evaluate his play after he's actually played. Honestly, your ability to read the future in the stars is not fair to the rest of us.
-
This really does not surprise me. Sundin is known for his character and I'm pleased to see him sticking with what he thinks is right and not succumbing to the pressure that was surely being put on him. He'll fight it out with the Leafs to the end of his career and that's just how it should be.

Ericsson was nice to see last night. He would do well with some more seasoning in GR. I see him maybe having a shot next year but I also wouldn't be too sad if he had another year down there. Best to let him develop slowly rather than ruining him by too much too soon. I'd love to see him playing a Pronger-esque role on our team, especially on the PP. Meech has been really good, I think I see him as bumping Lebda next season if he continues to develop well. That assumes, of course, that we don't trade him and that Lebda doesn't do some amazing developing himself.

This season is definitely Hasek's with Osgood's very capable support. Watching Jimmy has made me very comfortable regarding our future in net. The kid's no superstar but he has all the building blocks of a really great goalie. He's still so young. It's nice.

^^ This can't actually happen this season! I want to make that clear before half the board starts thinking it could be the case.
-
I won't lie, half the reason I'm excited about this kid is the fact that he'll now be on the post trade-deadline roster updates for video games. Sue me!

I'm pretty sure that was "fought for us" in the not literal, "got into a fight" sense.
-
Actually, I think it makes perfectly good sense. 1) he wasn't playing and wasn't going to be playing anytime soon. 2) We are probably going to be making acquisitions soon via trade. We need space for that. This gives us needed flexibility. It's that easy. There's no elaborate mystery or cheating of the rules going on here.

Too much money. I pass.

I think relating this to McCarty is premature at best. Mac is still out of shape and not fast enough. Babs says we'll sign him but he also says he's only playing for the Wings if he proves he's capable. I recall a certain Russian in training camp who received the same message and never cracked the lineup. The same could happen to Mac. The difference is that I think Mac would stick it out in GR rather than just bailing were that to happen.

Frankly, if the Stars don't go deep in the playoffs this year, I can see Turco being traded. I personally think they'd be very smart to push for a player like Jokinen (if he's really going to move). That said, I see them as a fragile team as far as confidence goes. Give them some adversity again and I think they may just crumble.

Ellis Claimed By L.A. Indeed they did.

TSN Not this year. Not a lot of details yet. Not sure if this means he's hanging them up or just waiting for the off season.
-
I soooo wish I could have seen this game. It must have been pretty darn exciting.

This is just what I was thinking. Manny could be in trouble. He's got those stubby little legs and all.
-
The "it's ok for us but not for them" attitude is part and parcel of the general lack of respect that led to this hit on Nick. There was a lot of debate about that other incident and certainly no clear consensus that the hit on Naslund was dirty (which is all I'm saying about that). This is about not contributing to the cycle of disrespect just because it makes you feel better for a few minutes.

Let's not be silly about this. Advocating running Sakic is absurd. If you want to complain about lack of respect for Lidstrom and advocate running Sakic we have a word for that, "hypocrite". I'd love to see our old rivalry but we don't need to resort to pure thuggery. I'd settle for another sound whupping for Laperriere. And lets leave Steve Moore out of this. We don't need to rehash that hit or what came after for the millionth time.

As a current Seattle resident (though not for much longer), I have a weakness for Marleau. Ex-Thunderbirds ftw!

I would trade my own mother as well as my left leg without a moment's hesitation.
-
Amen, Harold. This guy has become a whipping boy just because he happens to have played for the other guy during what is now a totally dead rivalry. I hope he makes his comeback but I'm not counting on it at this point.
-
Howard was the best thing about that game. He never really seemed flustered and he was very quick. He didn't seem intimidated by the game at all. It was a reassuring sight.

Rafalski out with a groin injury; Quincey called up
Turkey replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
This is clearly the smart move. We absolutely want Rafalski in tip top shape and there's no reason to have him play. What is Quincey's waiver status? If we bring him up, does he have to pass waivers to go back down? -
My memory of Pavel in '02 is being amazed by his periodic flashes of brilliance but horrified by the regularity with which he got smothered by big D-men. Thank goodness that has stopped happening. Sean Hill pasted him so many times during that series.
-
I do wonder if his latest outburst will force TB to let him go cheaper than they might have previously. They might be in a hurry to get rid of what they perceive to be a bad apple.

Malkin has always been good and is now carrying Pittsburgh with Crosby out. I don't see how you can justify taking him off the list.
