Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby
BlueMonk replied to Finnish Wing's topic in General
I agree. I kind of like it. -
Just sayin'. X2.

Nice win, solid effort all around. Except for the Big Swedish Meatball, the whole team played very well. It's hard to believe, but the player who seems to have the biggest impact on the style of hockey this team plays is Kronwall. When he's not on the ice, they play a conservative, dump and chase game; when he plays, they're much more like the "old" Red Wings.

The Wings are gonna blow the Sens out tonight. It won't even be competitive.
-
And they played football with leather helmets.

Yeah, it's a strange rule. I think it may have actually come up before. I want to say I was watching highlights of the final game of some team's season where they needed 2 points to make the playoffs and tried it because 1 point would have done them no good. I could be imagining things, but I seem to remember hearing about it for the first time that way.

Really. 84.2 Overtime – Regular-season – Extra Attacker - A team shall be allowed to pull its goalkeeper in favor of an additional skater in the overtime period. However, should that team lose the game during the time in which the goalkeeper has been removed, it would forfeit the automatic point gained in the tie at the end of regulation play, except if the goalkeeper has been removed at the call of a delayed penalty against the other team.
-
Actually, the point would have no longer been secured. If a team pulls the goalie in OT and loses, they forfeit the point.

I've decided to count that as a win. Shootouts aren't for real anyway, and the Wings were the better team. Saturday they'll blow Ottawa out at home and we can watch a nice, easy regulation win for a change. Then, on to the Olympics. Can't wait.

NHL officiating rules clearly state that penalties are to be called less often in each successive period. Wait, is that official, or just what really happens in every game? I forget.
-
I'll be shocked if the Sharks win a Stanley Cup with this roster. They're not a smart team and they don't have heart.
-
Meech is solid in his own end, but he's had the puck on on his stick a half dozen times tonight with great scoring chances and he's just helpless in those situations.
-
And nothing has changed to this day. Murphy is in the booth now but he's in the tank by the 2nd intermission and can barely function by the post-game segment.
-
It was great action today. The Caps are a lot of fun to watch.

It's not just about avenging the hit, it's about physical intimidation, pure and simple. Intimidation is a part of hockey. It's a violent sport. If you can deter someone from hitting your players by roughing him up, you win. If he doesn't back down, he wins. But let's watch it all play out and enjoy the show. More confrontations mean more violence, so we all win. Simple.

The Wings played a good game, but the Sharks played like sh**. If I'm a Sharks fan, I'm concerned. They've done this in games against good opponents all season, and it looks a lot like what happens to them in the playoffs every year. The Wings had more time and space than I've seen in a long time. The Sharks gave them a ton of room to shoot.

CHICAGO!!!!

Makeup call. We'll take it.
-
Uh... what? They call that after letting everything else go? The NHL is a joke.
-
I have no problem with the refs not making that call. In fact, I don't think they should. EXCEPT THEY DO ALL THE TIME, SO WHY NOT NOW????

Getting the injured players back seems to have caused a setback. They're trying to score more, taking chances, but they look disorganized. Sometimes, they seem to be getting in each other's way. Pittsburgh isn't a great defensive team, but the Wings looked like they were out of sorts all game anyway. I still think they have a chance to get hot at the right time. Unfortunately, that won't matter if they don't start winning games. The race is too tight to be a .500 team and expect to get in with the competition in the West. Gotta put a winning streak together and soon. Jimmy Howard is playing great. The Wings haven't seen goaltending like this in a very long time.
-
It was a disappointing effort. The Wings were getting in their own way on the ice. Pittsburgh isn't exactly an elite defensive team but Detroit wasn't getting much in the way of chances. I tend to agree with Babcock's assessment at the start of the 2nd period to Pierre: The team is out of sorts now that the regulars have returned. They look like they haven't adjusted to one another yet and the skating and timing look off. I expect that to improve in the next few games. Right now, they look like they've taken a step backwards. As bad as this team is playing right now, they're still hanging around. They do need to start putting together a winning streak, though. This fighting for 8th crap needs to stop.
-
I'm blaming you.

It's gotten so if the Wings have a 2 goal lead late in the 3rd period, I think to myself, "At least they'll get a point."
