Great save!

This should not be a surprise to anyone. Professional athletes are notorious cheaters. In any sport, it's the norm, not the exception. The sister-in-law part is a bit over the top, but otherwise, this type of thing goes with the territory of the lifestyle pro athletes live.

Anyone else find it a little odd what happened after they interviewed Yawney about the 90 minute team meeting? Yawney said everyone was making a big deal out of nothing but Drew Remenda went off on a rant saying it's not nothing, that it's definitely something. Remenda sounded pissed off! Just seemed strange hearing a guy from the team's booth react like that to something someone on the coaching staff said. Can you imagine Mickey reacting like that to something Paul MacLean said, for instance? I can't.

Man, Staubitz lit Tootoo up.
-
I dunno, that was stupid on Upshall's part. He just started cross-checking the Sharks player (didn't see who) and they've been sending just one guy to the box for those lately (as in the Wings-Flames game).
-
My kind of game.
-
Prust and Staubitz now! The Coyotes dressed Fedoruk tonight, too. Hopefully it turns into a massive, bench clearing brawl before it's over.

Gratts lookin' pretty good, eh? Shelley got cut, took a couple big rights. Looks like Shelley took Gratts' gesture to the fans as a diss, though. Good stuff.
-
One word of caution, the Sharks have pulled this "down multiple goals early" act before and things have turned in a hurry.
-
Blake's not a great fighter but he answered the bell for his teammate. Good to see McGrattan back having overcome his personal problems. Gratts has been an elite heavy when he's been on his game.

Nice win, fellas!
-
That's a start! Nice!
-
You'd think so watching this game, but the season stats suggest they're nothing special.
-
Did Z or Dats whiff on that one-timer in the first period? Because that whiff by Z just now was pretty weak.
-
Exactly.
-
The PK was solid.

Terrible execution on the 5 on 3. Good lord.

Hitchcock has made similar statements about the Red Wings after a loss before. When he coached Philly, he said something about how hard it was to play at Joe Louis Arena. Something to the effect of, "When I coached Dallas, it took us years to learn how to even compete here, let alone win a game." I'm thinking it's his way of motivating his team or possibly softening up the Wings in the event of a playoff matchup.

I somehow missed this piece until today. Nice work by the old time scribe, Jerry Green.

Great Aaron Downey Interview w/Intern Mike (Video)

Nice find! Very cool. -
I wasn't able to watch much of the game, but what I saw looked like playoff hockey from the Red Wings. Osgood looked very solid from what I saw. A good road win for sure. My instincts tell me that the Wings' bad losses the past couple weeks can be attributed almost exclusively to their apathy. Teams like Columbus and Nashville playing desperate hockey can roll over any team if their opponent doesn't show up. But when the Wings go to that extra gear, you see what they can do to all these lower seeds.

What a disgusting performance by a bunch of choking dog losers. A 2 on 0 and they can't even get off a shot? Plus all the pathetic shootout attempts. Never mind the seed implications for the Red Wings, I'm talking about what they just did for their goaltender. That poor kid stood on his head and stopped chance after chance, and that sorry assemblage of dogsh** in front of him squandered it. I understand the Sharks are a good defensive team, but that was the worst offensive display I've seen in a long time. They never even really had the puck the whole game. Just occasionally flung a loose puck towards the net. Their PP looked like even strength. What an awful team.

The Red Wings were much better today, especially defensively and on the penalty kill. Chris Osgood played a hell of a game, he really was in excellent form. Now he needs to string together a few games like this. And Datsyuk was great. I still don't expect the Wings to stay ahead of the Sharks for first in the West, but they sure are making it interesting.

Maltby with the cross-check followed by hiding behind the ref. What a warrior.

When the Wings dump the puck in, the only player I ever see go into the corner to go get it is Cleary.
