Like I alluded to before, if anyone is capable of blowing a big lead against Detroit, it's Johnson. Not that these goals have been his fault really, but still, the Wings have always been in his head.

Look at Helm work. Single-handedly making up for the lethargic play of Modano and the rest of the lumps on the ice and making something happen.

That was a terrible call. Detroit getting a makeup for the mistake last game, I guess. One goal and Detroit is back in this game. Pittsburgh should wear down in the 3rd on the back-to-back.

Pretty sad effort so far. I'm hard-pressed to name a player who's bringing it. Helm's one of the few, I guess.

A Nashville ice girl picked up a fish that must have been 5 feet long off the ice. Assuming it was fake but it looked pretty realistic and it was huge.

Don't worry about that. The Wings just need to keep on controlling the play and winning the special teams battle like they are.

The Wings need to get some right-handed shooters. The lack of righties is contributing to the decline of their passing game. This team used to go tape-to-tape like a nobody's business but they're wrong-handed on so many now that they can't get any flow going.

Jimmy has been terrific. The Wings are not moving the puck well. They're not moving well, period. Guys keep falling down. The ice surface may have something to do with that.

Detroit is NOT taking the play to anyone. They're getting beaten up like kittens in a dog fight. The refs aren't calling half the penalties that the Preds have committed.

The lack of response by Detroit is amazing. First of all, none of the Wings have their heads up against a team they know likes to run around. They need an enforcer but we know that's not happening. But players like Abby and Rig can at least get in there and show some kind of heart. Babcock knows this and I expect him to address it during the intermission.

Yeah, and our guys just sit there and take it and keep getting hurt. The best part: Lots of people aren't bothered by this.

These are the times when it's frustrating watching the lack of retaliatory turnabout from the Red Wings.

I've said before that criticism of Eddie O for being somehow biased against Detroit was unjustified. Well, he just proved my point by saying that Datsyuk deserves to be mentioned with all the top players in the league even though he's often overlooked. He also argued that Datsyuk is the greatest Russian player of all time. Jonesy challenged him with names like Fedorov, but he stood his ground.

It may not have decided the game but the Joey flub was a dagger. The team still played a pretty solid road game for a back-to-back on a long western road trip. The Sharks seem to take these games a lot more seriously than Detroit. The Wings let their backup play this one.
