The Wings are playing like this is a regular season game against the last-place team in the Division. Oh.

Jiri Hudler is still struggling but he's trying. He's working really hard but the offense dies the instant the puck touches his stick. He makes bad decisions and doesn't have confidence in his shot. The kid's gotta bury one and get this monkey off his back. If he can regain some confidence, he could go on a tear. Jimmy Howard's looking just so-so right now. He's inconsistent; brilliant one night and mediocre the next. I'd like to see Babcock give more time to Osgood and get a healthy balance going between the two of them. And I'm about done hearing about Quick's performance Monday night. The Red Wings had a lot to do with his inflated shot totals and perfect save percentage. He was good, but not 51 shots and 0 goals good. The Wings played an east-west game and the Kings took away the inside. Babcock said it Monday during the 1st period and he was right. He reiterated tonight before the game that the team needed to do more to prevent the goaltender from taking over the game, like get traffic in front of the net. They didn't do nearly enough of that Monday night, but they got their noses dirty tonight and it paid off.

At least Budd has the excuse that he's 93 years old. I think we can cut him some slack. What's Paul Woods' excuse? He butchers names of both teams nightly. He called Kirk Maltby "Kurt" for the duration of his career in Detroit. During the pre-game tonight he messed up the pronunciations of a bunch of NHL veterans when reading the out-of-town matchups (i.e. Philadelphia's "Scott Hart-NELL"). And that's not even getting into his inability to say consecutive syllables without bridging them with an "uh." Anyway, great win tonight. Pretty solid effort all around and a good bounce back game. The Wings can always count on undisciplined play by the St. Louis Blues and tonight it was decisive. And congrats to Nick Lidstrom!

Do they only hang up the goalie's jersey after a loss? That's how it works on this forum.

It's getting to the point where I almost want to see Hudler on the receiving end of a huge hit. Just to see pain inflicted on him. I think I'd feel better.

I think you're confusing them with another team. Before last year, I don't think the Kings had beaten Detroit in a few years. At home or on the road. It was a really long streak, not sure how many games.

Solid game after a slow start. Despite the 2-0 lead, on a couple of kind of fluky goals, the Wings were getting out-hustled bad in most of the 1st period. After that, they settled into their game. Great night for the top line and Osgood was fantastic.

WIngs have really responded since the first Montreal goal. Only concern now is the Habs getting a wave of makeup calls in the 3rd.

Two straight home losses makes me a *little* bit nervous about the upcoming game I'll be attending. Last season, they lost a ton of home games for lack of effort but I thought they were over that. Now I'm worried it might happen at the game I'm going to.

Two straight games where the Wings can't connect on a solid pass or shoot straight. Team have the flu or something? They don't look right.

11/30 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Sharks 3

This really was a fine win. Even with the bad ice conditions, these two teams put on a good show. The Sharks are one of the few teams that tries to play puck possession hockey against the Wings. They're simply too depleted on the blue line to be able to pull it off successfully right now. The Thornton line is always able to control the puck down low and their PP really scares me. But the Red Wings showed a lot of determination tonight and worked hard winning the physical battles. Eventually, the Sharks looked just worn down. I didn't like the let down during and right after the 4 minute PP but they survived it. Datsyuk had a great game but the most pleasant surprise was seeing Zetterberg look so good. He played like this game was personal for him or something. It's been a while since he was the best forward on the ice, but he was tonight. Z and D made the inexperienced Sharks defensemen look pretty silly.

Atlanta was up for this game (Alan Ladd said so himself in his postgame remarks) and the Red Wings came out flat. This kind of loss was due after they won a few games they didn't really deserve with half-hearted efforts. I'd like to see Jimmy Howard get an occasional game off. Give the kid a rest for Pete's sake.

    Nobody at the Joe

I tried to buy tickets for a game a month away and I couldn't get anything besides upper bowl. The corporations do tend to buy up the prime real estate and I've found it hard to get those seats unless you know someone.

I have tickets to a 5pm Sunday game in December. I hope I don't witness an effort like this. I hope they're in "make a statement" mode that night.

Down 3-1 with a 4-1 edge in PPs that you KNOW are gonna be evened out before the game is over. Ugh.

If their opponents didn't have sticks, the Red Wings would be dynamite with the man advantage.

Now THAT is how you execute on the power play.

11/19 GDT: Wild 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Poor execution on the PP. Can't waste a 5 on 3 like that. The Wings aren't going to score any goals tonight playing like this.

Last game felt like one of those games you have near the end of a winning streak, where the team wins a game it maybe shouldn't have. So far that's how it looks tonight. No puck luck, can't catch a break, they get the lucky goals.

11/8 GDT: Coyotes 2 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

I mean, does anyone have a count of the number of goals Detroit has allowed with <1 minute in a period this season? I'd love to see how it compares to other teams. I'd guess the Wings have already allowed as many goals in the last minute as they did all of last season. It's to the point where when the final minute of play comes, I think to myself, "Don't let in a goal." I thought that just now and the Coyotes scored 2 seconds later.

11/6 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Canucks 6

Man, as well as they've been playing, the Wings are not immune to the "3rd game in 4 nights" syndrome. The ice is completely tilted since the first drop and every race to a loose puck results in it going Vancouver's way.

11/3 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Flames 1

That was a solid 60 minutes from the Red Wings. The Flames played desperate but Detroit still outworked them. The defensive effort was the best I've seen all season. They came out blazing from the start, something we rarely see on these western Canada road trips, and never let up. Even if they lose a game like that, I'd feel okay because they worked so hard. But they got a much-deserved win!

WTF is going on with this officiating crew. What a joke.

I'd rather see blatant spearing let go than watch a parade to the penalty box like this. Just ridiculous.

Has any other NHL team ever had only 1 RH shooter on their active roster besides this one? It's not like it doesn't matter; there are times when every shot is on a Detroiter's backhand and it really makes it hard to generate any offense.
