I have WOW cable and I've been unable to order the Center Ice package because of ongoing "negotiations" that involve the NHL Network. They're not giving me a straight answer about whether it will even be possible to subscribe to Center Ice this season, which makes me furious. I love WOW's service for a lot of reasons, but I like Center Ice too much to accept a service that doesn't offer it. They better get this worked out or they'll lose at least one customer here.

Solid evidence that "hits" is every bit as worthless and uninformative as "game winning goals" in the pantheon of Worst NHL Statistics Ever.
-
Man, you couldn't have picked a worse example of that kind of player than Georges Laraque. Just sayin'.
-
I'm with you, I would have taken him in a heartbeat. Talk about a player who can get inside an opponent's head.
-
Fridge is done. He should never fight again. I love his heart, but his head is made of hamburger now.
-
Yashin would be a bargain. At $50,000/year. Didn't the whole league walk away from him? I thought he signed a deal with a team in Sweden, no?
-
Fills a need on the team and he comes at a bargain price. He's old, but he's just made this a tougher team to play against. With the loss of forwards the Wings have suffered, this was an important move to keep them from slipping from where they were in April and May.
-
I'd love to believe this.

The Wings have lost a lot of size and grit now. Schneider wasn't exactly a physical player, but he at least played with an edge. Lang was a big body, although this past season he was next to worthless. Now Bertuzzi's gone. And Markov may not be back. If that deficiency isn't addressed by the team, I expect them to take a step back this season. Maybe not in the regular season, but in terms of playoff success.

The Wings aren't done dealing. There's a petite, European forward who shuns contact somewhere out there.
-
Condolences to Blues fans.

It won't change until they replace the GM.
-
They need a physical defenseman. Unless they sign Markov, they're not done.
-
I'm fine with this signing. Rafalski is a very good player. My one and only brush with the Stanley Cup was courtesy of him, at a bar in Rochester Hills, back in 2000.

Ducks; A disgrace to NHL? Trend for good ol' hockey going to the

I'm not looking for a goon squad, but I do like the rough stuff and the fights. If you don't, that's your prerogative. For me, the game is less exciting when those things are missing. I love the direction the Wings went in this year, and I was very proud of this year's team. There's a time and a place for respect and playing clean, and there's a time and a place for playing with an edge. -
May's having a great series, my post didn't have anything to do with the goal that scored. The Ducks got him from Colorado and their failure to acquire a more "impact" player was widely disparaged. But he's been a valuable player on this team.

The Brad May signing, mocked by so many... doesn't look so silly now.
-
He's the greatest. I watch the first HNIC intermission religiously just to catch his Coach's Corner every Saturday night, even if I have to switch off a Wings game for a few minutes to do it.

Alfredsson, such a weasel. Should be a fiery third period now!

The Ducks ice a roster full of tough players who hit hard, play physical, drop the gloves and intimidate their opponents. Sounds good to me. Hopefully, it will be a trend. -
I enjoyed the game. Any Stanley Cup Final game featuring fighting majors is worth something. Hopefully the bad blood escalates and they go at it even more in game 4. We have a series now!
-
Hopefully they dress McGrattan and there are lots of fights and bad blood.

Maybe an NHL team would thrive in Hamilton, but this statement needs tweaking. Toronto is a Maple Leafs hot bed. There's a difference. The Hamilton Bulldogs have a dismal attendance record, and they've been a damn good AHL team.
