    LGW Podcast now on iTunes

We should have our podcasts fight or something...not sure how you'd do that, but it would be epic. As long as the LGW podcast doesn't win in 2OT on a shot from the blue line.

    LGW Podcast pending iTunes/Zune Marketplace

We're 7 episodes in to our Blues podcast at stlbluesradio.com. Myself, our lead writer at letsgoblues.com and the owner of bluenotezone.com have teamed up to put together a Blues podcast. After a few weeks, we worked out the technical kinks out (subpar audio the first few weeks) and things are going pretty smooth now, audio is great, etc. After we submitted our feed to iTunes, we were up the same day...but it took another day or so before we were showing up in the iTunes search. The key is to make sure your feed is properly tagged. Good luck with the podcast guys! We have a lot of fun doing ours.

    Red Wings Sponsor?

The Red Wings being sponsored/presented by a company is one thing. But slapping that stupid logo right next to the Wings logo whenever it is used in advertising and marketing purposes, is beyond stupid. I would hope the Blues NEVER do anything this stupid. It wreaks of corporate greed and selling out. They have essentially defaced the Red Wings logo. And then add to that, that Amway is a questionable company in terms of shady business practices that border on being illegal...well...yeah. Even worse. Pretty shameful if you ask me.

    St. Louis Blues slogan

Working hard to get my fill, Everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice, Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on That's the part of the song they are going to play, I'm sure. And of course, they could play the entire song and Blues fans could tweak the words to one part..."Born and raised and F*ck Detroit!"

    You can't let this happen.

I'm gonna toss in the Blues logo as one of the best. Maybe I'm biased, but I think it's an excellent logo. A few years ago, another site did an 8-week long bracketed voting contest for the best logo in the NHL. Montreal won...Blues finished 2nd. http://nhllogos.blogspot.com/2007/10/result-canadiens-vs-blues.html (images aren't showing now though) Anyway... Montreal St. Louis Detroit Chicago Toronto (the modernized version) Boston Edmonton Calgary New Jersey Philadelphia Tampa Bay (new one) ...all very good logos.

"No Respect For "Number One" Goalie

Ummm... First you said Howard played good last year. and... Then you said he often had s***ty games. and... Then you said he had a crap GAA. That doesn't make any sense.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

Whoops... I reread what you initially said...my mistake. I misread it the first time. Anyway... It was a game day thread, blues vs. wings...you're a wings fan, I'm a blues fan. It was my take on the game, how I was feeling. That's all. No. Best win vs. the Wings during the regular season in...well...forever...that's for sure.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

I've been a member here 6 years longer than you...that's who I am. Again, not trying to gloat about the game...just giving one Blues fan's perspective. Gloating would be stupid, considering we're going to miss the playoffs and you guys are a cup contender. From a Blues fan's perspective, it was just nice to see based on the history between these two teams and how disappointing this season has been for Blues fans...that's all. Hopefully next year this Blues team will be better. They should be...but that's easy to say.

3/30 GDT: St. Louis Rams 10 at Detroit Lions 3

Meant to comment in here yesterday...didn't have a chance. I gotta say that was the most satisfying regular season game vs. Detroit I have ever witnessed. All of the frustration felt from previous seasons of domination by the Wings over the Blues seemed to be lifted. If the Blues had won 2-1, it would have been enjoyable, no doubt...but it wouldn't have done much otherwise. This was a drubbing, a massacre, a rare/goofy happening that you just don't see very often...and I certainly didn't expect the Blues to dish it out to the Wings right now. This is one that you just don't forget. Most Blues fans were thinking it could have been a 10-3 beat down against us, especially with Oshie out and Perron still hurt. But wow...that couldn't have been more wrong. Not trying to troll here, or rub anything in (which would be stupid considering the standings). You guys just need to understand where I'm coming from with this. Anyway, you guys have the last laugh since you'll be in the playoffs...a position Blues fans wish their team was in. No offense intended, but this win felt great...and almost made up for a disappointing finish to the season...almost. If a 10-3 win had come against Columbus or another insignificant team, it wouldn't mean a whole lot...but because it came against Detroit, in Detroit... that's what made it memorable. True satisfaction won't come until the Blues knock the Wings out of the playoffs...someday. Until then, this game will have to do. Good day fellas.

    Blues/Avs make big trade

So far so good. The more I think about this trade, the more I like it...especially if Shattenkirk turns out to be for real. Because right now, we got a defenseman that is playing better than Johnson, plus we got Stewart...for Johnson and McClement. With all of the parties being very young, this trade could go either way...but so far so good for us. EJ was having a down year, but I liked him. He has tremendous puck skills, it's just never came together for him this year...and he's been a liability in the defensive zone. But with all that said, he's very young and his best years are ahead of him. But the Stewart, McDonald, Backes line looked great. Five goals last night.

    Blues/Avs make big trade

I'm shocked. I am not a fan of moving Johnson. He is having a down year, but he was supposed to be a pillar of defense with Petro on this team for the foreseeable future. But Stewart is a nice pickup and from what I read on Shatenkirk is pretty good...really good actually. Great offensive numbers for a rookie in only 36 NHL games. McClement is a non-factor throw in. I really don't like a 1st rounder going their way. They shouldn't have had to throw that in. We'll see how it goes.

    Eric Brewer to Tampa Bay

Uh, no. For 95% of his time here, he was pretty bad. And it really had nothing to do with situations and matchups. He would just screw up routine stuff...bad passes, mishandling the puck, failing to clear the zone too often. I can't tell you how many times he'd mis an assignment in front of the net and have it cost us a goal. He'd get booed in his home rink...he was just bad. This season he started off better, but has regressed lately again. I think the Blues sold high. His trade value since he has been here has never been higher. He wasn't a bruiser, he didn't throw his weight around, he wasn't offensive minded, he wasn't a rah-rah leader, he wasn't fundamentally sound, he didn't lead by example on the ice, he wasn't vocal. As a captain, you have to be at least one of those...and he was none of the above. Blues fans are rejoicing right now that he is gone. There was some fear that he would be re-signed in the offseason. I'm happy we got something for him. Yzerman just got schooled. Brewer peaked back when he was in Edmonton and was on Team Canada.

    The 2012 Winter Classic

A few of you have mentioned the Blues as a guess...which would be awesome. They are a decent choice since they are a good young team and should be on the rise in the league, but I think they need to actually be a playoff team before they are picked. But if they ever do get to play in the Winter Classic, I doubt it would be held here in St. Louis. It's not a sure thing that the weather would be cold enough to sustain the ice. While the temperature here in the winter can be balls cold, it can also be mild at times as well...and it can vary from week to week. Over the last 16 years on January 1st, in St. Louis... Avg. high temp: 42 degrees Avg. low temp: 25 degrees 4 times the temperature was over 60 degrees 11 times the temperature was below 32 degrees As cool as it would be to hold it in Busch Stadium, I think it would be too much of a gamble for the NHL to hold the Winter Classic in St. Louis. I understand that it can be a little above freezing and the ice will still be ok, but there is a 25% chance the temperature will be over 60 degrees...which would be a disaster. If I could pick a team for the Blues to play in the Winter Classic, it would be either the Hawks or the Wings. I don't see any other matchup being "Winter Classic" worthy for the Blues, unless another rivalry sparks up with some other team in the next couple years.

12/15 GDT: Blues 2 at Red Wings 5

I wish the Blues weren't missing half of their lineup for this game. Usually I am all jacked up about a Wings-Blues matchup, but I am not optimistic at all about the Blues chances in this one. No Oshie No McDonald No Perron No Polack No Pietrangelo Probably our three best forwards and our two of our three best defensemen are out. And to make matters worse, Brewer is healthy. Hopefully Halak can pull a Quick and stand on his head...now if the forwards can just manage one goal... It wouldn't surprise me at all if Detroit wins this one 6-1. Hope I'm wrong.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I wasn't "celebrating". I was commenting in a thread THAT A WINGS FAN STARTED. Don't lecture me on something I didn't do.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

Yes, I'd love to hear more about how many cups the Wings have won, how good they've been and their superb record over the past 15 years in a thread entitled: "Why is St. Louis doing so good?" .
  18. cprice12

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I'm not forgetting anything. I am well aware of their offensive problems. They've had scoring problems the past couple seasons. Ownership knows that they will have to make a move to pick up some more offense. My guess is they are waiting to see how good the younger players are going to be to see exactly what they need to pick up. And Perron, Oshie & Co. have all gotten better over their first few years in the league...and this year is no different, they are better than the year before. Once this team establishes itself as a legitimate playoff team, I can see them making a move. The Blues are a very young team and their best players should still have their best years ahead of them (Johnson, Perron, Oshie, Pietrangelo, Backes, Berglund, Polak, Halak)...and throw D'Agostini into the mix who has been a great surprise. Talk about flat out stealing a player from another organization...we should trade with Montreal more often. Our last two acquisitions from Montreal have been D'Agostini and Halak...for essentially nothing. The loss of Oshie for at least 3 months really stings. He's the most dynamic and versatile player on the team. And it might not be a huge deal had the Blues not already been hit hard with the injury bug. Perron, Carlo, Jackman, & Polak are already out with injuries. Within a few games they lost a bunch of good players. But the last few losses aren't overly surprising. You can only lose so many players and still play at a high level. Detroit knows this because of their injury issues last year. They flirted with missing the playoffs for most of the season until they got healthy late in the year. Hopefully they can play .500 or better hockey until they get some of their players back.

    Play-by-Play Announcers

Best all time is Dan Kelly....no question. There's Dan Kelly, and then there's everyone else.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I could care less about the blowout loss. s*** happens. It was just one of those games. What matters is Oshie's broken ankle, and how the team responds to the bad loss. If they treat it like an ordinary 3-2 loss and come back and win tonight, then no big deal...they'd still be in first place even if Detroit wins tonight. 8-1 or 3-2...it's still just one loss...as long as it doesn't start a losing streak. We'll see how it goes. But yeah, losing Oshie could be a big deal.

Blue Jackets vs Blues Gets Nasty...

Did you guys even watch the game? Wait...based on the comments, of course not. The Blues weren't aggressive at all...kind of disappointing actually. All of the penalty minutes started to come when a cheap shot (interference hip check) was dished out to Oshie. Backes came to his defense and Oshie went to grab a guy and Oshie and his guy fell backwards, breaking Oshie's ankle. Then a careless high stick cut Berglund pretty good and he had to go to the locker room. Not only were the Blues getting their butts whooped in the game, but Columbus was knocking off Blues players with cheap shots and high sticks. So yeah, some players took offense to that. That's when things started to get rough...the penalty barrage was instigated by Columbus. The Blues looked apathetic in the game until then. You guys act like the Blues are the only team in the NHL that picks a couple fights if losing by a few. Every team does this to try and change the momentum and fire up his team. And this used to happen A LOT more often that it does today. That's just part of the game fellas...always has been, and it certainly isn't something exclusive to St. Louis.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I hope that's as detailed as Babcock gets for his pre-game preparation.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

What? They've played quite a few good teams so far. They've taken 3 of 4 points from Chicago They shutout Pittsburgh They beat Philadelphia And when nobody could beat Nashville, the Blues gave Nashville their first regulation loss of the season...and they shut them out in the process. I'm looking forward to the game vs. Detroit next week. Should be a good one.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I love those jerseys. I have one in my closet that I break out once every blue moon. (see what I did there?) I miss 'em. But I miss most of the old jerseys from back in the 80's when I really got into hockey.

Why is St. Louis doing so good?

I found it funny that the clip that was posted initially was from 13 years ago. So...THAT'S the best YOU'VE got? (or whoever posted it) If you're going to knock my 19 year old clip, the 13 year old clip needs to be knocked too. You can't pick and choose...well, I guess you can because you just did...but I don't have to like it. Besides, what goes around, comes around. The Blues dominated Detroit for years. So much so that even after 15 years of dominance by Detroit over St. Louis, the Blues STILL have a winning record all-time vs. the Wings. However, the Wings no longer seem to have the Blues' number and, correct me if I am wrong, but St. Louis has won the season series against Detroit the past two years. Now the Blues just have to come out on top in a playoff series against the Wings...they're due. And for the 10th time...it was a joke. In other words, not to be taken seriously. And if you think about it, it is a backhanded compliment...so just roll with it. I make a one word joke and the comments flood about the number of cups this and the number of cups that. Nah...no inferiority complex here. Carry on...nothing to see here. Stop it...you're killing the vibe we have going.
