    Blues have re-signed Keith Tkachuk

I think you are a little late with that realization. Assuming the Blues build on how they played after Murray took over last year (which was quite well), yes...they should be decent. But they are still rebuiding.

    Red Wings rivals?

Well, for starters...you're wrong. The Blues have two division titles since 86-87, one of which was the President's Trophy...and they finished better than the Wings 4 times. Soooo....while Detroit has indeed owned us...it wasn't quite as bad as you say. And Detroit hasn't won the division every year in the last 20...so to say that "Detroit's only allowed the Blues one division title in 20 years", is quite arrogant...and just plain wrong The losses in the playoffs still sting. Detroit's day will come. Remember '92. Apr 4 Detroit Red Wings 6 3 at St. Louis Blues Apr 6 Detroit Red Wings 2 4 at St. Louis Blues Apr 8 St. Louis Blues 2 5 at Detroit Red Wings Apr 10 St. Louis Blues 3 4 at Detroit Red Wings Apr 12 Detroit Red Wings 1 6 at St. Louis Blues Apr 14 St. Louis Blues 3 0 at Detroit Red Wings Apr 16 Detroit Red Wings 2 3 at St. Louis Blues Bravo. Someone gets it.

    Red Wings rivals?

To be fair...the Wings didn't "mop the floor with the Blues last year". The Blues did quite well against the Wings last season and were over .500 vs. them....and won in Joe Louis twice. And intense hatred doesn't have to go both ways for their to be a rivalry. "intense hatred" that goes both ways takes a rivalry to a new level, like the Sox and Yankees. There are rivalries, and there are intense rivalries. The Wings and Blues have plenty of bitter history between them. It's not our fault if some of you guys don't remember or appreciate it. (and FYI...the Blues own the all-time record vs. the Wings...even after dominating the Blues for the past 10 years...well...except for last season) The Blues look to be on the way back up as they rebuild their organization under John Davidson. Maybe that will make the Blues-Wings rivalry more interesting for you guys when the Blues are back in the playoffs and are challenging for the division again. Hopefuly that is sooner rather than later.

    Bertuzzi's 4 minute double minor

Conspiracies??? Biased calls??? You guys are fighting for the top spot overall in the NHL. Boo Hoo. Quit whining. It's annoying. Spoiled brats.

    Blues goaltending

How am I trying to start anything? You must have me confused with someone else. It happens. If you post like a ***, don't be shocked if you are called one. (but I don't think that's common practice over there...at least not that specific term) Pretty simple really. And there are a handfull of Wings fans over there that have Wings avatars, sigs and whatnot. And you can blame some of your fellow Wings fans if the Blues fans there have a short fuse with new Wings fans. The 80% of Wings fans that act like fools at letsgoblues.com give the decent 20% a bad name...and I'm being generous.

    Bertuzzi's 4 minute double minor

Hopefully this is just the beginning. The Blues have laid a solid foundation for next year. A good system that has this team playing good hockey, good young talent on the current roster, some solid veterans, depth in goal and a few excellent prospects coming up next year...plus a lot of draft picks coming up. We'll see.

    Bertuzzi's 4 minute double minor

Bertuzzi high sticked Backes in the face. Backes was bleeding...and it wasn't just a scratch...there were some drops on the ice. That's an automatic 4 minute penalty if the ref feels it was unintentional, and a 5 minute penalty if the ref feels the player was blatantely careless with his stick. It doesn't matter if it was accidental or not. You have to be in control of your stick at all times (except on the follow through of a shot...a high stick doesn't apply in that situation). Those are the rules...and they have been that way for a long time. It was the right call. The rain of boos at the Joe made me roll my eyes and shake my head. He was high sticked...he was bleeding, the ref saw it and called the penalty. What's the problem?

    Blues goaltending

Hmmm...and you think this is actually believed? It's just lame BS trash talk. Besides...after reading a couple threads here today...there is all kinds of stupid anti-Blues namecalling going on (Backwash, etc.)...not that I really care, but since you brought up senseless name calling... pot, meet kettle. Here's the deal... We've had many members of many other teams join our site. The fan base that we have experienced that have the greatest percentage of tools, are the Red Wings' fan base. I'm not saying all Wings fans are morons. But it's a lot. A lot more than any other team that we have seen. (Nashville fans seem to be a close 2nd though) Blues fans, in general...don't like the Wings or their fans. And we have our reasons...some damn good ones. Sorry. But that's the way it is...and it isn't going to change. I didn't say you said it...I quoted someone else. Read it again.

    Blues goaltending

Sorry...I can't let that one go. If you show up at letsgoblues.com trolling and looking for a fight, you'll get one...oh boy will you get one. We're just defending our turf. And I'll usually let those idiots post for a while to expose excatly how stupid they are...and we'll laugh at them for a while...then I'll just ban them when we have had our fun. Is that childish? Maybe. But they are the ones looking to stir stuff up...on a Blues site. If you are a Wings fan and honestly want to talk hockey and not there to stir stuff up, you'll be fine....and you'll just get some good natured ribbing. We have a handfull of respectable Wings fans that post...and they have even been embarassed at the flood of idiot Wings fans that have come over just to stir stuff up. And I don't recall ever altering a post of anyone, except to remove objectionable content. So you would be wrong on that one. Any other questions? Prove it. Quit whining. Score more in regulation if you want to win and not take it to a coin toss in the shooutout. Winning the season series vs. the Wings is a nice consolation prize to not making the playoffs. It seems the days of the Wings dominating the Blues are coming to an end. We'll see how things go next year.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

Where do you get this stuff? You'll find nobody on our forum that is "so proud" of that playoff streak. Sure, making the playoffs was nice and there are some great memories...but nobody is upset about "the streak" being broken. Blues fans are actually pretty excited about the future with some good young talent on the club, some good young talent ready to come up next year, and a lot of draft picks this year. The future looks good if they can draft well this year. And you laugh at the Blues not making the playoffs for two straight years... Yeah...that is quite hilarious. Two straight years...wow...that's unacceptable. How embarassing. But, hey...whew...hold on, let me catch my breath....I'm laughing too hard. Ok...whew...all right... you know what's even funnier than the Blues last two seasons? The Wings' streak during the late 60's, the entire 70's and early 80's where they only made the playoffs twice and only won one playoff series in that time which covered 17 years?!?!? They missed the playoffs 15 times in 17 seasons...now THAT is impressive. But yeah...go ahead and poke fun at the Blues for missing the playoffs two years in a row. That's funny too I guess.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

Bloosers? Yeah. Typical childish post. Who is showing their idiocy now? Please...I'm not ripping on anyone except Corson. You're reading stuff into what I was saying. All I said was that Corson should have scored there. That's all. And you can't objectively say otherwise. Corson's choke-job was the reason Yzeman had a chance to score his goal later in the game. (and just to be picky, Yzerman didn't "steal the puck" from Gretzky. Gretzky misplayed it, it went off of his stick and slid over to Yzerman.) I'm sure you'll get over it. Would you like me to supply you with their IP addresses?
  12. cprice12

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

You misquoted me. I said "should have won". OT...Corson...open net...hit the post. Hence...."should have won". Call that whatever you like, but I call it having the series on his stick and not scoring a goal he should have scored.
  13. cprice12

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

Yeah, God forbid anyone attempt to check Yzerman without it being an attempt to end his career.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

The lower bowl is mostly corporate tickets that go unused, and that is what you see on tv. I'm not saying it would be sold out if the corporate tickets would be used, but there would be a lot more fans there. It's been talked about a lot this year. I've been to 7 or 8 games this year, and the upper bowl is usually filled or close to it. You don't see the upper bowl on tv. Attendance has been bad this year, but, to be fair, it has been much better lately. This happens when teams struggle. It happens in every sport. You guys should know this better than me. Remember the "Dead Wings" era? You couldn't give away tickets to a Wings game for almost 20 years.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

I find that very hard to believe. In fact, I don't believe that at all. Montreal is insane about their hockey. They have the most passionate and opinionated fans in the NHL. Monteal has a much, much, much more storied and rich and successfull history than Detroit. They have a lot to be proud of. If you are going to bring up "a great legacy" in a debate against a Habs fan, you will lose every time. That's all well and good...but you can't say you were the best if you didn't win the cup. It just sounds pathetic. Not long ago, the Blues won the President's Trophy...but they didnt' win the cup. They weren't the best that year. So you think they are wrong? You think Bertuzzi was the best acquisition of the draft, and the Wings did the most for their team at the deadline?? Sorry. Wrong. I'm bitter? Not really. I'm just not limiting the comparison between the two teams to the last 10 years. Why stop there? Because it's convenient for your side? If you guys can say the Wings owned the Blues over the past decade, then I can say the Blues owned the Wings over the last 40 years total. But a lot of you guys wouldn't know that because you didn't start following the Wings until the mid 90's. Things were quite different before then. Yup, that was the way it was. And I've seen some of those games where the Blues went to the finals. While the Blues were an expansion team, they had some great players and gave Boston and Montreal all they could handle. Many of the games went to OT. But if you want to get picky... Before expansion, winning a cup with only six teams in the league was...well....let me put it this way.... Four teams made the playoffs....if you won in round one, all of a sudden, boom, you were in the finals. Wow. Every team that was in what is today wrongly known as, "the original six" has a number of cup victories during that era. That says something.

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

THIS is a perfect example of why Blues fans hate Wings fans. Comments EXACTLY like this. If you guys can't recognize this...well...sorry.
  17. cprice12

Why do Blues fans hate the Redwings so much?

So...let me get this straight. Despite not doing much of anything in the playoffs the past few years...you say the Wings were still the best, eh? That's pathetic. It's one thing to say you are the best when you win the cup....but to say you are the best in years when you don't win the cup? What are you smoking? Wait...you just said you were the best. Now you say you are the 3rd best? Which is it? Really? Hmmm...gee...all of the hockey talk on Toronto's Fan590 and XM Home Ice radio haven't mentioned Detroit as the big winners on deadline day. They are saying the Blues did the most to improve their club. But hey...I'm just passing along information. Far be it for me to get in the way of a good homer statement. And FYI, Bertuzzi hasn't done much of anything since the Moore incident. Maybe he'll get his head out of his ass in three weeks when he is able to play....but don't be surprised if he is a big disappointment. Heh...that doesn't surprise me in the least. And one more thing... I hear quite a bit of talk from Wings fans about how Detroit has owned the Blues over the last decade...which is true. But it's funny how the all-time record is never brought up by Wings fans. As much as Detroit has owned St. Louis over the past 10 years, the Blues still own the lead in the head to head series. The Wings were the Blues ******* before the 90's. Just sticking up for my team. Sue me. Go Blues.

2/8 GDT: @ St. Louis Blues, 8:00pm EST

Hmmm...on the contrary... Based on the comments in here, I'd say news from around the league isn't able to penetrate the walls of this forum. That's fairly obvious...but not surprising at all. The Blues have played Detroit well this year and have one of the best records in the league since Murray took over. Beating the Wings now isn't the shock that it would have been early in the season or last year. Come on...pay attention people. They might not make the playoffs...they dug themselves too big of a hole early in the year. But they have been playing good solid hockey for quite some time now. They are 15-6-2 over their last 23 games...which includes wins over Detroit twice, Dallas, @ San Jose, @ Anaheim, @ New Jersey, Colorado twice, Buffalo, @ Pittsburgh, and a couple OT games vs. Nashville. Just sayin'.
