It seems teams are banking on the cap skyrocketing up again next year, because $5 million a year should get you a 30 year old center, not an about to be 36 year old one.

For some odd reason this reminds me of the Ken Wregget signing back in 99 as I doubt he will be here for more than one season and will see more than 15 games. I do believe Kenny said something along the lines of carrying three goalies next year, or perhaps that was only if Hasek was to return. Could be mistaken though.

There is no way that an award should be named after Gretzky BEFORE Howe gets an award, and with the way the NHL awards is set up to be named after old timers I would say its more than likely that Gordie gets it named after him (if they were to do this). But if we all had our ways every award would be named after a Red Wing.

The Jack Adams Award to me is one of the worst awards in the game, as the coach who's team wins the Cup almost NEVER win the award. Kind of like saying that the coach that got a 20+ point rise in the standings is worth more than the coach that led his team to Lord Stanley. They should change the wording of the award from "CoTY" to "Coach who had the best improvement out of his team".

Ironic, the team that sucked it up the first half of the year and storm into the playoffs only to lose in the first round gets the coach of the year, while the team that was the best team in the league throughout the year and wins the Stanley Cup gets the shaft....
