    Thank you, Matt

Another great year. Another reason to be proud to be a Wings fan. Thanks Matt.

    Marc-Andre Fleury

Fleury was by far the best player on the ice last night. Now repeating that performance, or playing even a touch better if the Wings play "their" game, for 2 more games? Unlikely.

    Knee on Knee

By the time the 3rd period came about, I had given up on any calls going Detroit's way. The numbers alone, do not tell anyone the whole story. As laughable as it was to hear Therrien ***** about our guys obstructing etc earlier in the series, it is laughable the amount of calls Pittsburgh hasn't been called on. And I LOATHE to ***** about referee's calls most of the time. When I read different newspapers online and hear the talk about how POOR the officials have been - a consensus really - how can anyone who has watched many playoffs games disagree. Oh well, Crosby & Co. will soon be home doing chores with the girlfriends/wives - while we bask in yet another win in the continuing saga of The Mighty Red Wings vs. just damn near everyone else. Go WINGS!!

Getting a little nervous, Detroit fans?

Hey, the thread starter made me laugh a little. Pressure has BEEN and will continue to BE on Pittsburgh. It's lose and go home. Even if the Pens squeak out a win tomorrow, i'm not all that concerned. There is NO way God's team will lose another game on home ice. And as much as every is on Crosby's yknow what, he hasn't led the Pensguins anywhere yet, and doesn't look ready to. Cut through the bulls***, he has been a non-factor. Just like everyone says Malkin has been. Either tomorrow, or Saturday - when i'll be surrounded by ALOT of non-Wings fans at a huge BBQ, the Wings WILL bring Stanley home where he should've been last year.

Okay, I'm officially sick of it

Excellent posts!! That's what the NHL gets for installing an American, with zero hockey knowledge in the position of damn Commissioner. Yeh, he was real great as basketball Comissioner, huh? What other job do you get with NO experience, or a clue as to how to do it? Yeh the owners [some, not all] love him because he's a great lawyer, I guess, but is it any wonder the league is turning to silly gimmicks etc, in HOPES of attracting more fans - which ain't happening!!

    The Positivity Thread

This is what we Wings fans do. If we don't win every playoff game or our goalie doesn't get a SO, we ***** and complain, and start talking about who should sit, which lines we should put together etc. Relax. No matter what crap the papers print today, the reality is this Pens is nowhere near as good as everyone was telling us all playoffs. In mere days, the confetti will be falling at Joe Louis, and we will all be drunk and hugging strangers celebrating. Why would anyone feel down after last night's game. It would've been nice to go up 3-0, but when you consider we played like crap last night from puck drop, while the Pens threw everything at us, including getting some lucky bounces, i'm not sure what's there to be worried about. Marc-Andre Fleury and Crosby said it best after the game when those boneheaded announcers were practically drooling over both of them with excitement, that it's a win. A start. Their faces showed it all!! They know they were LUCKY last night. Good luck with that happening again Saturday.

LILJA - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Lilja AND Stewie sucked last night. The Pens can talk all they want, Therrien can talk all about the bulls*** calls he ain't getting ... blah blah blah .. we beat ourselves last night. From the opening faceoff, i'm not sure what team that was, but it sure as hell wasn't our Red Wings. The Pens will most definitely face a whole other team on Saturday.

Okay, I'm officially sick of it

It's simple really. Crosby is Canadian. Malkin, Zetterberg & Pavs are not. I almost threw up last night after watching all these "experts" on every channel go from saying last week "The Wings are too strong. No-one can stop them. Top to bottom they are solid", to "Crosby and the Pens are back. And we have a series." That's the best the Pens have to offer, while we played like crap and out of sync from puck drop to final horn, and the Pens are BACK? Hahahahahaha. Too funny. Good luck with that.

  11. motorcitykid

    lol @ Therrien's press conference.

You really want to get into a debate on the slashes, trips, holds, goalie interference and cheapshots going on Mr. Therrien? Give me a f***in' break. Trying to light a fire under his guys and/or deflecting attention away from them in what have been two THOROUGH beatings already is hilarious. But straight up lying makes you seem pathetic. And also, how about getting off the bandwagon of pro-Crosby idiots who REFUSE to be truthful. Crosby has been INVISIBLE in this series. His whining - not soo much. Yet we keep hearing and reading about how Evgeni Malkin is to blame for the Pens being down 2-0. Their captain? Sssh. He's THE future of the game. Off-limits. Pul-leeze!!!!!!!
  12. motorcitykid

Gary Roberts the spark Pens need?

Great role player. He can score a little, even this late in his career. He singlehandedly changed the way the Calgary, and especially Toronto and Florida players incorporated fitness into their routines. He is known very much for bringing blenders into the dressing rooms and using protein powders and bars etc to give guys an extra boost in their training. He can come across as a little surly from time to time, but make no mistake he is a HUGE guy to have in your room, who gives his all and brings that veteran leadership. Regardless, Pittsburgh simply will NOT deny us Cup #11 ... 3 more W's and Lord Stanley will return HOME!!!
  13. motorcitykid

    Perhaps experience matters after all.....

Of course experience matters. I'm shocked by some of what i've read about how the "youth" of Pittsburgh will win over our "old, veteran" team. Pul-leeze! Average ages, I believe were 27.8 for Pittsburgh and us at 31.5 or something close to that. In any case, who cares? I've never been a big believer in those type of numbers. The media acts like the Pens are all 20 year olds, and we're a bunch of 38 year olds. And THEY'D STILL give 'em the better odds. One game does not make a series, but i'd really like to see what the Pens have to offer next game. When the Mighty Red Machine shows up to play, no-one can stop us. That's why we've been the most dominant team [maybe next to the New England Patriots] in all pro sports for umm, how long now?? So many wins, so many titles, I forget. But watch the Pens win a game and listen closely to the TALK you hear. Wings were dominant last night, everywhere. And this was without our big guys Pavs, Hank dominating on the score sheet. Enter Mule likely Game #3 and then ... And let's not forget: OZZIE !! OZZIE !! OZZIE !! OZZIE !! OZZIE !! OZZIE !!

    Should we lose game 6....

2 things I hate: Fairweather fans and talk of swapping goalies for no apparent reason. Yeh, that's the problem. Ozzie has stunk it up the past two games. Yeh, we would've won if Dom had been in there. Blah, blah, f*n blah .... #30 has been huge, HUGE, HUGE for us all playoffs. Barring an _ _ _ _ _ _ , Dom will hold the Cup in a few weeks coming off the bench. This thread sucks!

Pens fan here...first post. NO SMACK!

Smile Nick!! Marian Hossa only THINKS he's a playoff performer ... I think we all know his previous resume. Zzzzzzzzz. And I just can't take anyone serious who says Datsyuk and Zetterberg are NOT the best 2-way, most dominant players in the league.

WCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

Wings know the opportunities they let slip away. It's been a tough few games when you have to beat both the Stars AND the refs. Tonight the Stars return to their wives ... *cough cough* *clears throat* "Naa nah nah nah .. nah na nah nah .. .. . .. "
  18. motorcitykid

    Are we in Trouble yet?

Panic? I get so tired of seeing these threads after a loss. No matter where you turn, God forbid we lose a game, it's "what's wrong with the Wings?". We were given no chance when the playoffs started. Then everyone jumped on our bandwagon the deeper we went. Now, today, it's time to make HUGE changes because we are on the verge of losing this series - to hear the f'n media tell it. Puh-leeze! Homer's "non-goal" in Game #4, as well as the phantom interference call on Pavel later on, played a huge part in momentum for the Stars. Had those goals counted, it be a whole different story sitting here Sunday morning. Yesterday, for some reason, this team came out slow, and never found their feet. Not to mention two horrible defensive mistakes directly led to goals. This team, year in, year out, is the best in the NHL. We break records, so many, we barely have time to stop and enjoy them. We are THE measuring stick for every other organization. And think again if you don't figure that's a big weight to carry. From Game #1 of the NHL season, we are expected to win every game. We go into every other team's building as the team everyone wants to beat. It's our name they circle on their schedules. Everyone wants to see how they stack up against us the cream of the crop. Player after player, talk about the Red Wings organization and how we are held in such high regard. We stand alone. I love it. I love everything being a fan or a Red Wing means. 5 W's left. Go WINGS!!

"That's a reputation call... Sutherland blew it"

Great quote from Ozzie. It's pathetic to hear the Dallas players and Tippett defending those calls. Actually it's REALLY PATHETIC. Refs helped them win their first game. Lucky sob's. And instead of playing Saturday, they'd be listening to their wives asking them to do chores around the house today.

"That's a reputation call... Sutherland blew it"

Thing is, Turco and damn near everyone else knew it was a goal. He didn't jump up and down like he always does. His body language, to me, shows he had no problem with it. The ref? Apparently he was dreaming about the Texas BBQ he was going to have after the game or something. Hey, I love BBQ too, but c'mon. Pavel made minimal contact with Turco and was NOT the reason he carried the puck over the goal line. It's similar to a goalie making a save, and then sliding back over the goal line - no whistle? It's a goal. I don't mention Bettman in regards to the refs. I do feel the NHL would love, actually NEEDS to see these Penguin kids in the finals holding a Cup and in feeling that way, are letting them get away with murder. As for Bettman, he's clueless about everything hockey, and looks as bad talking about it. I think of George Bush when I see him speak. Actually Bush might look like a scholar next to Gary. I always wonder how the hell he is so bad at his job and yet expects people to appreciate what he's doing.

"That's a reputation call... Sutherland blew it"

Listen, it seems just about everybody is on board with the disgust in those two calls last night. Homer did not interfere with Turco. It was a goal. Did you see Turco's reaction right after we scored? He slumped his shoulders and let out a sigh like he just let in a bad one that his team needed him to stop. He sat there. Said NOTHING. Yet the ref decides it's interference. And it's a whole new game. How we were playing is irrelevant. Pavel's goal?. He slides down and towards Turco. He makes minimal contact, not at all on purpose, which happens ALL THE TIME, and Turco HIMSELF goofs and slides back into his OWN NET, carrying the puck over the line. They call that off! It was a legit goal. Again - the refs deciding the outcome. I'd expect the NHL to come out with some sort of apology; some type of comment about how these calls were wrong. What happens when these type of calls are made in a OT game? For me it doesn't matter what the series lead is, or which team these calls go against. It's about the integrity of the game. I'm not just a Wings fan, i'm a hockey fan. And i'm getting sick of officials deciding these games. Take Detroit out of the equation, and i'll still sit here and discuss the poor calls in other series. Crosby, Malkin and the Pens, for one, have been getting away with ALOT. Our goal earlier in the series which Homer directly interfered with Turco shouldn't have counted. My buddies and me were saying how wrong that goal was, Dallas just can't get a break. Screw the attitude, "well, the refs have a hard job .." nonsense. Last night's first bad call very much decided the outcome as far as i'm concerned, since a 1-0 lead would've been the proverbial dagger; we know the Stars were a nervous group - that would've been backbreaking. It sucks, no matter what jersey you root for.

Pens fan here...first post. NO SMACK!

Hey, i'm all for a little trash talk. But on a serious note, anyone watching these playoffs .. actually following more than just their team, would be hard pressed to find 2 more DOMINANT players than Zetterberg and Datsyuk. I love Malkin. I like Crosby, although I hate his penchant for crying and complaining about every little thing done to him. Shuddup and play the game. This ain't junior where everyone is quick to kiss his ass, cause he's "the guy". At least Evgeni takes his licks or throws a few punches when he's pissed off. That, of course, might have to do with his weak English. On paper, or any other way you slice it, the Pens simply CANNOT match Detroit's depth up front. Defense? The odds again are NOT in Pittsburgh favor. You know the names. As for the goalies, i've been a Fleury fan back when every other person said he was going to burn out, plain out be a bust or couldn't be a cornerstone for that franchise. Fleury has been good. Some may even say great. He's gaining confidence with a deep playoff run and will undoubtedly grow into an even better player with all of what he's seeing this year. But, again, edge Detroit. You simply CANNOT discount what Osgood has done this season. On top of that, it's truly remarkable to watch him re-invent himself at this stage in his career. Almost every game, you sit and say "how in the hell ...??" when he makes such difficult saves look routine. Over and over and over again. This being the same Chris Osgood who Wings fans know gave up that routine weak goal every game. I'm in awe of him and what he's done this season. The Penguins look good. They are the sexy pick. Although they beat Ottawa, the Rangers and likely Philly - these ain't powerhouses by any means. The Wings took a well-coached team in Nashville and frustrated them [Crosby take note], they walked all over Colorado, i'm saying right here, ONLY PARTLY because of their injuries. Dallas, who everyone now seems to quickly scream out "SUCKS!", have been close to the best coached, hardest working, and best prepared teams all playoff. I don't give a rat's ass that all the TV guys are now jumping on our bandwagon and practically laughing at Dallas. Get off. No thanks. Detroit won't beat Pittsburgh in 4. But this Red Wing machine is fast approaching the finish line, and looks to be too damn strong to lose even another game or two. Go Wings!!

    Don cherry on HNIC

The words "Don Cherry" and "knowledgable" in the same sentence? This could be history right here. I don't usually don't get entertained by hateful or racist people on TV, just because they're from where i'm from, they wear a snazzy suit, or can crack a funny one-timer now and again. But hey, that's just me. Thanks for telling us how much you love and appreciate a true-bred Canadian though, who is just a bigot, NOT a racist. Pathetic. Go away.

    Suspension Update

No "homer goggles" here. Osgood showed no intent to injure. Rebeiro did. You're wrong. Just like when a ref sends off two opposing players, when just one of them is 'the' s***-disturber, in order to drive home the point of "no more crap after the whistles, etc", the NHL should've taken this seriously - if only to say to every other player in both series that vicious whacks will not be tolerated. Again, we can discuss all the silly punishments handed out by the NHL over the last X amount of years, if you like. Pronger comes to mind. As does the hilarious slaps on the wrists he continues to get. After all these are lawyers. They nitpick this stuff to death, speak out of both sides of their mouths, then throw out statements that makes no sense, time and again. No matter what team Rebeiro plays for, a suspension, even a game, is warranted. Exactly! Because Ozzie wears a chest protector, that negates Rebeiro's intent to injure! I almost can't stop laughing at how stupid that statement you quoted is.
