QFT. It's laughable that the same guy who speaks so condescending about not worrying about Don Cherry and what he says or does on his shows, since we're not Canadians, is chirping on and on about what's going on down here. It does speaks volumes that he would even try to defend Cherry and his well-known borderline racist remarks, by saying "he's so entertaining ..." and "it's a Canadian thing". GTFOH. Nice.

Maybe not tonight. But the Stars have no chance in this series. If we had been healthy last year, we likely would've went on to the Finals against .. hahahaha .. the Sens. And likely looking at a Cup win. Oh well. 7 more W's and Stanley's home!! Wings 5-2.
-
Please don't hold up Don Cherry and anything he says as positive or good. He's a ignorant, old school, redneck who is OUT OF TOUCH with today's game. For Christ sake's he still PURPOSELY mispronounces Euro's names, even guys on the pathetic Maple Laughs - a team he indeed does cheer for. As for his ignorant comments on Coaches Corner, what he said was, "look at Holmstrom, "he takes punches in the nose", [twice! he shrieked!] and doesn't do anything about it. Nothing. What is he thinking?", he asks. He also went on to say Babcock has our guys ignoraing ANY and ALL types of contact after whistles etc. Even if they get cheapshotted, the Wings DO NOT respond. He went on to also say - which was PRETTY DAMN IGNORANT - that nobody goes to Joe Louis and how it's really a shame. Why not? Cherry feels the issue is we do not have any Bob Probert types on this team. Ass kickers. If we did, THEN the fans would be back. This team is soft, was the implication. Buy a f***in' clue Cherry. Who the hell is paying $200 for hockey tickets when the MI economy is one of the WORST in the U.S.? Please DO NOT mistake his bulls*** line that he began with, "Hey, I love Detroit. Best city in the USA, outside of Boston" crap. He's an angry, old man, well past his prime, who only seems to entertain those as ignorant and shallow as him. Entertaining? Hardly, considering he throws out borderline racial remarks on the regular, then flips switches and ends his shows all boo-hoo'ey with images of fallen Canadian soldiers. Give me a break. It looks so insincere and insulting to those of us who have military family members. And, IT IS!

5-9 GDT: (2) Pittsburgh vs. (6) Philadelphia
motorcitykid replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
Some people are really picking Philly to win this series, regardless of the Timo injury. The more I watch sports shows, the more I wonder, how the hell these dudes end up on TV? I mean you get great pay, great hours, fame, hang out with the stars, watch tons of sports, and then get to "report" on it. Doesn't matter if you make sense or not. Wow. Only because I want to see a bloodied, banged up and hurting Pittsburgh squad in the Finals, i'll say the Pens in 6. Goooooo Philly!!!!!!!! Plus, I have this real funny feeling the Pens are going to get tons of breaks if they get to the Finals, because seeing Crosby & Malkin win a Cup this year would be GOLD to the NHL and they need it. -
If we posted every slight, every excuse, every disrepsectful comment shown towards the Wings, and how we are not taken seriously, we would shut this site down from overload. Wait until Dallas wins a game. [if they can, I mean] For those keeping track of the "pros" picks: Round #1 - San Jose, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, and to a lesser extent Montreal & the Devils. Round #2 - San Jose, Pittsburgh and OMFG - now the Rangers!??? Round #3 - Dallas, Pittsburgh, and a bone thrown Detroit's way. Whatever.

^^ What Matt said. Yeh I found it funny the whole game the announcers are talking about "the Stars aren't looking very good. They're really hung over from their last series." They also showed Ribeiro & Ott and the announcer says, "Look at them. In between faceoffs, they're literally struggling for air." Boo-F'n-Hoo! Time & again the disrespect shown our team just makes me so infuriated. Excuses are for losers. And memo to Dallas: that wasn't even Detroit's A-game last night. One game doesn't tell you everything, but at the end of Round #1, and going into Round #2, I said if we meet the Stars, i'd be REAL happy. Bring it on!
-
You're a loser. Quit trolling.
-
Turco is a sieve in black & green clothing. Nothing more. Not against THIS Wings team. Wings win easily tonight as long as the 1st period doesn't get away from them.
-
3.5 a season is a HUGE mistake? Please continue ....
-
Let the Leafs have Brunnstrom. That way he's either gonna be a bust there, or request a trade within a year or two. No way it will work out for them. Hahaha.
-
Please don't ever mistake what Stuart says for what Bertuzzi said last season. Bertuzzi was soooo unconvincing as soon as the words left his mouth. He had zero intention of staying here. It was pretty obvious he wanted to settle somewhere warmer, partially because of his health issues. Also, he had no ties to Detroit, a bad history between our team and his former Canucks team and so on. He is nowhere near as classy and team oriented as Stuart is. This guy is a mainstay on team Canada's roster to boot. If he says he wants to stay, or moreso would like to get something done, I believe him. If the contract makes sense, I think he'll be here. The day he came over here, I was so damn excited, having followed his career a little, and knowing the skills he possessed. As for the comments about him being traded a few times, that has alot to do with where he was playing. Now that he's in his prime, and finally getting his chance to be on a team doing some things, and being part of a great organization that Mike & Marion have built, all he has to do is do his job out on the ice and all else will be taken care of. Stuart knows this. Here's hoping ...

D-Mac > Downey.
-
I like Crosby. I could say he's a diver, but I think he's even more a whiner. Alot of that goes with his age. He's still young, and he gets rattled sometimes, then he looks at the refs for a call, even while the play is still on. Personally, I think he should stay focused more on playing. Again, he's still a young guy.

Wings in 6.
-
Great work, Matt! It's gonna be neat in a few weeks when we see our logo matched up against the Pens.

I program my TV to mute the audio whenever McGuire gets on.

^^ What he said. Even if the Sharks somehow comeback and win their series [momentum or not], they are going to be exhausted. Mentally and otherwise. Now I might throw them a bone and say they could win 1, maybe a 2nd. But after grinding out a series win, the LAST thing they need to see, the last thing they want to see down the other end of the ice is THIS Detroit team. No way in hell they win WCF series. Nope. Never gonna happen. And as some people have already stated .. Marty Turco vs. The Wings? Hahaha. I can't wait. I do hope the Stars get banged, bruised and bloodied on their way out, though.
-
Thorton said his team is good enough to win the Cup this year, next year, and the next year. Umm, uh-huh. As for a pick between the 2 teams, I see us matching up well with Dallas. I gotta tell all those who haven't seen these guys this playoff, that those guys can skate. They fight everywhere on the ice, they just do not give up. Turco has looked pretty good, although [and NOT because i'm a Wings fan] I have a feeling some of that has to do with the Sharks pop-gun attack. Dallas will bring all they got, and cue up the "DETROIT'S IS THE FAVORITE TO WIN THE CUP" lines now. Yeh right. We've been disrespected time and time again this season with the notion that our guys can't finish the job. Injuries played a HUGE part in the Anaheim f***s beating us last year. And of course, our lack of big offense. Anyways, it should be a good series, but Dallas vs Detroit is a whole lot different than Dallas vs San Jose. That team .. i don't know what they are missing, but something has to give. They've been saying for 2 or 3 years that the Sharks are "the" sexy team to win it all. Again ... uh-huh. I'll be nice about this ... Wings in 6.

Saw this on the TSN panel. Milbury: Avs in 7. [said it's gonna be a war, Avs will be physical] Pang: Avs in 6. [said depth and top 6 will factor in] McKenzie: Wings in 7. [said a close series, with Wings just getting out] Plus you factor in all the papers, media outlets, news, professionals, panelists, their moms, newborn babies, etc ... same old same old. Well sorry, but here's a GREAT BIG "F. U.!!" Year in, year out, the best team in the League yet the disrespect shown towards us is overwhelming. As much as I laugh, cry, hurt, and celebrate with our Wings, in the back on my mind with every win we rack up, I always raise a middle finger to all who laugh off our Stanley Cup aspirations. 8 down .. 8 to go!! I love you guys!!!
-
As long as we get our legs going in the first 10 minutes, we will be OK. It will be interesting to see which Avs team shows up at puckdrop. But hey, if Jose starts, we should be very much alright [as well as my lead in my pool going through the roof!!] Finish this off, boys. Sharks, Rangers and Habs: take your series' to Game 7's. Please and thank-you.

Depth or not, Peter Forsberg didn't belong in a Wings uniform. Never will. Now as hockey fans, we can talk and I can give the dude respect for what he has done, and how he plays the game. He is [or once was, anyways] tough as hell and gave his all everytime he stepped on the ice. As a Wings fan, he gets grouped in with such players as Bertuzzi and the like, as players who never EVER should wear the Winged wheel. Bertuzzi days were past him when he came here, and he looked ridiculous in our jersey, not to mention he stands for all the wrong things.
-
Ever since we knew the Avs were up next against us, I was literally drooling over the prospect of seeing THE MIGHTY RED MACHINE scoring over & over & over again on Jose. Sieve doesn't begin to describe him. The 1st period of Game #1, as Babs stated, we played Detroit hockey. Then we stopped skating. Colorado was given a chance to get back into it. Yesterday, we again came out banging, hustling, and going to the net, and look what happened: We ARE All-World!! After seeing the decisive blow in this series delivered last night [sorry, but this Avs team will NOT win 4 out of the next 5], I can only wonder why Quennville isn't looking to start Budaj. He looks much bigger in net, moves laterally alot quicker, and seems to know when to stay back in his crease. Either way, obviously, I don't care - this team and actually moreso, most TV announcers are sorely mistaken in thinking this team has much chance against us. I thoroughly HATE Colorado - no matter what year it is. And seeing Foote's bloody nose, I was just waiting to see more blood! Kudos to D-Mac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before the first games were played these playoffs, what teams did ya hear about? Pittsburgh, Montreal, the Ducks & Sharks. Second round ... which teams are they talking about now? The Rangers?!! Yup. Pittsburgh, and ... hmmm, maybe Dallas. I'm so sick of the disrespect shown to our team. Turn on Mick & Ken ANYTIME, and they are as both as critical and positive for the opposing team as they are our team. Yet everyone writes us off. Win this Cup and it's 4 in 11 years. ???? F 'em all! Wings / Habs. Stanley Cup 2008. It's Destiny.

Boy, this is fun .. watching Wings fan bashed Bertuzzi. Not long ago, many here defended him as both a player AND person. He's always been a self-centered prick, not a player you hope kids look up to; an ******* who thinks he is above any punishment. Dude should never have been allowed back into the league. And Burke, Crawford, that whole Vancouver team that he played on and thoroughly defended him - right on up to the NHL offices, s***, even Gretzky saying he should be forgiven - even invited him to Team Canada ... F 'em all. Suing Crawford? What a friggin' joke.
-
I don't know how Holland's name came out ... dammit. It's my love/hate thing with that guy. He's always on my mind. Anyways, forgive me if I don't jump up and down when the name Downey is mentioned and what he brings to this team. A pure-bred fighter HE IS NOT. I'm not sure which games you've been watching, but Downey doesn't seem to strike much fear in anyone - let alone stand head and shoulders above most other fighters. Pul-leeze. Cmon now. And as for the reuniteing of the Grind Line, i'm going on what Ken & Mick said earlier this week about Babs likely giving them a shot together. But being his first game, who knows. Either way, i'll say it again .. if he can bring a big part of his game back, if only for the rest of this year - he's worth way more than Downey. Stay on topic.

3/27 Update: Samuelsson has groin issue, Filppula ready
motorcitykid replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
Ohhh nooo, whatever will we do? *chuckle* No Sammy? *chuckle* Hey maybe there won't be so many turnovers and shots to Legace's chest tomorrow then, huh? Anyways. Thanks for the update. I heard Brad Stuart isn't back until maybe Game 3 of the playoffs. I really hope sooner. And rest assured, the Grind Line WILL be seen tomorrow ... Wooo - hooo !!!!! Just a little reminder:
