If Markov thinks he's worth 4 million, good for him in getting it from the Islanders. Ken Holland needs to focus on our forwards, not the defense which won't be nearly as bad as some think it will be. Waiting ...
-
No, I agree. I was just saying that DMac is > Drake.
-
Mac or Drake? If we're throwing around half a million dollars, i'd take D-Mac. It has nothing to do with the fact he use to play here, but more because you know what he brings and he's every bit what Drake is suppose to be and then some.
-
A) I don't like Drake. I don't like the cheapshots he throws and the way he goes out of his way to take guys out. We only spent 550$? The amount he signed for changes none of my opinions on him. B) In more than one thread i've already said I would like to see someone along the lines of a Mike Peca or Sutton added. I don't follow other posters around trying to derail a thread with insults as KP has done with the last few threads i've responded in. That's where my original post in this one came from. I wanted Luongo [aside from his name, you've yet again totally misquoted what I said], and ??

Bring me Mike Peca!!

One thing you need to do is quit talking out your ass and putting comments on me that I never said. I'm sick of it. You've done it previosuly on other posters in other threads as well. There is no need to respond to such a dumbass who keeps throwing out such on point s*** as "You're an idiot if you think a guy like Asham is nothing but a 4th line player. We need him. He's also a scorer." Wow - in-*******-sightful !! Take a minute to realx. Breathe. And read what the hell you are responding to so you can quit attributing comments to people that never said them. You're too busy trying to post in every ******* thread that you bare make sense. No-one gives a f*** about a post count, ***** - slow down.

Nicely put. Holland needs to do both - lock up your star, franchise players and also look to improve each year. Other GM's seem to be doing both. I guess we're all fools. He keeps saying no major signing can be made based on resigning on guy - Hank. He's made zero impact to this roster so far, and only complained and bemoaned what other players are asking for and receiving. This isn't a call to overpay anyone, but this roster sure doesn't look as sound as he is leading everyone to believe. Youth is great, and yes we gotta see what Flip, Rex and the others can do, but he better be right, because wheeling and dealing during the season or leading up to the deadline is not Holland's style.
-
We need at least one proven scorer to play on the top lines. Our defense, unlike some, does not scare me although another Markov or similar would be sweet. Meanwhile, Holland is out offering contracts to guys who bring little to the table, who are well past their expiration date. Yeh I guess we can disregard the name Drake has gotten since he left here. I guess we can assume he'll be so damn happy to be back, that he'll instantly become another player [as some said he surely will]. It's no joke when people are pegging Drake to be in the minors come Christmas. The only dude Holland added all summer.
-
Hasek was already here. Rafalski replaces Mathieu. Again, what has he done to address the needs here aside from "letting players go"? Or are you one who buys into Holland's yearly "wait until the deadline" crap that fetches us such 'greatness' as Todd Bertuzzi?
-
What has Holland done so far this off-season to address the needs of this team? That's why.
-
League minimum, time in the minors, a non-factor, injured quite a bit, slowing down. I thought this was a Dallas Drake thread.
-
This is good news, because I bet Holland has dreams of bringing this act to Detroit next season. Memo to Yashin: "No-one cares. And listen, while you're still deciding what to do, don't answer any calls coming from the 313 areacode. Thanks."
-
He leaves his feet to run Lebda's head. He blindsides Aubin again up high. And a fight that never was.
-
How exactly is Drake 'not' Tootoo - as in better, as you've implied? I'd love to hear that one.
-
And that's a good thing? You've got to be kidding me.
-
NN is a pretty astute poster. And really, do you actually know who the Dallas Drake is?
-
Yes, but ON THE DAMN RED WINGS him and Asham should light it up and contribute nightly. It's one thing when people are posting because they're so damn excited Holland actually made a move. But when they don't know what they're talking about ... again: the player Holland sign is Dallas Drake! D-A-L-L-A-S D-R-A-K-E. I'm thinking if we just change the colors on this board from red & white to blue & white, all of this might start to make sense to me. Am I lost? Is this a Leafs board where every s***ty player on any other team is suddenly great when they sign there?
-
Hmm, feared hitter or cheapshot artist? Top of my head, let's say I mention Scott Stevens ... most think "feared hitter". Dallas Drake goes looking to lowbridge and hurt guys. Cmon now. Nothing about his game is what the Wings need. You might've said that LAST summer, when alot of us doubted the makeup of this team and whether they could stand up to physical play. This team proved alot of us wrong. But the 2007/2008 season? Sigining Dallas Drake is laughable if it wasn't so damn sad.
-
Completely false. The reason the Wings got knocked out of the playoffs this year had nothing to do with getting pushed around and everything to do with not putting the puck in the net when it mattered and injuries.
-
Being bought out is irrelevant. I said Drake sucked strictly based on the player he is. Mike Peca. More money ... and worth it.
-
In another thread I saw a million. Either way, Dallas Drake is not what the Wings need.
-
We need a forward who can bring it every night and as a bonus maybe another defenseman with some experience. Holland's got some people lost as hell on this move.
-
Nicely put. He's a cheapshot artist who brings nothing else to the table but a lack of respect toward other players. Apparently he's a great guy now that he's a Wing. I also find it funny that Holland has been boo-hooing to everyone about money woes, but then goes out and throws a million at Drake for what? To say, see I added someone new? What a joke.
-
I think that's a typo. Pull up Holland's comments the last few years during offseason. Last year he was saying stuff like "We are positioning to add some big names." "We are saving money for later in the year." "We don't want to overpay like everyone else." Again this year, here we are, being told the same nonsense, and told to wait until later in the season or the next trade deadline. If you are familiar with Hollandspeak, you know guys like Heatley etc, aren't in his plans. It's cool to be careful, but Holland always leaves the impression that, as the saying goes, "he's a day late, and a dollar short".
