Yes!! Helm is looking great out there and as another poster said he is definitely in Jovos head. Meanwhile in the other 29 NHL cities, we keep hearing how the Wings are made up of 3 guys - Zata, Pavs and Lids. SMH. The depth just keeps coming back to bite other teams in the ass. I could care less if it's the overhyped Canucks with that sieve in net, or anyone else we meet next round. Again and again, year after year, if the Wings are HEALTHY!!!! there is simply no team that can match up against us. Kudos for mini-Draper Helm leading the young guns again this playoff!!
-
Minus the horrid penalties being called .. this one should be the Wings. Doan is the only guy showing up for Phoenix so a sweep is possible. However, i'd like to see a better defensive showing from our guys, especially protecting the lead. Also I hope somebody sent Helm a memo saying that THERE'S NO HITTING IN HOCKEY because we don't need any more "boarding" calls!! SMFH. Wings win 5-3. 14 W's to go!!!

Another April. Another bunch of predictions how one of the other fifteen playoff teams are going to win the Cup. What else is new? Vancouver. The Capitals. The Pens .... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ... The Wings couldn't care less about predictions - WE. JUST. WIN. CUPS! I'll throw the Yotes a game, but this series is Detroit's. Wings in 5. Let's get off to a great start tonight, even minus Zata - Pavs is gonna be RIDICULOUS this April!!!! Goooooooooooooooooooo WINGS!!!!
-
Glad to see the Ozzie bashers are alive and well after only 8 games. SMFH!! Nashville always plays us tough but they really can't afford any injuries to an already weak lineup. Wings win 4-1.
-
Like Babcock, I can't stand the nonsense I saw last game. Lazy, turnovers and guys not finishing their checks. We should be 3-0. Anyway the Stars fans apparently plan on booing Modanos return which is laughable considering what he meant to their city .. and even before Dallas when he was a North Star. Management had NO room for him on their roster so these "fans" are saying he should have just retired?? SMFH. Wings win easily after sloppy Tuesday night game. And Modano nets 2 assists!!! Go Wings!!
-
Dear NHL, We regret to inform you that we are back, re-tweaked and re-tooled! Sincerely, The 2010-2011 Detroit Red Wings I'm sooooo excited for the opener. There is something unknown and interesting about our lineup this year. Tonight should be the start of great things!! 5-1 Wings.

^^ This. How can any fan of the red and white ever, EVER say it's ok to see this little yknowwhat!!! shake Macs hand. I missed the original airing but saw tonights repeat. How sickening!!! Not only the highlights from that incident but seeing Mac and the Turtle side by side!!! And Lemieux was playing all nice and talkin nonsense about never running from a fight and how he too has had injuries resulting from a cheapshot but yet, what HE did wasn't! SMFH!!!! Some guys never ever deserve a second chance and if you remember that night, that game, as it happened .... you couldn't possibly EVER forgive that piece of trash!!!! *endrant*

Turco? Blackhawks? Who cares??? If true, I can't wait to see Mike score all those nifty glovehand goals through 6 or 7 games versus his former teammate!! Not like theres a ton of room to add big names, so depth is the goal and I like this signing alot. Great points NFM25, as always!!

No stats. No history lessons. No commentators predicting. One game. 23 guys. Babcock. 2 refs. 2 linesmen. And all we expect is fairness. Our season doesnt end tonight. Bertuzzi, 1 more time? Wow. I take it ALL back ! Franzen, you scored 4 goals - we couldn't tell from your face you scored one! MONEY on a contract doesn't buy that kind of player. Hank, Pavel and Lidstrom we know you lead the way. The spirit, the talent .. mostly, your heart. We are so proud. Homer you've adjusted. You don't even touch the blue paint anymore, yet they still can't stop yoU!! A supporting cast second to noone. The jersey represents so much .. and so many. They say we can't do it. They love the stats when they go against us. Fine. We will prove everyone wrong. Detroit. Michigan. Hockeytown. The Detroit RED WINGS! HISTORY WILL BE MADE!!! Go WINGS!!!!

There should NEVER be playoffs games in the daytime. Regular season, sure, but in the playoffs, these 1 and 2 PM starts are ridiculous. Way too much importance to have players missing gameday skates, messing with their routines etc. It started to get real silly once Bettman came in with his NBA background and started having players play less than 48 hrs after their last game. Hockey demands are very different than basketball. 10 PM starts are really just 7 PM starts anyways. I got no problem having my team get settled into the city they're visiting before they play.

The Sharks do not have the makeup of winners. They are a fragile group. Even our former coach, knowing our team well, has shown that he can't always use that to his advantage. As far as I'm concerned, they are the supposed winner as everyone including some Wing fans seem to think we are lucky to even be here. I don't buy THAT, but .. anyway my point is we needed 1 win. And a convincing win is better than us winning 2-1. The Sharkies then would say "oh, it's OK boys, we almost closed it out." Now that they were blown out, they are using the line of "weird game. lucky Wings all night ..." blah blah blahhhh. It's embarrassing to them believe it! Because Nabokov has finally been lit up like he shouldve been at least 2 other games. The floodgates are open. And if I'm a Sharkie fan, reality is, he CAN be lit up again by a Wings squad that will dominate IF we get: -fair officiating BOTH ways -Jimmy NOT giving up deflating goals and just makes the routine saves. The Sharks are no match just like pretty much any other team. Wings cannot be matched when those two things BOTH happen. 7-1? No biggie? We shall see. But I'm betting the Sharks ARE talking a good game right now, but inside, at the same time, the doubt has begun - if nothing more than "geez guys, what if??" We win Game 5. Just 1 more. One game. I predict the series is over!! Unless of course we get the refereeing in Game 7 thats the same s*** calls that had the Sharks up 3-0 a day ago. Fair calls. Jimmy just being solid. This series is ours. And the Sharks know this summer will be a disaster for their team after 4 playoff flop in a row (the last being a blown 3-0 series lead in 2010). Management WILL NOT ice this lineup next October. That's not pressure? Wings lose - noone but US care. The national media in Canada and US had us picked first, to miss the playoffs and second, now lucky to even beat Phoenix. Go WINGS!!!!
-
Fixed that for you. No way Sharks hold on if we win Saturday and they face a return to The Joe with memories of tonites beating very fresh when they walk back in. 1 more W!! I admit, ive been on his ass ALL year, but Bertuzzi played his best game ever as a Wing. I hope either of him or Mule or both of course, keep this good luck another game at least. We NEED that Game #6.
-
I'm telling you. Win this. Win #5. And this series is over for the Sharks. After back to back losses, the Sharks will hear the choke tag pulled out and front page. 2 games. Then it's inescapable Sharkies. They will definitely be looked at very closely over summer. Marleau's a FA etc. The Sharks know this is their shot. 4 .. what 5 years running we've heard they were 'the team'. A fairly called game. Jimmy in his Calder form. That's it. Wings win. Go WINGS !!!

Keep your heads up!! Prayers.

My real point about THIS season is this. I am also, BTW not wearing Red Wing Colored glasses. THIS playoff I refuse to adopt this nonsense a few here have about being happy to even BE in the playoffs or 'even better', the 2nd. Pul-leeze!! I think our team is very much equipped to go 4 rounds and bring the Cup back where it belongs: Motown. Hockeytown (PERIOD. None of this Hockeytown, "USA" crap). Deeeeeeeee-Troooooiiiiitttt!!! Of course I didn't see a 3-0 hole, but .. This years remaining teams just don't look unbeatable although the Habs and Bruins are feelgoods. Anyway the Wings CAN win this. IF of course we cone back, 1 game at a time until 4. Now the Refereeing. Not just us but other series too! Too much directly deciding games. And a few very deflating goals. Other than that I just SEE us winning this whole damn thing and a rookie in net even weirder. In Detroit. After all our nightmares in goal. Hahaha. Yeh OK maybe I'm crazy and just such a fan. I think we can do it. I do. So why look to next year, yet. I assume the threads meant to calm the doom and gloom about the future. We got a series we could've been up the exact 3-0 s score. The future is indeed not bad at all. And remember, Stevie Y's heart is stitched into a little corner of that jersey. He will carry the torch in the future. Were in great hands. I love the thread though. Except the Selanne part!! (Ughh hell nah I just see those hated Anaheim colors when I look at his face). Go WINGS!!!

Really. Stop with this tired crap. Geez the media won't throw us a bone, ever, and even the horribly bias Canadian press has made the point since the start of the playoffs that a team who may suprise was the Wings because THEY ARE RESTED. Cmon!!Some of these guys had half a season off. Babcock mentioned this exact point earlier today. Rest is NOT the reason. Now if you wanna argue fitness/game shape fine. It may be a factor but not the way we've played. We've lost 3 straight by a goal. It ain't because the team is tired. People act like it's all of us out there playing. These guys are in tip top physical conditioning minus the guys banged up like Raffi, Eaves.
-
I just laughed at this post. Do you not remember Edmonton? Calgary? Anaheim? A bunch of noshows in all those previous series a few ago and all forwards. What are you talking about? We s***ted on all of those guys, Shanny etc, at the time for their hugely pathetic goal production. Scoring 4 goals a game should be enough. Howard has been pathetic in the timing of these sorties. It's one thing to give up one off your ass and in, when the scores 6-0, but in a tight hard fought playoff game where EVERY goal means something especially when you're only up by 1 or 2. Call a spade a spade. The problem is NOT scoring, it's our goaltending. And even more frustrating is the fact we ain't even getting much regular production from some of our other guys, yet we ARE scoring enough. Until the puck comes into our zone ....

They need some energy inserted into the lineup. It ain't like Williams will be missed in the lineup anyway. So really, anyone is at least equal to himation this point. Unfortunately Babcock won't sit Ericsson instead of Lebda if indeed Lilja is back in. At the least, Ericsson should sit Game 4 and refocus himself. This is all moot though, if the officiating continues the way it has. No sourgrapes, just facts. I mean with Canadian media talks about us being next to the least penalized team all year, only to now get 10 penalties in playoff games, people ARE seeing it besides the fans. And if Howard doesn't get his s*** together, lineup changes will not matter anyways. He has NO room for error now. For F sakes, if/when we get up by a couple of goals tomorrow, he can't fall apart when we need him to make the big save. I just don't know what else Howard can read see talk about or hear. Rookie means nothing - he NEEDS to give us a chance to win. I've been such a supporter of his ... geez I used to scream my ass off at Griffins games ... but I'm just disgusted with him right now. We shall see. Go WINGS!!!
-
Yes I do remember. My point is these guys were damn good the second half. I really don't think it was a bunch of fluky games we happened to win. What the hell happened??
-
^^ Exactly. People acting like this team struggled to get into the playoffs. They walked over everybody quite easily post-Olympics. Also, as most anyone around hockey has said, they had so many injuries early it really was good they came back healthy with a month or two to go. They were rested! Everyone was fearing us, aside from what some in keep harping on. We were rested. Excited for Jimmys first playoffs. And glad everyone picked the Cul champs in September, again, - the Sharks Pens Caps Canucks ... even Phoenix was picked ahead of us by seasons end. They have every opportunity to give the whole league the middle finger for another year of disrespect towards the Winged Wheel. No excuses. Unfortunately the refs and Jimmy are making it awfully hard to compete. Ain't got s*** to do with rest, our offense or anything else. Geez the REAL Wings were visible vs. Phoenix in Games 4, 5, and 7. They just can't beat every extra chance given to the other team. Phoenix series was no different. The refs were atrocious. The only question is CAN they overcome it now that there is no room for error.
-
Funny. Aint got nothing to do with Huds. We've outplayed the Sharks, even mote frustrating because we haven't even thrown our A game at them yet, for a full 60. As for the other two, Hossa has proven he's overpaid and a playoff FLOP. Yeh, boy oh boy I wish we had him here the last 3 games. Cause THEN it would be Detroit up 3-0. Sammy? Again, if he's here we are a game away from wrapping this up. Like seriously ... Hossa and Sammy ain't doing a damn thing about the refereeing in this series. Or the pathetic goaltending either. They disappeared more than once when they were needed here but if only we could have overpaid to resign them ... that's it!! Try again.

What does a salary cap have to do with winning 4 games? Exactly. It's a damn joke the way you consistently appear in peoples threads, posting for the sole purpose of seeing who responds to your blatant flaming. f***in joke.

Unfortunately you forget it's the playoffs. There's NO space out there. That's why guyslike Crosby get shut down so easily when facing good checking players. In turn, you can play as clean as you want - which bytheway is how the Wings play all the time - it won't matter if the refs are hellbent on deciding games instead if letting the players play. As it's been said already, you can't expect the Wings to a- beat the Sharks, b- beat the refs and c- survive horrible goaltending. You just can't. Yeh the Habs came back from down 3-1 vs. the Caps. But that's a testament to the great goaltending they're getting. And to think, all these knowitalls on TV kept swearing this playoff was all about offense. Goaltending wins. Howard vs. Nabokov ill take anyday, with all else being equal. But once other things come into play, just how many times can we overcome them. As for the series, this is what I'll see possible. Remember POSSIBLE, probably not likely: - Wings win Game 4. I just don't see them losing this at home. - Wings win in SJ on Saturday if they overcome adversity for ONE game, no matter what's called. As we did a few times already this playoff. The game may go to OT. And imagine for a minute, the Sharks lose a heartbreaker. They now must return to Detroit. Screw the bulls*** comments they'll be talking. They simply will NOT want a Game 6 in Detroit. Lose and the Wings tie the series, your playoff choker label is back on the news, and the feeling that they've lost ALL momentum. - Game 7, winner take all. Sharks at home, knowing a loss for Detroit means nothing. A loss for THEM and you best believe they're making big moves this summer and forever remembered in hockey history as one of the biggest frauds and failures 5 years running. You want pressure? There you go. It's possible. Again, I'm not tryna reach. I'm just saying we win the next 2 games. 2!! And the Sharks are done. Do the Wings believe? Or does the younger guys' attitudes of thinking we need to win FOUR win out in the dressing room. We shall see. Go WINGS!!!

This is what pisses me off most. The playoffs are wide open. This is the year the Bruins or someone NOT even considered to hVe a chance will win. It is shaping up that way. Pittsburgh will not be the one. Yet with this opportunity, we have been beaten by our own goalie and the refereeing in the series everyone is talking about. The Sharks are this years adopted team for all these other fans who's teams are already out. The NHL wants it. I can not sit here and talk about what a great season we've had, when we DIDNT. The playoffs were suppose to be the REAL season when everyone is healthy and ready to get back to the top where we belong. What the hell is with you fans and this bulls*** about happy to even have made the playoffs and we lose as a team and we can't win every year. You are not a fan. Sometimes, it IS because of a s*** call or a player making a horrible untimely mistake. Yeh we are a family but you are paid to do your job and we shouldn't be expected to score 8 goals every game. If anyone has played sports competitively, you know how deflating untimely mistakes can be. Another game - another 2 untimely, completely deflating goals against us. This is not anyones fault but Jimmy. He let this team down. Why the hell are people blaming Williams cause he didn't hit the damn net and the puck slid all the way around the glass to Thorton. If he hadn't have shot, and they still ended up going the other way and scoring, we'd be hearing why the hell didn't he shoot?? At least try to get it on net!! Like get real. The refs and Jimmy decided this series. 4 goals EACH game, outplaying the other team for most of 9 periods and we sit here with this result this morning. This is as bad as last years Final. Again not tryna sound like an ass, we are all family here, but gimme break with blaming the most obscure s*** while ignoring the obvious. Ask the guys on the bench or Cleary during that first intermission. Their faces said it all. As did Homer post-game when he said you can't let that goal in with 6 seconds left in a damn period!! Say all the right things for 48 hrs. It means NOTHING!! Nik Lidstrom deserves better. I just can't believe this. It's like I woke up and said to my girlfriend, it thought it was a bad dream. Really. But it wasn't. 4 games ain't impossible. But you simply can't beat the other team, the refs and shifty untimely goaltending all at once. I feel like crying. To Matt and the boys here, thank you for another great season. To Nik Lidstrom, I'm so sorry this is how the year ends. You deserved soooooo much better. Thank you for helping us get through Yzermans retirement a little easier. We love you. Go WINGS!!!!
