Why would Brunnstrom coming in mean so much of a decrease in Hudler's icetime? Hudler is an established forward on this team. Brunnstrom hasn't even made the team.
-
There's no way McCarty will be able to make the Wings before the season ends.
-
The kid is not even signed yet. It seems a little foolish to believe that Brunnstrom is guarenteed to take Hudler's minutes.

While its very improbable that Yzerman would leave the Wings to take over the Leafs, everybody is being a bit naive to suggest that Yzerman would never leave the Wings. Remember, Yzerman has a looooong time until he is GM of the Wings. He won't get that position until Holland and Nill are retired. If he starts getting antsy in a few years, or if their is eventually some management shake-up, you could see Yzerman with another team.

I can't see the Wings be able to add Hossa and sign him longterm. As we've seen from Tampa, its bad to tie up so much cap space in only 3 forwards.
-
Its too early to say. This might just be a team-wide slump, and Ozzie might come back to playing as he did earlier in the season. Give it a few more games till we see if this is just a minor thing, or if Ozzie is leveling back to his typical play from years past.

For all you stats lovers out there...........This is not the Baseball Hall of Fame.
-
Hmm, I did not realize that Ozzie did that singlehandidly.

Should We Alternate Goalies in the Playoffs?

I don't see what the problem is with taking past sucess into account when choosing the starter. If Hasek is playing like an AHL goaltender, of course you go with Ozzie. But if its close between the two, you gotta go with Hasek. I think anybody who's watched hockey would have to agree that Hasek is a much better playoff goalie than Ozzie. -

So in the hypothetical situation that Osgood slips quite a bit near the end of the season, but still has good stats due to his dominance at the beginning of the year, you would think that he should still start in the playoffs since he had a good start to the season? -
I highly doubt any of those teams will be trading their young players to the Wings.

Ozzie has only been better then first quarter of season. He and Hasek have been about the same level recently. It would be stupid to declare Ozzie automatically the starter in the playoffs in spring just because of what he did in fall. -
It's a negative, not a positive that some of these players are still under contract next year. The Wings want to be flexible. Anyone who comes in will be a rental unless they prove themselves otherwise.
-
The Comrie and Ryder trade is straight out of fantasy land. And trading for Wade Belak? He's one of the most useless players in the NHL.
-
This team is deeper, faster, and has more hustle. And Datsyuk and Zetterberg are far and above better than any forward on that team.
-
This team could easily go toe to toe with the 2002 team. They may not have the names, but they have the chemistry and the quality.
-
Babcock has a good system going on and all the players are buying into it. A big problem, especially during Babcocks first year, is that some of the vets on the team didn't see eye to eye with Babcock. Babcock seems to do better with the younger guys the Wings have now.
-
Doubtfull, Montreal could easily get a young guy or a draft pick for Ryder, which would be mpre useful to them than Sammy
-
Probably not. Every trade deadline, competion pushes up the prices for players, no matter how past their prime they are. For example, the kings ransome St. Louis got for Tkachuck.
-
It would take more than that to get Connoly and Blake.
-
amen to that!
-
Ivanans would do nothing to help the Wings improve in the standings and he would be a liability for the playoffs. There is no need for a goon on the Red Wings.
-
Not very likely. Teams contending for playoff spots rarely trade away key players at the deadline, even if they are at the end of their contract. Its wishfull thinking to think Minnesota would trade Rolston, especially to a conference opponent.
-
So by that logic, the Wings probably have Cleary on the block.
-
Morris could be traded, but the Coyotes will want some good kids in return, probably more than than Morris is worth. Besides the fact that Rolston is on the last year of his contract, there is no reason that Minnesota would trade him.
