Eric Lindros, bust or biggest bust ever?
HenryMalredo replied to BringHomeTheCup!'s topic in General
Its crazy to call Lindros a bust just because he never became the next one. If you used that logic, you could say Mario was a bust because he couldn't carry the Penguins (They didn't win cups until Jagr was drafted and they brought in veteran players). -
What a lot of people seem not to understand is that the formal and informal rules of hockey have little to know effect on what kind of settlement will be reached, or what the judgement would be should this go to court. The law has no use for issues on if Moore is a coward and cheapshot artist, or if "The Code" was properly followed. Those are unimportant to law. Also, is their no concrete information on the cause of Moore's broken neck in the news? I find it hard to believe that we need to argue over something that should have been already established as a medical fact.

He won't be back. And everybody is forgeting that Fischer isn't the only one who has a say in if he'll play for the Wings again, the Wings won't bring him back if his condition is not taken care of.
-
Forsberg is a playoff monster and we have no true second line.....................he'd be great with the Wings if the price is right.
-
Never underestimate the idiocy and desperation of an NHL gm.
-
Theres no way the Wings will go after a big name goalie this summer. They have big long term investments in Datsyuk, Rafalski, and Kronwall, and will make a big long term investment in Zetterberg when he is an rfa, and of course Lidstrom will be making big money until he retires.
-
If the Kings move any of those two players it'll be for a player that can help them now (a starting goalie) aka no one the Wings have to offer.
-
It seems like some people on these boards believe that if a player isn't a big time goal scorer and isn't a fighter, than they aren't useful.
-
I'm not sure if I'd call that a bargain salary. I wouldn't mind Doan, but thats quite a commitment in both salary and years for a second line winger.
-
Doan would nice, but I doubt this rumor is legit, and I'm not sure If the Wings should break the bank for someone who can't score at least 30 goals.
-
If Detroit felt Ozzie was starter material, they wouldn't have brought back Hasek. If Hasek breaks down, the Wings will bring in someone else.
-
Bettman doesn't have the power to circumvent the BOG. There is no way that the Balsillie deal was axed without consent from the BOG.
-
Bowman wouldn definatly improve the Leafs, but I'm not sure If I would go that far. As shown by his time in Buffalo, Bowman seems to have done better when he can concentrate on coaching instead of managing a team.
-
Maybe you don't remember, but the physical players that the Wings had during their prime in the nineties actually could play hockey, unlike the fringe players that many are clamoring for the Wings to sign.
-
Yet fringe players like Asham and Cam Janssen are exciting. Fourth liners that would probably never have a permanent role on the Wings. Hudler and Kopecky are both young players that could possibly have a future with the Wings, while Samulesson is an inexpensive goalscorer.
-
Fights between good players are fun, but fights between crappy fringe players.......................snooze.

I"d have to agree that the Ducks would be better off with Penner than Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi is no longer a first line player at this stage of his career and has been dealing with injuries while Penner has some potential. But not matching the offer was something the Ducks had to do. Penner has some potential to get better, but probably not much. He's a bit older than other players with his limited experience, and even in his big "breakout" season, he only scored 45 points. He'll probably be a solid 2nd line player, but never an elite one. And he certainly doesn't have the potential of Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Bobby Ryan. I'd also be very suprised to see Penner flourish on a sinking Edmonton team.

Lowe is beyond desperate.
-
They still have to pay him, but it wouldn't count against the cap.
-
Maybe its because Isbister is lazy and is a borderline NHLer.

Every team makes these kinds of depth moves. Geez, its not like Holland is skipping by top free-agents cause he's too busy haggling with minor-leaguers.

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done
HenryMalredo replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Honestly, this is the same lineup that made it to the conference finals, except without the dead weight. It'd be nice to add a top six winger and maybe someone for depth, but honestly, nothing on the market is all that great. -

Smartest thing I've heard all day. Adding some scrubs who will hit and drop the gloves won't significantly effect this team. Its all about attitude. The team this past spring was the grittiest group of players to wear the winged wheel for the last several years. Was it because of naturally gritty players like Bertuzzi and Calder. No, in fact the teams "grittiest" players were non-factors in the playoffs. This Wings team was grittier than its predessecors because the team, especially guys like Dan Cleary, shifted in attitude. -
I'd be very suprised to see any GM, except for maybe some of the more maverick ones, send an offer sheet to an RFA. I'd be shocked if Holland ended up sending an offer sheet to an RFA.

Stuart must've been getting desperate. He's extremely overrated, but based on the deals that have been made lately, i'm suprised this is all he could get.
