    LNC Assemble! 4/22 GDT

Most of the time I don't rag on the officials, because I know that they have a difficult job. Having said that, it seems pretty clear to me that the officials want to decide the Philly-Caps game. I wonder if either of them have something riding on it like that one NBA official? EDIT: typo

can the Predators upet the Red Wings?

Of all the teams that could possibly have finished 8th in the Western Conference, this is the team I wanted to face the least. This is for a few reasons: 1. Their goaltending of late has been good. Ellis has played relatively well of late and we all know that a hot goaltender can beat the best of offensive teams in a best of 7 series. While he isn't a Luongo or a Kiprusoff, doesn't mean he still can't beat us. Look back to Edmonton and Roloson for a good example of this. 2. Other than possibly Chicago and Edmonton, Nashville has been the hottest team in the Western Conference that was trying to get in. (San Jose is without a doubt the hottest team in the league right now, but they had their playoff ticket punched for a little while now, so they don't count). The Predators have had to play playoff style hockey for over the last month just to try and get in so they will be prepared for them. Vancouver slumped themselves right out of the playoffs, and we all know Calgary is a day and night team. Haven't really seen Colorado of late, but they seemed to have done well. 3. Of all the divisions in the NHL, the Central has been the one that has given us the most problems this year. We pretty much took care of the Northwest Division (could have played Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, or Colorado), and the Pacific Division we did well against too. As for the other teams we could have played, the one I wanted to face was Vancouver. As mentioned before they were slumping coming down the stretch. The team couldn't produce any offense, even though they have the Sedin twins and Naslund, and Luongo was not playing like the Luongo of norm the last two weeks or so. EDIT: (Forgot to put prediction) I say this will be one of, if not the toughest test for our team in the playoffs this year. It will be a hard fought series, but in the end I will say Detroit wins in 6 games.

    Sharks upset in the Playoffs?

For my two quick cents, given how hot San Jose has played since the trade deadline, I could easily see a first round exit for them. It is very hard for any team to keep up that kind of play for the long haul, especially when it comes well before the playoffs and to try and sustain it through them.

    Justin Azevedo

My guess is that many teams will be looking at him. Given the stats you have shown and the new rules of the NHL, there is no reason why teams would not look at him. While he of a smaller stature, the league's new rules have sort of even the playing field for the smaller players. It will still be a tough road for him because he is small, but if he is skilled enough and good enough skater, he should have no trouble making the NHL.

    Weekend Picks

Well unless I go perfect these last two weeks, I have no shot at the top 50. So, my new goal is to try and get 17 more correct, which after the last 3 weeks maybe a stretch to do, to reach the century marker. Pronger at it again

Its possible he could where pads like I do. The pads I wear were made for someone is has very large calves, but since I have moderate size ones the padding goes all the way around the back of my leg. Primarily wear these pads because I got tired of having trouble walking after games from the goalie chopping me all game long.

    Pronger at it again

Why are you guys all so upset, this is no surprise by the league. We all know that Campbell and Bettman are in bed with Burke every night. We all know Pronger is the birth child of these three. Anyways the other owners will soon wise up too what's happening and split to form a new league just like when the NHL formed way back when the owners were upset about how the NHA was ran.

    Pronger at it again

We could all call into Bettman today and ***** about how the league needs to ******* get their act together unless they really want to see the NHL come to an end. Sorry about the curse (I think its my first time on here), but I do feel it is justified in this situation.

    Around The Horn

The biggest reason why hockey may never be mainstream to Americans is because it wasn't an American made sport. If you look at the tops sports football, baseball, basketball, and even NASCAR are all American invented sports. Look at soccer, biggest sport in the world, but barely gets noticed here because it wasn't started by our country. Hockey was created in Canada, so Americans are going to reject it as a favorite. So, while I agree that ESPN does seem to do its best at bashing the NHL a fair share of the time, I don't believe they are the reason for holding it back. I also agree that Bettman hasn't done that great of a job overall as the commish, but at the same point I don't think any of us or for that matter most people could do a much better job to make this game as widely accepted as the other four. Maybe if we had some way of telling the Canadians to play along and say that we have new evidence that the game was actually created here in America, we could see the game become more and more popular. What do you say are brothers and sisters to the north, would you go along with it to help promote this game farther than it ever has been?

    Make a Bold Statement

Next season Hudler will finish 3rd in scoring for the Wings, behind Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Also next season Kopecky will see 2nd line minutes when one of the top 6 players is hurt and light the lamp before getting a cheapshot that ends his season.
