I haven't been disappointed with Lilja in the playoffs, but hey. Give Lebda a shot, see how it works out.

Reaaallly looking forward to some intense play on our part tonight. Dats needs to shoot the puck -- look what happens when he does. If we can avoid another two shots, two goals situation on defense, I think we'll come out of this one alright. Keep the momentum and DON'T LET OFF THE PEDAL IN THE THIRD, PLZ.
-
Gahhh. Disappointing but I was pretty pleased with Detroit's play. They had Nashville sleeping for most of the game, but. Not really a fan of leaning off the pedal for what seemed like the entire third period by the coaching staff.

Staying up late only adds to the drama and fun, I think. Lookin' forward to it.

For the sake of diversity, I'll mention Zetterberg's late-game winner on Columbus from the corner late in the season where he bounced it off Leclaire even as he tried to avoid it. I went ballistic.

Great thread, woo. Would like to see our special teams excel during game three -- 1/10 on the power play doesn't cut it. That being said, I'd expect a livelier game from Nashville, who looked unwilling to carry the physical play during parts of game two. If we can continue to knock in a goal or two from a secondary scorer, we'll be in great shape to bend with whatever Nashville can do on offense. 4-3 Wings, in single OT.

For. Sure. The guy scores 10 goals in his last ten games, including two game-winners, and nothing in three? Bad news bears.
-
Yeah, seeing Cujo perform well, then be so elated to toss his stick into the crowd? Made my night.

Pierre Maguire is a loathsome human being

The guy seems to know a thing or two about international hockey, but good lord. He just over-analyzes and scrutinzes every little thing he can -- team chemistry, equipment problems, weird-ass trends. The dude just speculates about stuff he can't even be aware of, and doesn't provide interesting interviews in the least. On the positive side, I've always liked Brian Engblom and Keith Jones -- both guys are really candid, comical, and straightforward with their comments. -
Cujo got a well-deserved star selection and tossed his stick into the crowd. Freaking beautiful game for Flames fans, wow.

I wouldn't call it yet. Dallas made an equal number of mistakes last night penalty-wise, the only difference is they capitalized on Anaheim's. More importantly, I think the concern is that Dallas could emerge with a head-full of steam.

Hahaha, oh man. A Minnesota fan in the stands is going home with a souvenir stick. -

Sheesh, bad turnover. Who did they say was injured for Minnesota? -

So glad I had Mike Green on my fantasy team this year. Caps take it 5-4. Awesome, physical game that was well-referee'd. -

Dang, nice play by Pittsburgh. -
I don't want to get theoretical, but it's not even about "winning" a fight per se. More about sending a message that hey, if you're gonna be a cheap shot artist, tangle with me.

Let's do thisssssss. I'll be there with my buddy and his girlfriend tearin' it up in section 225A. Here's to a strong start and building momentum.

Should Downey Play in the first game
dr_lobster replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
I don't see a real reason why we should change the gameplan now. Pulling Downey from the lineup (more than he was during the regular season) arguably puts our stars in a position where they have to worry about protecting themselves more or standing up for each other. Downey doesn't seem to be a liability, and I think we need either him or McCarty in the lineup each night to bring a consistent physical presence. -
He makes bad decisions in both ends here and there, but it's not like Sammy doesn't have games where he plays well. As long as that's the case and he's not squeezing the stick, I don't mind it. I agree with what someone said about Hartigan, though. He's too indistinct to have out there in our current lineup...rather have a reserve forward with straight speed or checking ability than him, yes.
-
Exactly, and you'd think that'd be part of the equation for him -- he gets a ton of ice time and gets to play with six (seven?) of his countrymen.

Before each series, I sacrifice a goat with my bare hands and produce a burnt offering before an embalmed shrine of Scotty Bowman, spreading the entrails upon mint condition draft year playing cards of the current roster, including any scratches. Some call it quirky, but it's worked okay so far.
