Wings still strong, but other West foes could get in way
dallas27 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Chicago has 36:1 odds to go all the way. Me and a buddy are going to go halfsies for 100 bucks on it. Stupid not to, damn good odds for that team. Other than that semi-related bit of information, Frei has no idea what he is talking about. I don't think he could have written a worse article hammered. -
You should punch that person in the face

Ummmmmmmmm. Matthew Belamy. He's better than any American counterpart. Not to mention he plays the piano as well. I tell people they should listen to Muse. But people don't listen. They should, I won't steer you astray. Nobody beats them live either. 03:58 Also check out; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZdnjB0yOWQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjZEOEKr-DI

I'm not sorry at all, I was up til 3:30 playing NHL 09 then up at 6 to play golf, which could have been an easy 69 or 70. That is much more satisfying. You all suck. I hate you guys. It's my life. God. *slams door*

This much is true. But Roy still revolutionized it. Roy's size, positioning and butterfly changed what is the standard for NHL goalies.

To be fair, any negative stat for Hasek is automatically discounted. It's the equivalent of taking a mulligan until you hit the shot 2 feet from the pin.

The question at hand isn't based off hypotheticals and as Imisssergei said it's a cop-out basing your decision on waiting and seeing what happens. Who would you rather have, Hossa or Franzen? Again, the answer is simple. Hossa. And again, as I said 3-4 pages back, THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT SAY FRANZEN IS PEOPLE AT LETSGOWINGS.COM. Why? Because they are homers and just don't know any better. If Kenny Holland would take Franzen over Hossa he would be criticized relentlessly. You don't take a Franzen type of player before Hossa. Hossa is a franchise player.

Let's say there is a Red Wing scout at my game tonight and they like what they see and I get a minor league contract. Let's say that the cost of a barrel of oil goes down 50% Let's say the Wings win every single game Let's say the Wings lose every single game Let's say the Wings end up with the worst defense in the league Let's say, again, that your avatar, Kitna, wins here on out and leads the Lions to the Super Bowl Let's say Hossa ends up with 120 points Let's say Franzen ends up with 40 points Let's say Hossa ends up with 70 points Let's say Franzen ends up with 71 points Let's say Osgood ends up with a 0.50 GAA Let's say I could keep going on with the let's says Stop with the what-if's and let's says people. It's getting old. Hossa is a better hockey player, always will be. Franzen, without a doubt, is going to be a real good hockey player. But as good as Hossa? I don't think so. And as Dabura said, if Hossa says 7 flat and you are taking Franzen at 5 million, you should be shot in the head.

My dad makes the loudest mouth/jaw noises when he eats, I have to eat on the other side of the room. I HATE mouth noises when people eat. I also hate talking about my day and how everything is going when I eat. Finish your food. Then talk to me. Dinner time is eat, be quiet and watch Seinfeld and/or the game.

Play at Fraser. Registered and playing, not sure about our roster and such though. Don't play in any other ones, had to pay 200 bucks for this one so that's all I can afford. I'm a fugging goalie, I never have to pay to play hockey, paying to play hockey has become foreign to me lol.

Upper B for me, mostly former AAA and Junior players. We could probably be moved up as well as we are going to be playing some A teams throughout the season. Hopefully they will be sending us to Districts too.

It's easy to say how he'd measure up in a discussion like this; he's the best, the guy won 11 gold medals. He was even Hasek's goalie coach, so you tell me how he measures up with Hasek. Just because he played internationally doesn't mean you can't compare him. Is an apple in the states different than an apple overseas? They are all goalies. Tretiak Roy Brodeur Hasek Sawchuk Roy revolutionized how goalies today play the game, he is responsible for the butterfly.

Because Hossa is a better hockey player, it's a simple question with a simple answer. Ok. Let's also say that Hank only ends up with 50 points this season and his contract is 1/09834588709 of what it would have been. Let's also say Osgood gets a shutout every game. How insane would that be? I'm feeling a little crazy today, let's say the Lions win every game from here on out and win the Superbowl. Do you see where I am going with this? Car analogy eh. It's not like picking between two cars at all. But, I can do that. Picking between Franzen and Hossa is like picking between a Focus and a Ferrari. But go ahead, you test drive the Focus to see how you like it compared to the Ferrari.

We won the cup with Osgood playing lights out. Is he going to repeat and have a career year again? That point is moot. (Hossa was TIED with Hank for the most points in the playoffs btw)

The question at hand is who would you rather have. The answer is easy and should be unanimous; Hossa. For reasons that have been discussed to as why Hossa is such a damn good hockey player for months and months. If you don't have to worry about giving Mule a raise and you cut some SALARY fitting Hossa on the team probably wouldn't be that difficult for Mr. Holland, and that isn't counting a CAP raise either.
-
If Mule has more points than Hossa at the end of the season I will give you whatever is in my bank account. I'll give you 1000000000 to 1 odds as well. *edit* And as I've said before, the only people in the world that take Mule over Hossa is letsgowings.com
-
All that is needed to know is every single person outside letsgowings.com says Hossa 10 out of 10 times, as do I. Eva is completely right about being a homer when it comes to this question. Everyone here seems to think that the Wings need some "toughness" which is funny within itself because the Wings aren't that type of team one iota.
-
Nobody honestly believed this right? If so...are you an eskimo? Because I have some ice to sell over here.
-
"Teams don’t repeat unless you’re Detroit" Hahahahha, that's great.
-
Exactly. I was going to comment on how you can probably bet that Mule and Hossa will come up when Hank and Mr. Holland are discussing his contract. As much as I love Hossa, Mr. Holland has to drive into Hank's head that first and foremost he is the future of this franchise and wants to keep him as a career Red Wing. Although I'm sure Hank already knows he is.

Hossa skates with the team, feels right at home...
dallas27 replied to Shutemdown's topic in General
We all didn't think Hossa taking that big of a hit and signing here when teams were offering much more money was possible. But Kenny and Hossa got it done. So as much as it seems impossible to sign Hossa long-term it very well could happen. Hockey players are not prima donnas so Hossa's statements about this team are most likely in good heart, and I'm sure both Kenny and Hossa want Hossa to stay here, it's just a matter of making the money work. But if it doesn't, who cares, we have freaking Marian Hossa. -

The mini-mites that do a shoot-out in between periods would totally kick the Wings ass, it's actually one of the things I look forward to going to the Joe to see. Cheering for those little guys is fun as hell.

Guys, guys, guys But they went 4-0 in pre-season

I can say it's absolute nonsense, especially if you don't make a logical argument. And many people don't share it, the ones that do don't let their homer goggles and immense hatred for Fedorov get in the way. The list is going to be different for everyone. Some people go purely on skill, some do role players, some do a mix. For a list like this I don't see how role players factor in at all. If I'm looking for the best possible line(s) I don't take a role player over a superstar. If I'm looking to put a team on the ice it's going to be a little different. Think of this list as an all-star game line-up. Draper and other role players have no means to be in it. Good hockey players no doubt, and I wouldn't trade them, but not deserving of being on the all-star team.
