You should listen to Muse, more importantly at 03:57; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaNfQCqclW4 And everyone has heard this song:

    All-time Red Wing team

You have watched him play right? More importantly, have you watched him play in person? Based purely and strictly on skill, Fedorov is the best hockey player to ever wear a winged wheel. How anyone can argue this is beyond me. Is there a better team player? Of course. But if you are going on raw talent, nobody surpasses Fedorov. Unfortunately everyone let's their hatred for Fedorov blind them, and don't you sit there and say it doesn't. Because 99% of the time it does.

    All-time Red Wing team

If you are going purely on skill, Fedorov is the best hockey player to ever put on a Detroit Red Wings jersey. The man made other professional hockey players look like mini-mites out there. By far the best skater as well, you'd be hard pressed to find one better for some time to come.

Pics: Red Wings Enjoy Informal Practice

I have a love/hate relationship with these pictures Stan Matwijiw is the goalie coach now eh? Went to one of his goalie camps years and years ago. He pulled me aside and asked why I played house and not travel the year before, told him no teams wanted me, he couldn't understand why nobody would. Sorta wanna say hey Stan, remember me, I'm A LOT better now, played some junior hockey, practiced with Petr Sykora, soooooo if you like wanna invite me to a practice or something that would be cool. Maybe hook me up with a Hossa autograph, that would be pretty sweet too. Ahhhh pipe dreams, at least they happen in my head.

Hockey season starts tonight, for me at least. Haven't played goal in about 4-5 months so we'll see how it goes. We have a really good team though so shouldn't be too bad. If it's as any good as I've heard it is we could maybe go to Nationals, if he put us in there.

That's because cats are too busy being the top predator in the wild http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSJnppzwIIM http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/898/yiolhuuw6.jpg I'd love a cop dog though

No dog hating. Dogs are just totally dependent on humans, which is meh to me. Wolves are bad ass. They can problem solve. Dogs will just sit there and lick their balls and wait for a human to solve their problem. The domestic house cat hunts over 1000 species and can fend for themselves, which I like. 2 cats and a german shepherd for me, well one day.

Left me speechless. Be careful about saying Filppula is a distant fourth though, people don't take too kindly to those words 'round here.

    Babcock speaks about line combos

Because I don't jump on Flip and ride him til' he bucks means it's venom? So because I say he isn't a first-line center it's venom? Because I say he is a career second-liner it's venom? Because I say he is a 50 point type of guy it's venom? Again, this goes back to the "Bobby Orr" goal in the playoffs. Guy does that everyone thinks it vaults him into a first-line 80 point getting center. He's a role player on this team and always will be. He does everything he is asked and does it at 110%. If that is venom then so be it, I like to see it as the truth (sometimes the truth hurts).

Anywhere in there did I say anything about padding his stats? Thank you! But again, you aren't going to get the same production out of Hossa with Flip centering him. Just a statement of fact, has nothing to do with padding Hossa's stats. I wasn't aware of that, thank you. Brett Hull was 38 in '02. I don't believe they were going to get Brett Hull type numbers in his prime. He was also a one-tool player, especially, especially at 38. He could score, and that's it. Hossa, on the otherhand, can do anything he wants. If you have never stepped on the ice how do you even have a clue what chemistry is on the ice? It's easy to sit back in a chair and go "oooohhhhhh, throwing them on the ice does work out, who would have thought?" Players of Hossa, Hank, Datysuk, Lidstrom, etc. skill level aren't going to have any problem with chemistry. Why did Robitaille look like a fish out of water? Because he was way past his prime? Unlike Brett Hull, who was going through the same thing, didn't have a rocket shot. Robitaille had nothing to fall back on. Hull could just sit back and have Datysuk toss the puck to him so he could put it in the net. I'm sure that probably had something to do with why Hull loved playing with him. Someone else on the current team would have a ton of fun playing with Datsyuk too. Can't put my thumb on him though.

No venom, I said he plays his role to a T, all of which you said above. For whatever reason people think he is somehow going to get 60-70 points a season which he just simply won't. He is a role player and he plays his role very well. And he won't hinder Hossa, don't get me wrong, but he certainly won't be the best of help either if Datsyuk is the other candidate.

    Babcock speaks about line combos

Never said he was, but way to make up stuff to try and make a point. It's not about padding his stats, it's about getting the most out of him. And you sure as hell ain't going to get the most out of him by sticking him with Valterri freaking Filpulla. Don't know what Flip is giving you guys to smoke to be in love with him, but please pass it my way. Secondly, stop with the chemistry stuff. People have no right to chime in about chemistry if you haven't played the game (and at a high level), pardon me if you have.

    Babcock speaks about line combos

You aren't going to get the same production out of Hossa with Flip centering him (again overrated, he gets a "Bobby Orrish" type goal and the guy is an instant superstar here) as opposed with Datsyuk. You don't bring in Hossa and tell him "instead of having one of the best centers in the NHL center you we are going to have a career second-liner center you." And as Chunky said chemistry won't be a problem. I've been to countless select camps and good hockey players just know how to play hockey. Doesn't matter who they are.

Hašek looks to return (that didn't take long)

I can see The Dominator at least being the back-up for the next Olympics, it is only a year and some odd months away. I would say I can see him at least being the goalie coach...but then I found myself scratching my head as would the other goaltenders when Dom is trying to explain how to make a certain save Goalie #2308439: "Dom, just go out and do it yourself"

    Babcock speaks about line combos

Could? Forgetting about PP time? No doubt Hossa cracks 50 goals. I said at least 55 months ago, still sticking to it. And honestly, we better hope he scores all the goals he can so he realizes Detroit is where he should be for the rest of his career. On top of that I predict that Z, Dats and Hossa all have 90 points at the end of the season. Every single one of them is too dominant ALONE not to at this point in their career. I just don't see how any team in the NHL can contain this team. Detroit can hurt you in sooooo many GD ways it's unbelievable. I don't care how many people do the whole "ohhhhhhhhhhh don't jinx them" BS but this team is just flat-out ridiculously good from TOP TO BOTTOM and I can't see how they don't dominate the league. It's easy to sit there and come back with "oh they look good on paper!!!" a la the Detroit Tigers (more on them later). Well, yea, they do, but they are proven and they add a proven FRANCHISE player to the team? Please. We are about to see a team that could go down as the greatest in history (sans the '80 Olympic team). I mean, Datysuk and Hossa (which I imagined it would be, I can't see anyone else feeding the puck to the Hoss) on the same line is like...s***, I don't have any good Detroit Tiger references to quote :p34hr: Correction, I do...Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker. Flip is overrated on LGW, he may be a second line center at some point. But he will not be the all-star most think he will be. He's a good hockey player and does his role to a T, don't get me wrong, but he is overrated here.

Hossa spotted in the winged wheel.

That he is, that he is. We've known it for quite some time and I think it's slowly starting to filter into other people. Even if he is only here for one year we all better feel damn, damn lucky that he took less money to play here thus enabling us to watch him EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. I feel Hank, Pav, Lids, Drapes, everyone is going to preach to the Hoss that it's the team before the money and hopefully that sets in. There is a Rod Allen drinking game, so I don't see why there can't be a Hossa one.

I smell my arm. Don't ask me why. It drives my dad crazy. Mom says let me be. I'm a momma's boy (which I will admit). My friend who got his degree in psychology says it's a comfort thing or something like that.

Hossa spotted in the winged wheel.

Seconded, on both accounts. That isn't even the red jersey either. All that needs to happen now is for Kenny to brainwash Hossa as he has done with every other player on the Red Wings. He might not need to do that however, as Hossa will see soon see how dominant he is going to be in a winged wheel.

    2008 Detroit Tigers Season Thread

Thanks Captain Obvious, it's quite easy to analyze the trade after a couple outtings of horrible pitching. But during the last few weeks in New York Farnsworth was putting up some damn impressive numbers, numbers a lot better than what the Tigers had in their bullpen Having Pudge right now means nothing the way the bullpen is pitching. He can't go out on the mound and pitch to himself. Re-signing Farnsworth doesn't seem like a wise option or an option at all and they should waive or release every single person in the bullpen sans Bobby Seay. Which is really, really bad when you think about him being your best option in the bullpen.

    2008 Detroit Tigers Season Thread

Pudge had a no-trade clause and could have very easily exercised it. He had a part in how the way it ended. But Pudge, being a smart man, knew that he has a better shot with the Yankees to make the playoffs. Pudge is also a free agent after this year, that of which the Tigers would most likely not sign. They get Farnsworth, who will help the bullpen, and have a shot at signing in the off-season. Especially if he keeps pitching the way he does. IF he kept pitching like he did in New York he is in the millions of dollars. But as of right now he'd be lucky to get one million. *edit* At least check out Farnsworth stats before you start to run your mouth about how much he sucks.
