    Official: Hasek announces retirement

Glad to see Hasek going out on-top as a champion, he's been one his whole career. Next stop for Hasek? In a hall at Toronto. Could really spend all day talking about how great of a goalie he was, will never see one like him again that's for sure, which is also a testament to his character. Luckily we got to watch him play for quite some time with the Wings. Cheers *edit* And just for Loo; Hasek is lazy and he sucks™

    Cup Sightings

Lidstrom and Zetterberg had it at a bar in Birmingham the other night. I forgot the name. I'm too lazy to ask the person at work that told me.

    Parade Attendance? 1.4 MILLION?

If I were a betting man I would put some money down that it's that time of the month for some people in this thread

    Parade Attendance? 1.4 MILLION?

And Sarnia and Tecumseh and Lasalle. I work at a store where probably half our already big customer base is Canadian and quite a few of them wear a Tigers or Red Wings hat, shirt, or what have you. 1.4 may be a stretch but I don't think it's too far of a stretch.

    Brad Stuart needs to stay!

I didn't see the hit on Crosby and have been searching for it on youtube for days. Thankfully it was posted. Crosby kicks the wall lmao. Did Stuart take his lollipop too?

    Parade Attendance? 1.4 MILLION?

You would be surprised how many people from Windsor support the Red Wings and the Tigers.

I forgot when the NHL became the NBA

Nobody has to worry about the NHL turning into the NBA or NFL. It won't ever be popular enough to. I could care less about the media. All I care about (and so should you) is the product that Mr. I puts on the ice (and in his pizza joints).

Sundin may test free agency; wants big money

I'd be willing to bet that kind of money would entice Hossa if presented to him, from the defending Stanley Cup champions, who if they got him, would pprrroooobably be favorites to repeat. Not directed at you but I know Hossa doesn't perform in the playoffs though, with his 26 points.

    Most Overrated/Underrated Red Wing?

I see you didn't mention that he let in back-to-back goals 9 and 11 seconds apart. I love the lack of credit you give Osgood, especially when he has won games numerous times during this playoff run for the Wings, and default to it's the team that won them YET you are so, so quick to give ONE example about Hasek stealing a game (which he did). Seems that you have a short term memory problem as well

    Conn Smythe Trophy Discussion

They don't give up as many shots, but if you look at the scoring oppurtunities between the Wings and whoever they may be playing they are strikingly similiar.

If we win game 5 - Celebrations in Downtown?

Greektown area will be your best bet downtown. You're going to have to go out to somewhere like Royal Oak as previously mentioned if you want to walk around with people. I'm hoping the parade is Thursday as I have it off

Why the NHL is trying to change..

To make more money. Simple as that.

    Conn Smythe Trophy Discussion

We aren't having this discussion without Osgood in net. 'Nuff said.

Okay, I'm officially sick of it

Based on that, it's a homer thing to say, but that's what I would expect. And 5 pages on this makes everyone in this thread a little whining ***** just like Crosby even though none of you want to hear that. Zetterberg is not nearly as young (seven years is quite a difference, Crosby is TWENTY), and while he is a better complete hockey player he is not as flashy or marketable as Crosby or AO in the "new NHL" He's the captain of a team at twenty, was the MVP, "led" his team to the Stanley Cup Finals, everything points in his direction to as why they should market him. It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp. And again, why everyone is ready to jump off a cliff because this team and it's players don't get enough love from all the media is beyond me. Listen to 97.1 if you constantly want to hear about how great the Wings are but even then every caller ******* about Crosby too. What is more important, what happens ON the ice or OFF the ice? Wrap your finger around that one for a little bit. And what is even funnier is when people say "OH, I like it when everyone doesn't pick us to win." Well which one is it. Do you not want them to pick the Wings or do you want them to write every article on them? Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Okay, I'm officially sick of it

Everyone here needs to take a marketing class. It's going to be non-stop Crosby coverage. You should have known this going into series. And you should not be expecting anything less until Monday when the series comes to an end. Crosby, sans the rapist playoff beard, is a pretty good looking guy, a phenomenal hockey player and YOUNG. Bettman and co. will try to ***** him out to every national media outlet and opportunity they can. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, it ain't going to go away. Get used to it. CROSBY IS THE BEST THING THE NHL HAS GOING FOR THEM IN TERMS OF MAKING MONEY AND GETTING THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE NHL. If Bettman was smart he would tell AO to learn English and clean himself up so he has another person to promote. And honestly, I don't know why people care so much. Everyone single person on this board knows the team that we have and have had for more than a decade. That is all that matters. Why people insist on every media outlet to write feel-good stories about something we ALREADY KNOW is beyond me. *edit* SWF I just read "I guess my stance is that I wish people would accept that Crosby is going to be one of the main marketing pieces for a long while (assuming he still produces on the ice) since he's only 20, and he's from this continent and move on. But maybe what I am failing to see or accept myself is that people already have accepted this and are maybe not tired of it, but would like to see the NHL do new stuff and promote other players as well, like you said." and that's all I needed to see to agree.

    Post Everytime You Look

My mom is cooking all sorts of food for their "get together" tomorrow and it smells real good. I say I can't wait to eat it. She says she only has enough for 8 people. So I say you are going to let your own son starve, that's very motherly of you. Maybe while they have this get together tomorrow I'll cook my own delicious food. And once I'm done, throw the remaining away and claim that I only had enough for one person and a garbage can. That should teach her.
  20. Three straight trips to the ECF with the same core and still can't get it done. Saunders is gone.
  21. And I really hate to throw this out there, but I actually don't, Pistons could have drafted Carmello Anthony. That's music to the ears right now.
  22. Avery Johnson will be the new Pistons coach. Book it.

Red Wings might have good shot at Sundin

Seeing as Hossa is going to be a free agent, and his team is going to be eliminated in 2 games, I'd love to think Hossa considering taking 6 millionish to play on the Wings, the very team that eliminated him. The Wings certainly will still be one of the favorites going into next season to make it to the Cup finals again. My pipe dream of Hossa signing with the Wings continues.

    Joe Vision

Got mine at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy today. I asked if I get a discount if I look remarkably similiar to Zetterberg. She didn't find it as funny as I did.
