    Tootoo at it again

Besides the fact that you said wrong? From that replay it appears as if he takes 2 strides, which he is allowed (at least I think it's 2 strides) and checks the guy. I could care less what he does after it, my beef is with people saying it was a dirty hit, but from that replay it was a clean hit.

He is a positional goaltender, one of the best in the NHL, more times than not he doesn't have to make a desperation save. I don't buy this. Goalies in the NHL, assuming they can see the shot, are going to be in position to make a save. And as SWF said who cares if it's 2-1 or 5-4. Saying that there has to be more scoring is a sell out in my book. But I guess that is what it boils down to nowadays, putting people in the seats.
  3. I hope the don't see the Knicks in the playoffs...oh wait

    Favorite Youtube Video?

Most clips are fights and/ or big hits. Gee, Bettman, maybe you should head over to lgw.com and take notes. People go to a hockey game and want to see a fight, not a shoot-out.

It's a little different. Plus, when was the last time he played in the NHL?

Thanks for proving more that most everyone on this board thinks that a good clean hit that someone throws that is not on the Red Wings is dirty or whatever. It was a clean hit. What he did after was dirty but not that check.

A while, I'd be more concerned about getting him up to NHL's game speed than fighting.

Unfortunately for Dom they teach us that you NEVER change a direct quote, no matter if it makes ZERO sense.

is there any respect amongst players these days?

It really doesn't even boil down to player respect, it's just being smart. You don't check someone from behind. And you certainly don't take two hands and whack someone across the face with a stick. If it's serious enough they should throw a battery charge in.

The original topic was on death threats. That is what I was responding to. In terms of talking on the ice, nothing is off-limits, it's heat of the moment stuff. He obviously isn't going to do that off the ice.

Because that's what all NHL goalies rely on, extra padding. All NHL goalies should be in the beer leagues right now because it's the equipment that is making the saves. Here we go. I love how people single out Giguere and claim that he is the only reason why pads should be changed. Just discount the fact that he is a big boy, quick and is always in position. But it's just the pads, you are right.

On the ice; no. Anything is fair game. Off the ice; yes. Played this dirty, dirty team a few weeks ago, wasn't pretty. Off the ice at the bar they came up and apologized. All bets are off on the ice, it's really nothing personal, just heat of the moment stuff. *edit* To make it clear, this is in response to the topic of Andre Roy

True, but don't discredit goalies. Sometimes they have a say on what the score is.

I am part of that 5% and I would say it's less than that. NOTHING, NOTHING beats a 1-0 game in the Stanley Cup finals. That has intensity and drama written allllll over it. You are on the edge of your seat all game.

I am all for Mac returning but don't tell all the Mac haters to eat crow quite yet. I'm sure this is mostly the Wings wanting to give Mac, who's been through some tough times, a second shot just because he is Mac. Don't expect him to be scoring goals or anything remotely close to that. He's going to serve his role which will be just like Downey's.

Are the Wings going to get a new arena?

They need to if they [Detroit] want to keep the NAIAS. Don't see it happening though. If the economy wasn't so bad they could have an arena up in no time, along with the renovations and expansion of Cobo. But right now with this economy it would take them at least 2-3 years to finish all that.

    The D dilema

If Stuart commands the money he can get on the open market I'd rather be spending that 4-6 mil on a scorer.

    Goalie Pads

Don't forget about the 1st baseman's glove. If we really want to get into the size of players glove; second is usually the smallest (around 11.25'') next some shortstops (11.5'' to 12'') then third base, first base and the outfield (12'' to 13''). First base mitts are designed completely different as well.

That was a clean hit. The cross-check was cheap but what else is he going to do, he knows whoever is skating by him is going to do the same thing to him. And furthermore, with this intent to injure bs, what game are they playing again? OHHHHHHHHHH, HOCKEY. That's right. I forgot that when someone throws a big clean hit (that is not someone from the Red Wings) it's a dirty hit here.

    Goalie Pads

Come on now. It's above his ear because his head is down, ANY chest protector is going to do that in that position. And, on top of that, his blocker and glove are where they should be. I can go all day if you want me to. He's in a perfect set position other than his glove being pointed towards the shooter. A lot of goalies have the problem though.

    Brett Favre Retires

Good luck with that. I remember way back when on this board when people were ADAMANT that Joey Ballgame was going to turn into the best qb ever.
