Considering Mr. Illitch owns both the Tigers and the Wings I reckon they should have included the Wings in that list. Nascar. We're in a gas/oil crisis and they are only perpetuating it.

What kind or Shape for Next Years FA market?

Surely Kovalchuk doesn't want to play in Atlanta for the rest of his career -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
dallas27 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Guy a) Has an upside of 50-55 pts and a second line center. Terrific backchecker and defensively. At times lacks offensive vision but has the ability to see the ice well and has excellent puck control. Elevates his play in the playoffs, not a game changer by any means but nonetheless steps it up when is needed. Went from 11 points in the playoffs to 16 in two seasons. Guy b) Has put up 100 pts one season and has the ability to take over a game. Bonafide all-star. Equally as terrific, if not better, backchecker and defensively. Has one of the quickest releases in hockey, deadly wrist shot. Arguably one of the most explosive skaters n the NHL. Has a history of of "playoff choking" but despite this put up 26 pts and a lackluster 15 the past two years. Keep in mind however, this person has more playoff points than Pavel Datysuk in the same amount of games. You have to trade guy a to keep guy b. Keep in mind this team has a RFA that they will lose to an offer sheet because they will not be able to match it. Oh hey, that team wins draft picks! Score! They will most likely lose another free agent as he isn't worth the money he will be offered. So the depth argument gets thrown out the window. Do you do it? I think what it really boils down to is if a team drastically goes over the rumored 4-4.5 million offer. There are obviously teams out there that can throw their house at Hossa but if he were to get offers in the 6-7 million dollar range why not eat the 2 million difference to stay on a team that is going to be on a mission next season and was one game away from winning the Stanley Cup? But you can't blame him for jumping ship if a team is gonna offer in the 8-9 million range, after all money does talk. -
Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
dallas27 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Where did he say that would be the Wings' case? I think he was commenting on the caliber of player Hossa is and how much of a difference he can make to a team. The only thing that is laughable is your filled arguments/comments that has anything to do with Hossa. Everyone can try to front load a contract to try and trick Hossa but there is a difference between 40 million over x years and 80 million over x years. I'm hoping for two things; That Mr. Holland has a back-up plan, which I'm sure he does, in case Hossa takes off and that we know in two days whether Hossa is a Wing or not. -
I saw him downtown at Wayne State asking for change! I haven't been on here much but in the last two days your rehashed sarcasm that everyone on this forum is against Filppula is already tiresome. Nobody is. He's a good hockey player, did relatively well in the playoffs too, just wish he would shoot more. What I have against it is if Holland is afraid to trade him to keep Hossa, at a reasonable price. No more than what I guessed but hopefully less. Sucks about the if part. Anything more than that it's good luck to Hossa. There are plenty of free agents the Wings can sign that will fill a role if Hossa isn't willing to take one for the team.

My first order of business would be to ask Ralfaski if he would waive his NTC, hope they cover half the salary and sign Bouwmeester around $4.5. Not gonna happen but boy did I get excited thinking about it. *edit* Call me crazy but I would also contact Bertuzzi to see if he would sign for beans. It would be nice to have his body against the Ducks...

If you feel the need to rub my buzzed head I hede you this; I am anything but good luck.

Ottawa Sun: Wings have made lucrative long term offer to Hossa
dallas27 replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
Really, ? Are we 15 year old girls? No argument? Other than the hey, I can look cool and sarcastic at the same time with some emocations. Bottom line is $4 million for Hossa is highway robbery. I wouldn't go anything higher than that because I will agree depth is more important. But for $4 million and all you have to do is trade Filppula and make it easy on yourself for the cap? Hell, you don't even have to trade Filppula. Make Maltby retire and trade Lilja. At least Zetts made an effort to make counterpoints. And as I already responded to his post, you can take a look at that one. -

Well...I would imagine it would be hard to be just as good defensively as the Selke winner. You could also tell Hossa was playing hurt, granted it wasn't a broken foot, but you could still see him lingering. I wouldn't go anymore than 4 million. You aren't sacrificing that much depth if you really look at it; someone is gonna make Hudler an offer the Red Wings can not match, hello draft picks. Sammy is going to make more money somewhere else, and while he scores some timely goal(s) in the playoffs I can live without him. It all boils down to Valterri Flippula. You're losing Valterri Flippula for Marian Hossa. Why would anyone not do that? So can that same excuse be applied to Hank? I didn't say he was. I said you can argue. I will say he is one of the purest goal scorers in the NHL. -
Ottawa Sun: Wings have made lucrative long term offer to Hossa
dallas27 replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
For the "he disappears in the playoffs" people; In both 98 games games played in the playoffs, Hossa has 13 more points (76) than Datsyuk (63). I find it amazing how an offer of *4 million* for one of the best players in the game sends people running for the hills. Do you honestly think Mr. Holland would do something to this team that would hurt their depth and chances at winning the cup? I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Holland talked the NHL to raising the cap 4 million. You can sit there and argue that he disappeared all you want, the guy had someone up his ass every shift, but besides Ovechkin you can argue Hossa is the purest goal scorer in the NHL. -
For as much as everyone does bash him...he scores some timely, timely goals in the playoffs. He's really the only one that could have scored the one in ot against Anaheim (*edit* it was Chicago) because he's a right handed shot. Any lefty puts that right into the goalies chest, if they could even get the shot off.

Than Jessica Simpson. Saying you wouldn't take Hossa at FOUR MILLION is like saying you wouldn't trade freaking Kirk Maltby for Malkin and Crosby. The amount of stupidity on this site is beyond comprehension. P.S. You wouldn't say no to Megan Fox. Any heterosexual male wouldn't. Four Million. I'm gonna pass. Wow. I don't think there is a chance in hell it's gonna happen at 4 million. But Jesus Christ. I'm gonna pass on Marian Hossa for 4 million.
-
Let me put this into a perspective everyone can understand. Saying you wouldn't take Hossa at 4 million is like if Megan Fox / Brad Pitt came up to you and said take me out to McDonalds for dinner and then have sexual relations with me after and you saying no, I'll pass. And the Darwin winner iisssssss...

http://tinyurl.com/rbo5lk Hank - Dats - Homer Franzen - Flip - Hossa Clears - Helm - Leino Abs - Drapes - Kopecky Lids - Ralf Big Rig - Stuart Kronner - Lebda ? Osgood Howard Funny how months upon months ago I said it's time to bring up the Grap boys and every single person said they weren't ready...huh *edit* My bad, thought Homer was a free agent after this year. I'm too lazy to rework numbers

I would love if Christmas came early and Crosby got kronwalled

I've been calling him Helmoshima to my friends for some time. He's like a little nuclear weapon out there...

What does Max Talbot have in common with Brian Campbell?

Hey, I'm French Canadian assholes /sarcasm I really am though, so piss off -
You can teach defense. When it boils down to it being good defensively means staying in position. You can't teach Hudler's touch around the net nor his awareness. His slap pass is extremely underrated as well. I've always thought Flip was a good hockey player, jack of all trades, but most importantly...overrated on this board. Still maintain that mindet. As you and YG have said, that's not taking anything away from his play as of late. Because him and Hossa on the same line has been money in terms of overall effort. You ask me that months ago and I laughed...
-
I'm the same way. Twist with me though, being a goalie, had to learn how to shoot lefty seeing as I catch with that hand. Still righty when I skate out.

His loyalty to the best organization in all sports, which can be seen from top to bottom.

$4.7 million ~ 10 years if the Wings win the cup.

Lidstrom named a top 10 favorite for the Conn Smythe.
dallas27 replied to Ms_Hockey's topic in General
At this point in his career I will take a Conn Smythe Lidstrom over a Norris Lidstrom 10 out of 10 times, he has all the Norris trophies he needs. -
Really, everyone is posting pictures from last year. Come on, you can't beat my lumberjack. It takes me three days to grow it that full lol. My friend also made this haha:
-
I lost all interest when Burnside said Because those game meant a ton. Not to mention Hossa AND Lidstrom were out the last game. Good try using that as a valid point though Burnside.

I was happy he got Franzen inked...untill I saw 11 years. At most, I see Franzen keeping this up for 4-5 years. You're crazy if you think he's going to be playing/scoring how is now when he is 40 years old. I'm still trying to figure out how Mr. Holland could not get the cap number down to 3.0-3.5 over 11 years.
