It really sucks to be old school. My Uncle won't even watch hockey anymore, says Bettman pansified hockey, which he did. I mean the first thing I am saying when I see someone going to the corner is knock him on his *bleeping* ass. I mean when Downey waved off the refs the other night that was the first time I got on my feet and screamed in a long time. I don't give a crap what anyone says, I'd rather watch a fight than a shoot-out anyday. Sorta like Eddie Shore.

Yea. but truth be told I wouldn't mind them being a lower seed come playoff time. NYC is the most amazing city you can go to. I've been to most of the major ones. Chicago is a close second. Chicgao is a fun little city. Good bars too. And you HAVE to go to Old Billy Goats Tavern and get a double with egg. The ULTIMATE hangover food.

I can't believe the stones are struggling as much as they are

Bass is really good bear, especially on draft. Oh, what I would do to go back to NYC. And by bear I meant beer

It's hockey. I feel you should be expected to be held, grabbed, clutched and knocked on your ass. Guess I'm old school.

Amen to Lilja. That's how hockey USED to be. USED to be that if you f'd with Stevie once Proby would GIVE YOU A WARNING and tell you not to do it again. And if you did it again, well, you got Proby. And he beat the tar out of you.

Me, I think watching the Tigers game and obviously frustrated This is a pic probably from a year and a half ago but I like it cuz my cuz is in it with me

lol, nice. I was 5'4'' probably until freshman year of high school. Not sure. I was a late bloomer I know that much. It honestly gets on your nerves when you tell someone that you are a goalie and they go "well, but you're so small." I know I'm small but I've been scouted and all that good stuff so cut me some slack. This is a true story; At one tryout they were going to go with another goalie just because he was bigger than me. Other goalie said no because I deserved it more. I have to give him serious props for that because if I was in his position I wouldn't have done the same thing.

Yes, you can have a goaltender at 5'9'' or 5'10''...I'm 5'10'' (on a good day). Not saying you can plop me in the NHL today. But I'm tired of hearing you can't be a good goalie because you are small. *hint* What we make up for size is in speed and reaction time.

That was such a dive

Scotty is our Dick Cheney...no way he leaves the Wings, you know he is running the show behind the curtains. And no question about Yzerman.
-
Tell that to Henrik Lundqvist or Tim Thomas or even Biron. All in the top 5 for shots against. If the Rangers didn't have Lundqvist they would not have a shot at anything. When it comes to Detroit sure, how dominant the wings really are will boost any goalies stats, but there are a lot of goalies out there who's teams aren't that great defensively or great period that are doing things that has nothing to do with the system.

My friend is having Festivus....but she goes to Boston Uni and I'm stuck in Michigan.
-
As I said, it's useless. Sure it can buffer it. But it's not a product of the system as you state it is. If it were than throw in your beer league goalie and see what happens. And hypotheticals are what they are.......hypothetical. If I get my golf handicap down a stroke to a .2 there is no way I can lose in the amateur next year. Hypothetical.
-
I mean was Cujo's play in the 03-04 playoffs (.940 sv%) a product of the system? Hell no, they freaking blew.
-
I was going post links proving that you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to which is the most important stat in terms of goaltending and how the SV% being a product of the system is utterly ridiculous...but it won't change your mind.
-
And that is assuming he does. One of two things has to happen for him. One; he somehow flips a switch and returns to form the next game he plays. Or two; he has to hope that Ozzie really cools off GAA means nothing compared to save percentage. GAA is more of a product of the system than the goalie. Save percentage however isn't. That's all on the goalie.

You haven't been to a concert until you see Muse live; they've won countless best live act or performance or whatever they call it. Went to the 89x birthday bash in August. Simply amazing. Nobody plays the guitar better than Matthew Bellamy but that's just imo. Watch for the guitar solo at 3:40 --

Scott Mitchell. Dunno if you are trying to be a smartass or funny. You succeeded at one.

The goalie always has an impact during the playoffs whether it be good or bad. Same thing with the Lions quarterback. I thought this was common knowledge.

1. Petr Sykora was one of them...so I would say my tactic MAY work in the NHL. I won't go as far and say it will. 2. You're picking one example. Anyone can pick one example and make them a hall of famer. Although that is sorta moot when you are talking about Hasek because we all know that is where he is headed. He's not good on breakaways. If I wanted a goalie to make 3 or 4 saves in a row I'll call Hasek. But if I need someone in a shootout it certainly ain't gonna be him.

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/33f2687080 Some f-bombs if any kids are around. Freaking hilarious.
-
Osgood has faced 71 more shots than Hasek...
-
For some reason I always thought Hasek was taller than 5'11''
-
Sorta getting tired of the "he faced breakaways" arguement. Part of the job of being a goaltender is stopping breakaways. I've played some junior hockey and it's not that hard as long as you make the shooter make the first move. Unfortunately for Dom he really has no style that you would or can teach, it's simply his own, and it just happens to REALLY blow at breakaways.
