    Trade Val if necessary.

I'm really getting sick of this argument, because it isn't one. So let me ask you, and everyone, a question. Do you think every other team out there isn't getting better? Are they just going to turn over because they sympathize with the situation the Red Wings are in and stop improving? Fact of the matter is, they HAVE to keep either Hossa or Franzen and Hudler if it means something as simple as trading Flip. Not trading Flip is going to make the team worse than if they do. I have no idea where these 60-70 point expectations people have been throwing out have come from. He does everything well, but nothing exceptional.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

The only problem with this is Franzen will never succeed where Homer does. You'll see Franzen's goals slash in half, at least, if his sole job is to sit in front of the net and screen. Franzen is best suited floating around a 5 footish radius around the net which is where he scores majority of his goals.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

The only person that I think has a physical presence is Homer in front of the net. Kopecky, as much as it pains me to say this, is the next person to have a physical presence. Knowing how to use your body and being a physical presence are two different things imo. It's what separates enforcers from other players.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

In Mule's arena? Because if you are saying Franzen is better than Hossa in talent and intangibles you could not be any more off base. Franzen is a pure goal scorer, that's about it. He's not a threat anywhere else on the ice. Hossa, on the other hand, is a threat in both ends of the ice. It all comes down to how much each wants, if Hossa wants a lot more than Franzen, grab Franzen. You can take a shot at Hudler too. If Franzen wants nearly the same as Hossa, gotta take Hossa. It's all money at this point.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

    Marian Hossa: 6'1'' - 210 lb Johan Franzen: 6'3'' - 218 lb I think they wash out

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

Not if he has another "Bobby Orrish" type goal. That vaulted him to superstar status here.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

His upside is going to be 50 points tops imo, I just don't see him as a 70 point game breaker type of player. Even when he had opportunities to skate with Hossa or any of the top two lines this year he has looked lost. He could prove me wrong, I would gladly eat my crow. But why should I have that chance when you could have Hudler (who is only 2 years older and may end up with 70 points) and Franzen (a big body who may end up with 40 goals) or Hossa, one of the premier two way players in the NHL and quite possibly the best player on the ice when he is on his game? I'd be happy with either one.

Hossa's agent weighs in on Zetterberg deal

Second post down That's 1.4 million under what the cap is now, add another forward if you would like. I don't get the argument of bringing up that much "unproven NHL talent," they have to learn someday. Seems to me playing with that line-up would be a perfect time to learn. Either way, Mr. Holland has to deal Flip. Doing so pretty much guarantees Hossa or Franzen and Hudler, take your pick. The Wings don't need a 3 million dollar defensive forward if it means one of those two options.

Z down. Who is next for extension?

My dream scenario, I'm not counting on it, so don't flip out on me internet style. Either Hudler or Sammy will sign for 1.5, take whoever will. The more I look at that 6 by Ralfaski's name the more I hate it. ZDH is reunited. Leino and Hudler = Datysuk in terms of dishing the puck to the Hoss. Lebda is a floater. Offense: Zetterberg (6) - Datsyuk (6.7) - Holmstrom (2.25) Hudler (1.5) - Leino (.9) - Hossa (6) Cleary (2.8) - Helm (.6) - Abdelkader (.74) Meech (.483) - Draper (1.583) - Maltby (.883) Defense: Lidstrom (7.45) - Stuart (3.75) Ralfaski (6) - Kronwall (3) Ericcson (.9) - Lilja (1.25) Lebda (.650) Goalie: Osgood (1.417) Howard (.717) TOTAL : 55.573 (1.4ish million UNDER this year's cap for all the "the cap is going to go down" people) *EDIT* QUESTION: I made my mock Wings jersey for Hossa before he signed, when everyone (except Eva) thought it was IMPOSSIBLE to do so. Do I keep it on him or do I make a mock long-term contract and put that as my avatar?

Z down. Who is next for extension?

At this point I think you have to look at trading Flip as a viable option solely because it gives Mr. Holland a ton more options and money to spread around. Even if that means keeping Hossa OR Franzen and Hudler. The Wings don't need a 3 million dollar defensive forward right now or in the near future really, with Helm and Abdelkader waiting in GRap. Food for thought: We all know Hank could have easily gotten 7 mil if he played hard ball with Mr. Holland, there is just no question about that, and he would have been worth it even at that. But do you think Mr. Holland sat Hank down and said something along the lines of "Hank, we all know how much you are worth to this organization, but if you are willing to take 6 mil a year it sends a message to Hossa and in turn both of us can make a serious pitch to him staying here long-term at a contract similar to yours."

    Traditions and Superstitions

My superstitions? I dress from right to left. Wear the same socks I won States in. I tap the right post, left post, right post, right post, right post, left post, right post, left post, right post, left post, right post, left post before the period starts (I give them a ton of love). Never scratch the crease. Obviously never say shutout. Take two drinks of water after a goal goes in. After a whistle I only skate around the left circle. I'm a goalie, what do you expect?

1/20 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Coyotes 6

If I am Babcock I make them do suicides for hours everyday during the break, in no way shape or form do they deserve a break.

Chris Osgood- What do we do?

From a technical standpoint Conklin is quicker, plays his angles better and anticipates much better than Osgood. That being said, I'm still waiting to reserve judgment, have half a season left. If Conklin is still outplaying Osgood in March give him the bulk of the starts and see how he holds up. Otherwise I want the goalie who has won multiple cups and has 106 playoff games under his belt, not the guy with a goose egg (well one, he faced a whopping 3 shots). I do love saying conkblock though...
  14. Apparently the sun rises in the west too. Don't shoot the messenger, that's what I heard from someone who pulled it out of his ass. I'm guessing six years - 42 million for Hank.

    "The Courage of Detroit"

Have you had a Boston Cooler? Best float you will ever have. For those who don't know it's a root beer float but in place of the root beer have Vernor's. Best float. Sore throat? Drink some Vernors. Long day at work? Have some brandy and Vernors. Soooooo many applications for Vernors.

Nice. I buy at least two a week. I could go to the BK Lounge OR I could go get a pizza for $5. Tubby's anyone? Also a Detroit original. Mushroom, Steak and Cheese. Their subs are the best around.

1/8 GDT: Stars, 1 at Red Wings, 6

For the most part, it takes FIVE other mistakes for a goalie to let in a goal.

Good. I started growing mine out a couple weeks ago (dunno if you remember my lumberjack picture) in hopes it would spark the Wings and everyone wants me to shave it. Yea, well, the Wings have been playing great since I have started growing it so there isn't any way in hell I am shaving. I did have to trim it for work though.

Not that I am one but I would then point to the countless 5 on 3's the Wings had to kill in the beginning of the season.

Wasted? At a house party my cousin takes us to. I got bored with this rrrreeaallll fast. High school isn't my scene, I'm of age I'm going to the bar. "All right guys, I'm leaving, let me pound all your beers." So I leave, my friend comes running after me, "dude I couldn't stay there either." Got off at the wrong station on the L in Chicago with my buddy. Walked through boys town, saw a bunch of dudes run out of the bar and push each other up against the walls and start making out (I told my friend that we have to start running because there is no way I am getting swept up in that). We turn the corner and this bum says "I'm going to be honest with you guys, I need 20 bucks so I can get laid." Needless to say we told him if we had 20 bucks on us, even between us, we would give it you. Best bum ever. Actually classy compared to the ones in D-Town. Buddy tells me that all of us are leaving the bar so I need to pound this stuff. I do, I can't even tell you who gone I was before that. We get to the Bentley/Ferrari/Exotic car dealership. "Yep, I told you guys, here it comes" blahhhhhhhhhhhhhh all over the dealership. "All right, I'm done, let's go to the next bar." To this day my friends say that is the best reaction to throwing up they have ever seen, I didn't even really stop, it was almost like a drive-by yak. After the next bar we start walking home, that one superman that ho song was on at the bar so we start walking down Michigan ave. yelling "traffic sign that ho" and "painter scaffolding that ho" and "stop light the ho" and pretty much everything we saw we ho'd. We had an epic Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon battle in the painter scaffolding. We get to my buddies apartment overlooking all of Chicago. We pop in Guitar Hero. This is by far the best ending to any night. My buddy, guitar in hand, yells "ssssuuuucccckkkkkk ooonnnnnn mmmyyyyyyyy b*****lllssssss Chhhhiiiccaaagggoo" No pictures though, sorry. We're going again soon though, maybe I'll get some this time.

    "The Courage of Detroit"

For anyone that lives in Detroit / Michigan try to notice that, if you already don't. We look like a bunch of penguins waddling down the street, hands stuffed in our pockets. It's unfortunate that this article will be tossed aside from anyone outside of Michigan. Oh well, like Albom said, this is our city. There is a ton more he could have thrown in that article as well. The DSO, the Fox, the Fisher building (which has amazing architecture in it), Campus Martius, we have some of the best medical schools around and Greektown. Pegasus has the best food you can find in Detroit. And we have the best deal in America, $5 hot and ready baby. And Vernors. Faygo. Better Made. It's easy to continue on.
