    Why are we worrying?

Why is everyone worrying? Simple. Becauase if they continue to play defense the way they are a repeat is far, far from their grasp. No matter what statistics you throw out there it doesn't hide the biggest glare, the defense. And when they continue to struggle and make bone-headed play it gives right to be worried. You're going to say, well they have the rest of the season to figure it out. That's true, and I would agree with you. But if they don't work out all the kinks and play SOLID defensively over a long period of time there is a chance they could revert back to how they are playing D now. Quite frankly, San Jose is a scary, scary team and I don't like the Wings chances in the playoffs against them if they are playing anything remotely close to what they call "defense" right now.

    Hossa.....WOW

Hank's going to take a hometown discount, how much that discount will be, who knows... Franzen will most definitely be getting a raise. Assuming he doesn't take a hometown discount, let's just say he goes up to 5 million. Flip's cap number right now is 3 million. That's 8 million right there if you let Mule walk and trade Flip. And is anyone going to miss Sammy? Bring Leino up. Everyone here wants to see him play in a winged wheel already, so don't give me any bs that everyone wants Leino to stay in Grand Rapids for a few years. Give Hossa, the 7.25(?) million he's making now and backload (however appropriate) the contract. Think any other fans pity us for talking about who to keep? *edit* But, on the other hand, you sorta gotta give Hank what he wants

11/14 GDT: Red Wings 3, Florida Panthers 2

    A) Your Datysuk agrument is useless because he is already locked up, unless you are trying to prove some other point. Which you aren't, because if Datysuk gets just as many points as Hossa he [Hossa] shouldn't ask for much more. Which would be a steal. B) You're right, trying to lock up arguably the best player on the ice right now is dumb and premature. You win. It's not like Hossa has already deferred more amounts of money to play for the Wings...

11/14 GDT: Red Wings 3, Florida Panthers 2

My point is, game in and game out, Hossa proves that he is worth letting Mule (who is the SAME AGE as Hossa) walk and dumping Flip and Hudler in order to keep Hossa. It may or may not be that simple. Salary wise it is.

11/14 GDT: Red Wings 3, Florida Panthers 2

(Hossa has had more goals then Mule in the past 40 games btw) It is, for good reason. I don't have my homer Red Wings visors on. Again, I don't know what Hossa has to do, other than his projected 115 point season (which in all reality is a damn near good possibilty) to convince people here that he Kenny Holland should lock him up.

11/14 GDT: Red Wings 3, Florida Panthers 2

Franzen has had his goals presented to him like a new york strip. Hossa sucks at backchecking though, so yea, he is def. not worth it at all. He is lazy and he sucks. Mule > Hossa, I give. What in the sam f'ing hell does Hossa have to do for everyone at lgw to convince them?

11/14 GDT: Red Wings 3, Florida Panthers 2

Hossa further proving that Mule + Flip + Hudler even though they have Leino and Abdelkader (sp?) waiting in the grap is not worth it, at all.

My dad is the loudest eater in the world, I can't even begin to tell you how much it annoys the s*** out of me. I just plugged my ears for a minute so I didn't have to listen to him. I'm upstairs, he's freaking downstairs.

Who would produce the most on the 2nd line?

Nobody on the Wings other than Hossa, Datsyuk or Homer would produce on a line with Hank and Mule. Regardless of who of the remaining Wings you stick with Hank and Mule they aren't going to score as much as them. You just gotta go with the next best offensive player and hope for the best, which would be Hudler. Look at it this way; in all reality Hank and *edit* (maybe) Mule will have about 40-45 goals when all is said and done. Do you expect any of whoever it is on their line to do the same? Asking someone to produce as much as everyone here expects the person who is with Hank and Mule is a tall order (sorry Hudler, no knock to you) and simply isn't going to happen.

Hossa can't believe his good fortune

Trying to say Hossa isn't worth it because the "injury bug" that can hit anyone at any time is ridiculous. Hossa is damn near close to averaging 80 games a year, at 78, which smashes your "injury bug" argument. No further explanation needed. Heeeeerrrrrreeeeee we go, experience. I assume you also want Howard to rot in the GRap as well? The only way you get experience...iiiisssssssssssss???!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? Iiiissssssss??!?!?! Oh, they gotta play. They won't get experience rotting in GRap like Howard has done. *edit* And if there ever was a perfect time for them to get experience it would be with guys like Lidstrom, Datysuk, Hossa and Hank who can carry most of the workload. I made no mention to how he was a perennial 100 point scorer. I DID, however, say in the Wings system he would be a perennial 100 point scorer. He's never had Pavel Datysuk dishing the puck to him. You need to stop treating guys like Flip and Hudler like they are freaking all-stars. They are disposable if that means keeping Marian Hossa. I'm sure at the trade deadline you were in the we can't get rid of Flip for Hossa because Flip is way too valuable to the team. But I'm done trying to convince you Hossa > Hudler and Flip. Even though, I'd guess, anyone not on this site would pick 10 times out of 10.

Hossa can't believe his good fortune

I think Flip and Hudler are really good hockey players, they wouldn't be on the team if they weren't, but you aren't losing much by dumping Flip and Hudler's salary for a draft pick when you have guys like Leino, Abdelkader and Helm waiting in the GRap. Losing Mule would be a tough pill to swallow until you realize who you get in return; someone who is going to be a perennial 100 point guy every season playing in the Wings system and who is just as good in his own end. And the Red Wings will never be extremely thin, I think we all know how well they draft.

Hossa can't believe his good fortune

He's the best player on any team. He's shown us time in and time out that he can simply take over a game whenever he wants to. And the biggest asset of his game: He is the hardest backchecker on the team. Hossa has been my favorite player for years and years but the more I think about it I believe Holland is more committed to keeping what the "core" was before Hossa came here together even though you can tell as time goes on that Hossa is eating the team first mentality up. It's stupid because I'm taking Hossa over Mule and dumping Flip, Hudler, etc. to keep him. Hossa is 29, he's still going to continue playing his best hockey for 4-5 more years. I just don't think Holland is willing to dump three or four people to keep someone. Loyalty is a damn good thing, but I think it's going to be getting in the way this time around.

I feel if I were to open a beet farm and a bed and breakfast AND call it Schrute Beet Farms I would make a lot of money. I need a cousin Moe though...
  20. I hope the Wings get him so we all can laugh at the rest of the NHL for letting Mr. Holland bend them over and giving it to 'em by grabbing Hossa AND Sundin.

    12 Games in - You're Holland...

The Wings got Draper for a dollar. What does everyone expect to get out of Lebda? When people say "trade him for a jock strap" they are usually joking. But with Lebda I'm not so sure...

    12 Games in - You're Holland...

I was more or less commenting on how everyone feels the Wings need that physical, gritty forward. Kopecky is the closest thing to it, as sad as that is.

    12 Games in - You're Holland...

Think of genius marketing ideas like Jackie Moon... For the no Kopecky crowd: Kopecky is really the only semblance of constant physical play from the Wings...
