    Detroit Pistons Season Thread

I will say it again: If I'm any team in the NBA I am sh*tting my pants right now. This Detroit team is going to be scary good The Pistons schedule the next couple games: at Trail Blazers (Nov. 11) vs Celtics (Nov. 15) at Mavericks (Nov. 19) at Rockets (Nov. 18) vs Nuggets (Nov. 23) Those are all winnable games, the Mavs or the Rockets could do them in. It wouldn't surprise me that they win all of them or only lose one. Magic (went something along these lines)- "Detroit is starting to make a serious run doing serious damage to the league in the regular season and do some serious damage in the playoffs" I wonder if any sports show people will start to change their tune today, if not after the next couple.

I think it's a national show. But considering we have two radio station purely dedicated for sports I can see why you would think that.

Jim Rome- "Game night operations director Leland Patton reportedly was responsible for rolling in video showing dilapidated buildings, burned out cars and barren streets filled with garbage. Believe me, if you think Detroit can riot with the best of them, you just gave them a reason to do so. I’ve been to the “D and I came away thinking two things about that town: 1) Great sports fans. 2) You do not want to crack on their city. They don’t like that." http://www.jimrome.com/home/article/article_4.html

Put down the crack pipe. No s**t Sherlock. Amazing how people always think whatever you say is all seriousness. As if the...didn't...help...at...all... I don't see Vick and TO getting along, especially since we know Vick is a decent qb. If he's gonng ***** about McNabb he sure as hell is gonna tear Vick a new one.

And after the game they should have played a mother beating a red-headed step child becuase that's what the Pistons did to them. Tim Legler is such an idiot. His top three things for week one included that the "Pistons are still elite." No fukkin' s**t dumbass, what, did they just fall off the face of the earth and become a s***ty team? Old Pistons D + Flips new offense + rekindled bench = NBA Championship But it is gonna take them seven games to beat San Antonio. I'm sticking by my statement that the Pistons will be the deepest team once everyone gets situated.

    Lions vs. Vikings

who cares? garcia isnt an improvement, or hell, i'll throw you a bone, he isn't ENOUGH of an improvent to salvage ANYTHING. Quoting from Dallas27--"You are judging Garcia based on two games. He single handely won the Cleveland game but pretty much lost it for them two weeks ago. There is a difference between the two, Garcia can make plays and Joey can't. You have seen from both games that Garcia can make plays. Sometimes it gets him in trouble other times it makes him look awesome, that's the change you take. But you have seen all 3 years that Joey has been here that he can't make plays. How can you judge a qb on passing touchdowns? I could give a f less if Joey, Garcia, or Orvlosky passed for 200 yards and 1 td as long as they win the game and keep the offense moving. How about Garcia is a diagonal movement from Joey."

And I would agree with that but Joey still has to know that he has to throw it past the sticks. Oh well.... I forgot to mention this but also, the thing I like about Garcia is that he gets pissed at himself when he does make a mistake. He just doesn't walk off like Joey going through the motions. Two weeks ago you could read Garcia's lips just letting off a f-bomb.

There are other recievers out there are there not? And you can guess for a fact that the reciever breaking yards short of the sticks was called for the play. It's not like we have never seen it before. Regardless Joey has to throw it past the sticks, plain and simple, force it in there, but you HAVE to throw it past the sticks. --You are judging Garcia based on two games. Now that the season is pretty much tanked for I say start Orvlosky, see if he can do anything. It's certainly not going to hurt. Maybe Favre will leave Green Bay...pick up him...but I don't think any logical qb would want to come to Detroit.

    Lions vs. Vikings

Did you see that awesome 2 yard pass Joey threw on 4th and 7 to lose any shot of winning the game. It's not all of Joeys or Mooches fault but they play a big role in it. Joey can't make a right decision for the life of him and Mooch and the oc can't call play for the life of them. I'm sick of Joey Harrington throwing it 3 yards on third down when they need 6. The sad thing is he has been doing it since his rookie year. And for petes sake Joey get rid of the damn ball, throw it away, dump it off, do something. He does so many wrong things that I think Kyle Orton or any other rookie quarterback doesn't do this year. Prichett is right, Joey should just pack his bag, sell his house, and ditch town. It's obvious that he's not going to thrive on this team, he's regressing and he's still making those rookie mistakes. *EDIT* Prichett is also right in the fact that Mooches offense just isn't working in Detroit. You can see the obvious success it has elsewhere but it just ain't happenin' here. Get Rivers over here and impliment San Diegos offense here, KJ needs at least 30 touches a game like LT does over there. I think Garcia is an improvement over Joey.

So, do you believe that team chemistry does nothing? Again, they are big boys. Maybe you guys and NFL players can't just write things off like I can. I can give a f*ck less of what someone says about me. As long as he produces on the field who gives a flying f about what he says OFF the field. ONE person should not mess up the chemistry of a 54 man roster. If the other 53 players want to sit and cry and moan about what he is saying they shouldn't be in pads. They should be knitting a sweater...

I'm one of the few that think he is still worth the trouble. He's still putting up huge numbers... He can say what he wants, to a certain degree, his teammates are big boys and should be able to know that his words don't mean s**t.

I didn't see much of the game but I'm assuming since they were down by 6 they weren't doing to well, which in that case the bench won't play. Now in tonights game....lol....you can see the bench is pretty dang good. If I were the Eastern Conference and the San Antonio Spurs I would be starting to worry. I know it's only 3 games into the season but Detroit has already shown their resilancy(sp?) e.g. yesterdays game and how they just flat out pwn people eg first game and tonights game. Wait til' 20-30 games in when the whole bench and starting five are used to Flips offense...this team is gonna be scary good and they are playing the underdog role for both the ECF and the Finals...and that just makes them that much scarier.

    Lions game Sunday

Well considering Minnesota has a horrible passing defense and overall defense Joey "should" have no problem. Hell I'm going to go easy on him and just request 1 touchdown and 0 INT. Let's see if he can do that simple task. I wouldn't give up on KJ that easily there JohnO, he hasn't had any help from anybody. When defenses know that you can't beat them passing they are gonna stack the box...not to mention the o-line can't open any holes.

Bahahahahah the shoot-around crew over at ESPN are already changing their tune about the Pistons and the Eastern Conference Champs.....Ohhhhh man I thought it would take them half the season to start changing their tune but one freakin' game takes the cake. BTW half way through the season the Pistons will really let out a beast. Darko actually looks pretty damn decent out there and Joe D says this is the year he breaks out. Delfino looks rock solid, see him take those two guys baseline and reverse slam on their ass? Dice looked a little off, all his shots were short, but once he gets dialed in he's good for 10-15. Evans looks good as well, a bigger but less talented Chauncey, he can drain the three with no prob and drive the ball. Maxiel is gonna be a beast and Dale Davis is going to be another solid player. Arroyo looks much better now with Flip at coach. Damn that covers their whole bench, all of who which played last night. The thing is I even haven't mentioned the starting five yet. People talk about how "deep" Miami is and I laugh at that. Detroit is going to be a much, much deeper team that has LOADS of YOUNG, YOUNG, talent. Yes they played a somewhat diminished 76ers team but they still are a playoff team are they not? The Stones had no problem whatsoever running circles around them. I really did enjoy the Pistons being #3 in the Eastern Conference though

    Bears vs. Lions afterthoughts

Joey or Orvlosky DOES NOT WIN THAT GAME. Garcia had to scramble for that td, Joey can barely put his right foot past his left out there. Orvlosky maybe, he has shown in the Motor City Bowl that he can scramble, but that was college. Garcia made quite a few good plays out there during that game to win it for them, something that Harrington has failed to do game in and game out. Garcia did something that Harrington couldn't, put points on the board. He got a win out of one and another that he "put them into position to win" That's an improvement in my book, may not be much, but it is an improvement.

    Bears vs. Lions afterthoughts

Sorry man, but f**k that, if Joey Harrington was in the game yesterday and pulled the s**t that Garcia pulled the fans would've burned the stadium DOWN. If Garcia is only 70% he shouldn't have been playing, we would be in exactly the same place if Joey were in. Seriously, he made Joey-like mistakes the entire game, the only thing Garcia has over Joey is that he makes some things out of nothing, but who cares? The end result is the same. Garcia is not the answer, he's not a step up, he's a step to the side, he's 35 years old, what is the next move? Personally, I'd fire Mooch, fire Millen, at this point another shake up is needed and if the coaching isn't the problem, we need to trade our entire offense away. He has personaly said that he is only 70 or 75%....and he's still better than Joey at that. Think real hard for a second....would Mooch be playing Garcia if he didn't think he was better? If Garcia wins that game your kissing his ass, simple as that. I'm not making it out to be that Garcia is going to take the Lions to the Super Bowl or he's gonna be on this team for years to come but he is better than Joey. The Lions NEVER WIN two weeks ago with Harrington in. I notice you didn't make ANY comments on his play that game maybe becuase you can't make any comments without him making any mistakes. Garcia also has a 75 qb rating over Joeys 55

    Bears vs. Lions afterthoughts

Keep in mind Garcia is about "70%" Garcia is an improvement over Harrington...Garcia just made some stupid decisions yesterday. Joey has made about 100 more stupid mistakes throughout his career than Garcia has and he has been playing in this league for 7 years. Funny how people give Garcia TWO games to judge him but give Joey 3.25 years
