When Talbot scored last night he interfered with Osgood who was then unable to make a play on the puck. Had it been Holmstrom instead of Talbot that goal would've been disallowed.
-
Detroit's defense has been MIA the entire season thus far, and certainly not up to last season's standard. A 5-2 lead early in the third that evaporated is unacceptable for a team looking to repeat as Cup champions no matter if it's early November or late March.

It looks like a Tron helmet to me.

It's the differential I'm worried about. http://www.fromtherink.com/2008/11/8/65681...ot-differential The Red Wings are currently ranked thirteenth.

Zetterberg if he brings his girlfriend. Serioulsy though, probably Holmstrom, Draper or Chelios. And of those three, I'd probably go with Chelios.

The Coyotes do. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?s...g&year=2009 Doc - No I didn't. I just skimmed it. She makes valid points, but I'm disillusioned right now based on recent personal experiences. Detroit is the best the United States can offier, and the broadcast media's coverage of the championship-winning team and most championship-winning organization in Detroit is lame. It's not as lame as ESPN's NHL coverage, but it's pretty ******* lame.

Let me tell you why Detroit doesn't deserve the title of Hockeytown. Sunday WXYT online, the Red Wings flagship station, was broadcasting an American football game, not the Wings game. This example wasn't the first time either. As much as I hate to agree with Jamie Sameulsen, who admitedly likes to cause controversy, he was right when he wrote Detroit is an American football town. Darren McCarty, a Red Wing, stated the same thing. Matt and many others here have posted similar thoughts. The plain and simple fact is there is no Hockeytown, U.S.A. Red Wings coverage during the regular season is minimal in Detroit. Hockey coverage is minimal in the U.S.A. Probably no other city can top Detroit - except every single Canadian village, town and city.

I haven't checked this year, but there was one on the Detroit Red Wings site last year. Still the one I use most is the one on my Google Calendar, which I then set up to alert me via e-mail. It can be found doing a public calendar search typing "2008 -2009 Detroit Red Wings calendar." Then if you have a GMail account it can be forwarded to any e-mail address, and if I'm not mistaken can be texted to a cell phone.

Looks great Matt, but in the 4:3 ratio ones, they sure are PC-centric. Hopefully that'll be changing for me soon though.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games

In the near future it won't matter anyway. People at home will be able to chose which view they want. They'll be their own director so to speak. -
Link does not deliver, SI didn't show Chris Osgood's mask. There's some good artwork there though. Call me a homer, but I like Conklin's the best. Still I miss Legace's Wings mask.

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games

Doesn't bother me. I like it those angles, but I also like the traditional angles too. My two cents: put cameras on top of the glass and in the corners. -
Wow, 15 games, all 30 teams played, that was cool. And early this morning, when I couldn't get back to sleep, I checked ESPN to see if there was any coverage. Nada.

I hope it's the gothic D, not the Old English D as featured above.

Some of us realize, like coach Mike Babcock does, that the team needs to improve. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=team...ype=team_report “As a group, we have to be better,” Babcock said. “You want to feel good about how you’re playing. Hopefully we can take a step defensively, because we’re giving up way too much.”
-
I think coach Mike Babcock could be chicken little, at the very least he's not very appreciative of last night's winning performance, which was dominant for nearly two periods. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=team...ype=team_report “As a group, we have to be better,” Babcock said. “You want to feel good about how you’re playing. Hopefully we can take a step defensively, because we’re giving up way too much.” Brian Rafalski seems pretty critical of his team too. “All the games have been close. We’ve been in all these situations throughout the playoffs last year, so everyone knows what to do. Maybe take the game more to them instead of sit back and watch.”
-
Cool. I just don't see many Toronto fans forgoing the Leafs for a new team.
-
I disagree. I'm very appreciative.
-
Just so I'm clear, I'm a spoiled brat for wanting to see my team do well? Is that right? So I'm a bandwagonner now too? Is the implication I dont' stick with them through thick or thin? I just want to be clear.

Oh, sorry, those sites are such reputable sources. Edit those yourself? I'll admit. I WAS WRONG. I might've been thinking about the hiatus John Buccigross was on in 2003. Or maybe it was ESPN nearly canceled or in fact did then brought NHL 2Night back after public uproar. What I did find was the cancellation was announced before the 2004 season ended, before the lockout and before the NHL - ESPN contract expired. http://www.ericmcerlain.com/offwingopinion...ives/003107.php

Yes let's! It'll be so much fun. Let's all compare ourselves to zeros instead of heroes. Let's all give A's to students regardless of how they perform. Every team should win the Stanley Cup because they all played so hard for 82 games. Sheesh I didn't say anything about panicking, but I guess I should compare my team to the League's dregs from here on out.
-
Odd that you pointed that out. I posted that on a sports site yesterday. I had one friend who thought the Wings started 0-6 last year. I thought just the opposite, or close to 6-0. The 3-1-1 record is pretty respectable. Still it's not as good as the Blues', Rangers', Canadiens', Sabres', Devils', Sharks', Oilers' or Wild's record. So the Wings are a bit behind the power curve this year. What did the top of League look last year? Any teams ahead of the Wings last year? Or was 3-1-1 tops? The Wings have matched last year's performance after five games, but that was then, this is now.
-
Nope. It was canceled in 2003.

Oh yeah that's right! ESPN's coverage was nonpareil when NHL games were on the four-letter. So good the network even 86'ed NHL2Night. Yes I can blame them.
-
Check out this. ESPN posted no NHL photos from Saturday's games. There were 13 games Saturday, yet ESPN didn't post even one photo from any of the 13. Not one! This is more proof the four-letter hates the League. More proof the NHL shouldn't go back to the Mickey Mouse networks.
