Withdrawls for sure. From must see TV to must avoid TV.

I feel sorry for other Olympic Games following these. It'll be hard to meet the pageantry of these games. All the other might as well just light the cauldron and start the Games. Even the competition has been outstanding.

Former soldier plays hockey on one leg and a prosthetic leg. http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=49592 Gotta love his desire in wanting to play hockey again.
-
I'm surprised that goal wasn't called back because as anyone can see, Homer was in the crease at that time.
-
You needed to read the caption to know that it wasn't game six when there are so many visible clues - Wings in red uniforms, Wings banners, all the empty seats, etc.
-
No worries. Now it was the Russian Five, and their puck-possession style game, that solidified my love of the Red Wings. That really appealed to me because it's the same way the Soviet Olympic teams and the 1980 U.S. team played.
-
This is the original question. I answered accordingly. That team, those players and what they did made me a hockey fan.
-
The 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team.

There are prorbably fewer incidents based on percentage too.

The NHL could have harsher suspensions if wanted. It chooses not to, which leads to incidents like Simon, Bertuzzi and McSorley. Ultimately if the NHL had harsher suspensions, the refs did their job, or maybe, as some have suggested, 86 the instigator rule, then these incidents wouldn't happen.

ABC will show five, but the rest will move from ESPN to Versus. I couldn't be happier. This is great news in my opinion. More leagues and sports need to jump on the Versus bandwagon. Like with the NHL, Versus will provide more IRL coverage than the four-letter did, but the sacrifice is giving up 23 million homes. Still it's positive move. Other races fans I've talked to our happy about the move too. Seems the Indianapolis Star can only publish negative reactions though. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...439/1004/SPORTS

Robin Miller is getting some positive feedback about the IRL moving to Versus. http://www.speedtv.com/auto-racing/article...g-for-august-20 In some of the questions and answers it's easy in my mind to replace IRL with NHL and NASCAR with NFL. For example: Too bad many around here weren't as positive, and still aren't, about the NHL's move to Versus.

It was http://www.jimrome.com/home/search.html?se...17&start=15 I can and do pass judgement. I've limited my ESPN viewing because of its anti-hockey bias. I won't listen to a Andrew Siciliano program again - either his own or as Rome's scab. What started this thread in the first place was Rome's replacement, Jason Whitlock, on Monday. He was going on and on about how college basketball was lame and so much inferior to college American football. Then about how much he was geeked up about the NFL starting. This was in the span of like 30 to 45 seconds. And I was like, "well I'm not." Bye, bye WNDE, hello XL950. Then later I was like, "well maybe I was too hasty." So back to WNDE. Whitlock then says, "nobody knows as much about (American) football than me." And I was like, "you pompous ass." Bye, bye WNDE, hello XL950. I usually give Hoosiers the benefit of the doubt, but Whitlock is an asshat.

Does anybody remember when Jim Rome had a replacement who said he wouldn't even talk hockey? It was maybe a month or two or three weeks ago. Somebody posted it. If not in this forum then in another. I'd like to know who that was. I searched this site, but couldn't find it. So if somebody remembers who that was who said that, could you please let me know? Or if somebody can find that thread, that would be appreciated too. Thanks.

They happen less often in college hockey and Olympic hockey.
-
You don't know that. There's that whole mentality of fighters that they need to protect the stars. That mentality led to a cheapshot. And it's all condoned in the NHL. If the NHL wanted to get rid of fighting and all that it could.
-
Bertuzzi, McSorley, Simon were suspended. They weren't banned forever from the NHL. I never said fighting should be banned. If Bettman and the NHL were truly worried about lawsuits as they seemed to be when they installed the safety nets, then I would think, obviously incorrectly, that they would be concerned about fighting, and fighting related incidents, leading to lawsuits too. Obviously, a player will have to die first.
-
I suppose it is the same difference, but if the NHL wanted to ban fighting then it'd ban, forever, the players who did. It's a tacit acceptance of fighting and players who do.
-
Yes, but it's not banned.
-
So I e-mailed the Jim Rome show. Here's the response:

Thanks A.T. Hun, I found it! http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...c=52474&hl= So now I'm looking for the guest host on July 17.

Bettman and the NHL can install the safety nets, which was reactionary. Yet they haven't banned fighting yet. What gives? More hypocrisy from the duplicitious one.
-
It's a litigous society. People sue everybody and anyone hoping they can get money from some one or anybody. Lawyers go after the deep pockets. Frankly I'm surprised the Canucks and the NHL haven't been sued yet.

Is there a way I can check my previous posts, past the last 10? I know I posted in that thread that I previously mentioned.
