Police officers, soldiers, sailors, and Marines wear gear that stop bullets traveling 400-plus miles per hour. While they look big, they don't look as big as Michelin Man who stops pucks traveling at best 110 miles per hour.

That. Is. Pure. Cheese!

OsGod which would you rather see in future NHL games - bigger nets or smaller goalie gear? One or the other is going to happen. There's not a third option. One pill makes makes nets larger, one pill makes goalies smaller. The one that Bettman gave us hasn't done anything at all. Don't ask Michelin Man, he's already 10 feet tall, err wide.

I loved it, and he was right on in his opinion about fighting.

The Canadiens are playing great hockey right now. It'd be really cool in my opinion to see a Habs - Wings SCF.

Here is the latest story in which the Red Wings organization is named "league's class act." I could probably find at least a dozen more, and they wouldn't be from Detroit or Michigan papers either, that say the same thing. Surprisingly enough those kudos are from a Colorado newspaper. What's not surprising, from that paper, is the backhanded complement that follows it - "At least in the regular season." That implies that the Wings aren't the "league's class act" in the post-season. Yet there is not one NHL that has one more Cups from the mid-'90s to present. New Jersey and Detroit have both one three since 1995. However the Wings won their three Cups in a shorter time frame. In my opinion one could argue Detroit is the class of the league in the post-season too.

Finally! A win! I am relieved, but with Lidstrom's injury, a tinge of sadness remains. I hope he's not out very long.
-
I felt nauseous when I saw him escorted off the ice! Awful hit for Lidstrom, and far from clean in my opinion. Laperriere totally elbowed Lidstroms jaw. Which is why when I first heard it was knee injury I thought maybe it's to deceive other teams. Lidstrom looked groggy to me. Hope Lidstrom is able to recover quickly.

So I can't be disappointed my team hasn't won in six games? I can't be truthful and say the Wings aren't the best team right now or this past week? I can't be realistic and say the Wings might not make the playoffs?
-
Wow, that just breaks my heart. It's bad enough the Wings are on six-game losing streak. Now I got to deal with this. Damn I'm depressed. I also couldn't disagree more with Roloson's statement. "They have (uniform ads) in Europe and it doesn't take away from the true jersey look." Yeah dude, it pretty much does. It's also a slippery slope. Soon after the goalies get them, it'll be on all players. I guess the NHL didn't get my memo that I won't buy jerseys anymore after the RBK Edge disaster. This will set my resolve in stone.

Didn't think of that, just found that article today and thought it interesting enough to post. I usually like Terry Frei, even though he writes for a Denver paper. On a side not to that, the Blood Rivalry book is written by a Colorado guy, and it's pretty even-handed in my opinion.

Yep. I agree, though I haven't seen much of AO except the commercials, where I'm sure his personality is reigned in somewhat. I think Avery is great. Some others off the top of my head .... Hull, but he's retired. Kovalchuk, he pointed at Crosby , goto about the 2:15 mark. Roenick Chelios All can be outspoken on and off the ice.

Wings clearly need Cleary back in the fold.

Wow, Wings didn't even get a goal today. That's just sad, though Turco played very well. Howard did as well. It's amazing how far the Wings have fallen post-ASG. Dallas is now just eight points behind Detroit for the President's Cup. Might be better for the post-season if Dallas wins the PC. That is, if the Wings make the post-season.

Many automobile racing fans feel that way I'm sure. Anyway I agree with JR. "It was unfortunate, but you can't protect against everything."

Congress can't fix the U.S. much less pro sports. Government isn't the solution, government is the problem. - Ronald Reagan

It's not all the goalies' fault during the five-game slump. Still Osgood hasn't been the same since before the All-Star Game. If I was Babcock I would start Howard Sunday. That will be another tough game. Dallas beat the Ducks, 4-2 last night. It's been a tough February for the Wings, and like I posted the other day, it won't get any easier either - Avalanche Monday then the Western Canada swing which historically has been tough on the Wings.
-
Yep. Me too.

With apologies to Herb Brooks, no team has enough talent to win on talent alone, especially in a 30-team, post-lockout NHL.
-
Me too. Though Inultus and Opie make some good points.

I wouldn't mind seeing him back with the Wings. I just doubt he wants to come back to Detroit, and I doubt his ability. A very similar article was posted on mlive.com.

I like the flask. More importantly I like what I can put into the flask. Maybe a little Irish whiskey. Jameson or Bushmills? That is the question.
-
QFT! It's also more sensitive to the economy because the NHL relies on gate receipts more than just about any other sport. Please no. That was horrible and a distraction.

I think the smaller market teams need to get their act together instead of complaining. They need to start pulling their own weight. I guess if they can't, maybe the owners could change how much revenue is shared.
