And the Ducks too.

Pronger Gigeure Foote Jovanovski Marchant

Still looks like to me he led with the knee and elbow just about the whole time.

http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=345492 The major criticism the writer mentioned was the Chelios one - that the NHL isn't on ESPN. I bet many here can think of more than the ones listed there - Canadian teams leaving and high ticket prices. It hard to deny the successes though, and that he keeps his bosses happy.
-
In my guesstimation they don't switch because they want Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary in the same division. Those three teams are relatively close together.

You guys beat me by a nose. I was going to post they have nose for the goal.
-
That wouldn't be Colorado?

Should the NHL have first round byes in the playoffs?

Agreed. No wait I meant to quote your first post in this thread. -
OK I misunderstood about the whistle and watched it again. Ruutu leads with his knee and elbow. It's a dirty hit and he deserved the game misconduct.
-
The commentators said the offsides whistle had been blown. So anyway the hit is sliced, it's a dirty hit.

Until ESPN comes up with more money to buy the broadcast rights it's not going to happen. Should the players take less money if ESPN offers less? Becuase as we all should know now, costs are tied to revenues. I usually agree with Chelios, but he's absolutely wrong about this point ... again, and joshy207 is right. If Chelios wants a better TV contract he should start his own network. It's not like many networks are clamoring at the door to broadcast NHL games anyway. He is right about selling out buildings being a major problem. I'll give him that.

That might not be a bad idea. If they do, the Wings better get the world for him.

Voted Ducks, but couldn't see the results. The game last week was really close. Selanne tips the scales in the other direction now.

Mascots scare me. Even as a kid they did. Similar to way clowns did when I was a kid and still do. I remember as a kid, my family went to Kings Island and the Banana Splits were running around the park. My family had to drag me to stand next to one of them for a photo opportunity. Looking back on it, the photo was just for them. I didn't want my photo next to him even though I was a fan of the show. Mascots are also a distraction. Wouldn't it be better if during a timeout the parents chatted with their kids, taking the opportunity to teach them the intricacies of the game. Certainly seems more sensible to me. I hear that chatter at the Joe. I don't at other arenas.

I love it! I'll be sure to add it to my favorites.

I think there needs to be some kind of mid-season break, but the ASG bores me to tears. All of them do though. To make it means something, like MLB does, would be a horrendous mistake. I hate that baseball does it, and I would hate it if the NHL did it. MLB is one league the NHL should not emulate.

As well as the Wings are playing, I'm glad they aren't getting all the press.

If Lasorda said it, it must be true.

The Ducks are easily my most hated team right now.

Many writers are stating the game was a statement game. An example ....

Surely there must be more hockey teams besides the Red Wings that had record-breaking regular seasons only to fail in the post-season. Just curious but where do you get that information? I found MyESPN several months ago really liked it, visited the site frequently regarding hockey stories, stats, etc. Then I found I could also personalize SportingNews and CBS SportsLine. Now I visit those sites more than ESPN. It doesn't have anything to do with how ESPN has treated and continues to treat hockey either. Just like those others more and the chat there more than at ESPN. To be fair though, there are some features on ESPN that could be emulated on SportingNews and CBS SportsLine.

If the NHL was on any network of my choosing, I wish it was on CBS.

Well the AP writer called the Cleary - Pronger fight a draw. Even though all FSN West showed was Cleary turtling. Too bad FSN didn't show Pronger doing is Cat Woman impersonation.

Very good article about Lidstrom. It has some great quotes from other coaches and players, though it has some typos.

Yeah, I agree. Until a team he leads to a Cup victory wins it, that criticism will probably follow him.
