Versus' coverage is fine in my opinion. Just wish they'd show more games, instead of just Mondays and Tuesdays. What this extension means to me though is either - both parties are fine as things are and both are making money, or no other network is interested in the NHL.

If the NHL kept track of time of possession, which team do you think won that stat last night? The shots were dead even.

Very good article from Mr. Sharp. I agree with him too, even though I'd hate to see the Joe go away. However I also agree with Elshupacabra. It'd be hard to build a new arena without ticket prices being raised once the Wings started playing there. All around the NHL ticket prices need to be lowered. Haven't done the research, but I bet it's one of the most expensive sports in which to attend a game. It's also nice to see a journalist who provides some answers instead of just continued writing about problems. Also a personal note about attendance: I've been to plenty of sold-out games at the Joe that looked just as empty as it did last night, which was about 1,500 short of a sell-out.

I didn't read the article, but I heard Rome's replay of the interview yesterday, or at least the highlights. Maybe it's a bad joke on Pronger's part, but I just don't believe Edmonton fans burned his belongings. It seems to me that it's Pronger who can't let it go. He's a good defenceman, but he's dirty. I have very little respect for him as a hockey player. Because I have such an emotional investment in my teams, I wouldn't want him on the Wings no matter what.

I was so expecting Cleary to get the hat trick. Disappointed he didn't. Wings got two points, but not to seal the deal in regulation was disappointing too. The two Vancouver goal seemed flukey to me.

IMO the Wings would have to give up too much for either Hossa or Sundin, and neither or worth it. I think Hossa was auditioning so to speak for the Wings last night. He hasn't played that well all year, and probably hasn't played that well since he's been with the Thrashers. Also the Wings played lousy last night. All those factors should be taken into consideration.

That was a fascinating interview. It was good to hear his thoughts on the Wings players and his possible job with the Leafs. The interview is exactly the kind of hockey coverage that's needed in the U.S.

I like the candy-cane jersey, but it's not a Wings jersey. IIRC it's either a Cougar or Falcon jersey. Maybe if the Wings wanted to go retro they could wear the ones like when Howe first joined the Wings organization. The Wings logo then is a bit different than the one today.

It's a shame. However it's less time than Dan Snyder will be out of the NHL.

In 2004, it was ESPN's George Bodenheimer who said, "We don't need hockey." So I could understand why the NHL, Bettman and the BoG would refuse any relationship with ESPN thereafter. Even then, according to this article it was ESPN that dropped the NHL during the lockout.
