That's a good point. It seems the Hawks are riddled with the injury bug right now.

FINALLY! A win over the Blackhawks. I figured they might go 8-0 versus the Wings this year. Five straight losses for the Hawks.
-
Just got home, and I can't believe it's 3-0 already. Glad to see my boy Cleary score another!

I'm getting excited about the Winter Classic. Cool photo. If anybody finds a larger version of the above photo please let me know. It'd make great wallpaper. Also a good article about preparing the ice.

Awesome article by Bruce MacLeod about the Winter Classic.

Wear the Winged Wheel with pride! My brother wore his Colts gear there. He still lives. He also wore his Pacer gear to MSG back when that rivalry was hot.

No Lang? Seriously though, I think the Wings are hungrier this year. They're pissed they didn't win it all last year, and are looking to win It this year.
-
Missed the game due to work, but from the final score looks like a dominating win. After reading the GDT it looks like the game was a lot closer. Shots on goal were again close.

Wow check out the scathing article Allan Muir wrote over at SI. Some of the language he uses is priceless.

I usually cheer for Michigan when they play Ohio State, but in bowl games and other out of conference games I always cheer for the Big Ten. Always! Especially when going up against the SEC and Pac-10.
-
Maybe it's the "I'm saving my money to attend a game in the post-season" approach. That would be a logical way to do it too since the Michigan economy is so bad.
-
Seriously though, there seems to be more and more players who are saying that the size goalie equipment must be reduced. Crosby, Brodeur, Esposito are just three who I can think of who have complained about this issue.
-
So far, this season has been great! The only thing that's hacked me off was that three-game mini slump in November. I'm still cautiously optimistic. The way the NHL is anything can happen in the second half and the post-season.

According to the NHL game summaries they were sellouts too. http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20072008/GS020578.HTM http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20072008/GS020590.HTM Any mention of this ESPN, which is so quick to deride hockey but not tout its successes.

Let me know when ESPN talkingheads mention this. Which really means you won't have to let me know because ESPN won't because ESPN has a contract with the NBA. So much for journalism at the entertainment leader.

I have an idea for increased scoring - no goaltenders. Wouldn't have to worry about increasing the size of the goal nor decreasing goalie equipment, and it would only put 60 people out of work. Cut a hole in the back of the net so there wouldn't be an annoying face off to slow down the game either.

To me they have a different pronunciation. I think it can be attributed to Internet culture, Internet slang or leet. Or possibly a combination of all three.

Don't know about parking. I took a cab from the hotel to the arena. I'll be interested in hearing what you think of the arena and surroundings when you return.

According to the overnight ESPN show yesterday morning Hrdek said the NHL went to Boston and New York to host an outdoor game this year, but neither was feasible. Fenway because work is done on the field in winter, and Yankee Stadium because of a poor infrastructure.
-
Just got here. Have the Stars even shown up for this game? It sounds and looks like it's been all Wings so far?

What's truly amazing about that whole post was that Kornheiser gave the game a glowing review. Did he, or was somebody else filling in for him? Kornheiser hates hockey. Wilbon I expected to like it, but not Kornheiser. A 2.4 rating is great news in my opinion.

Well it was the fourth game in six days. Not that that should be an excuse, but it's understandable the Wings were flat. Still it's another Central Division loss. Usually the Wings dominate Central Division foes. What's been the difference this year? It doesn't seem logical for it to just be a coincidence. Maybe it is though with tail ends of back-to-backs, etc.

I didn't pick up on any of that today. The amount of stoppages were kinda bad, but still way less than some other sports. In my opinion the game kept my interest, and it was exciting. The announcers and fans passion added to that. The Winter Classic was far from boring, unlike this Rose Bowl game.

So happy Michigan won! Too bad the Illini are sucking. Hopefully the Buckeyes will win next week. That would be sweet!
