I'm always for a Big Ten team. Go Purdue! So are Michigan fans cheering for Purdue because of their Big Ten allegiance or CMU because it's an in state team?
-
ESPN posted some photos of them building the rink. The way ESPN does photos now from my MyESPN I can't link people up, but they're cool photos nonetheless.
-
Great news and a very good price too. Especially considering the cap figure will rise significantly next year, and more than likely the year after that.
-
Not using IE. I was using Safari or Firefox when I had troubles last night, but I haven't had any today.
-
So then you're a Wings fans first, then football, then hockey?
-
As much as it sucks that Zetterberg and Holmstrom are out, you're right. It will help him gauge his future needs.

When I first saw that this coincided with college bowl game I agreed with you. The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea for the reasons stated in the article I posted. Also the MNC game isn't until nearly a week later, so all the ones on the first aren't really that important.

The new forums look really nice. Thanks to the LGW crew for the Christmas present.

Brian Costello, of The Hockey News, reports that Sidney Crosby said that the size of goalie equipment needs to be reduced. Last week it was reported that Dallas Stars goalies made fun of Roberto Luongo because he wears an extra flap, for protection, on his pads. James Mirtle mentioned it in his blog too. It doesn't make sense to me why the NHL allows Luongo to exceed the stated rules. It also doesn't make sense to me why the NHL is considering making the nets bigger when it could reduce the size of goalie equipment. The technology is there to do so. Phil Esposito also thinks the size of goalie equipment should be reduced, and specifically said the gloves of today are enormous compared to when he played.

Nothing says I love you like a Detroit Red Wings game Good article about a deployed soldier who was able to see a Wings - Blues game while on leave. It almost brought tears to my eyes.

Both are small market teams. Maybe the next time around the NHL and NBC can get bigger market teams. That's why in another thread I posted I'd like to see the Wings and either the Blackhawks or Rangers. A cross-border game would be good too like Wings and Toronto or Montreal. Though if it's aimed at American markets the former options would be better. Many have complained about when the game being played during bowl season. The reasoning was to attract channel surfers and casual fans. Kinda makes senses to me.

I'm hoping for a blow-out in the Wings favor. Close games are good for cardiologists. Another reason is that it's a tail end of a back-to-back for the Wings. The front end is against a Central foe. So given those two things it could be a two-game slump for the Wings.

Or the Blues again the day after Christmas.

Nice to know some people have a sense of humour about it. Since they're teammates, maybe Satan made Simon step on Ruutu.

His profile number on ESPN is 666. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=666

I doubt the AP gives credit to stringers.
-
Fifty-one shot is an amazing total anyway you count it in my book, especially when compared to only allowing 19 on Hasek. Please don't give credit where it's not due. That's an AP story ESPN paid to have on its site. Same story, different sites ... NHL CBC CBS MyWay SportingNews TSN Yahoo!

I watched some of that game, PapaJohns.com Bowl, but mostly I watched the Michigan - UCLA basketball game. At first I thought a 16-year-old boy was announcing that football game, but then figured out it was Pam Oliver. Once I figured that out I could watch it in relative sanity. Anyway where did that game take place. It was sparse. Downright barren. I thought football games didn't have attendance problems. This game did. Glad Cincy won though. If a Big Ten school isn't playing, then I pull for a Midwestern team.
-
I agree; pro football games are mostly boring in my opinion. On my boring meter the NFL is just above NASCAR and golf.
-
It was a pretty good game up until UCLA poured it on with about a 10 minutes left. Glad to see a lot of students close to the action. I didn't know it was like that at Crisler. Anyway why does UCLA have a white C, but ULA are gold? Is that supposed to imply something? Like maybe the players are coked up or something.

Can't believe Zetterberg will be out too. Hope we're getting the truth in that his back spasms are nothing serious.

St. Paul is not Hockeytown. The Wild don't want that title. http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_7783689?nclick_check=1

Terry Frei wrote a great article I think you all should read. The pursuit of fans: How far is far enough for the NHL? Later he concludes While surfing during the game last night I found that article. Then I went to another site and found this article written by Larry Dobrow. I'm thinking he has a lot of reasons why attendance might be down in hockey. Then I get toward the end and he contradicts himself where hockey is concerned.

Go Colts!! Anybody but the Patriots or Cowboys, man I hate those teams. They're right up there with the Avalanche.

The knee-to-knee went unpenalized too right? I didn't see the game. Should a penalty have been called in the collision?
