Jeff on WXYT classified the goals as "unstoppable."

THis is weird. I'm not use to the Wings trailing.

I've been trying to get into this thread for more than 40 minutes, and have been denied until now. My credo stands true, the Internet is a weird place.

That's why the commissioner needs some autonomy from the owners and players. Baseball's was like that. I don't see it happening in the NHL, but it would be an ideal situation.

Flyers trounce Crosby-led Penguins 8-2. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&am...&gameType=2 I think he received first star tonight as he had two assists. Seriously though, that he even got the third star is a joke. http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20072008/GS020441.HTM

I thought the NHL did, but I could be mistaken. Yes. Though I don't want the entire playoffs on one network or even with one company.

Well agree with eva unit zero, but maybe it's not that far back, and I can't speak to that as I became an NHL fan in '95. I don't know if I can back it up, but from what I've seen there's less clutching and grabbing post-lockout than pre-lockout and that's a very good thing.

I like Doc. Plus he's a Hoosier. So he has those two things going for him.

I'm not hating on Crosby. I just question the person who selected the three stars. The headline I wrote was to make fun of the media and all the Crosby articles they write. Looking at it again I should've wrote "Crosby-led Penquins fall to Flyers 8-2." The kid is under a tremendous amount of pressure and kudos to him for handling it so well.

Because Versus treats the NHL with respect something ESPN doesn't do, and I doubt seriously would if it even goes back. Does ESPN want all of the NHL playoffs or just some? I agree Versus needs to show more than just two nights of hockey per week for marketing the NHL effectively. Versus and the NHL are really missing the boat on this in my opinion. Since Versus only showcases hockey two nights per week, I wouldn't mind seeing another night on ESPN. That would be great in my opinion.

That's a good point. That's also a problem the NHL and MLB - the commissioners are puppets of the owners. The commissioners should act in the best interest of the leagues and independently of the owners and players.

Just watched the ESPN highlight real. I'm torn part of me thinks it's funny, part of me doesn't. That's definitely Mayne though and somebody unknown to me. They reminded me of Beavis and Butt-head. If they want to relate to a 15-year-old cartoon fine, personally I prefer if they played it straight. I know being funny and edgy is part of ESPN's gimmick, but it's also off putting too. Many ESPN talking heads annoy me. Berman sounds as if he has tourette syndrome, Jackson's gig seems to be just to laugh at Berman, Scott's phrases are now passe, and there many more I can't recall right now.

I think it hurts. When this was brought up a month or two ago I said the same thing. I don't agree with that prejudice, but I know some people who feel that way.

I don't like the idea of selling more corporate seats that's for sure. Typically corporate fans are unenthusiastic fans who are more interested in wining and dining clients than attending a game. Selling corporate tickets also denies the Wings the ability to grow their fans. Meaning that young children can't attend because tickets are too expensive. I can't think of an example in hockey so I'll use college basketball. Where are the students fans at Cameron Indoor? Near the court. Kelvin Sampson at IU said the students need to be closer the court, so the move was made. Using this analogy alumni is to corporate as students are to rabid fans. In one move if the Wings lower prices in sections closer to the ice, the atmosphere increases, more people attend games, and they will increase their ability to grow fans.

Burke!? And people say it couldn't be worse. Things can always be worse and things can always be better. I use to be a proponent of Hull or Chelios. Now I think Dryden is the way to go.

Flippula's penalty shot goal was amazing. He probably would've used the same move had he not been tripped.

I hope they have a cushioned pad so Maltby can stand on it. All that standing can't be very good for the back. If anybody asks for his autograph, also ask when he's coming back, that'd be some good inside scoop for the board.

You're welcome. No problem at all. On a related note, tonight's win was the first this season on the tail end of a back-to-back.
-
Those last two minutes were crazy. I was getting pretty nervous.

Bruce MacLeod wrote about that tonight. http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2007/12/back-to-back.html It's a good blog. I suggest adding it to your reader.

Sounds as if Osgood is keeping the Wings' lead all by himself.
-
That's a good idea to me. I also wouldn't mind Versus and ESPN. Though at this point ESPN is a pipe dream. Another alternative is that Versus gets more subscribers. That would be beneficial too.

The novelty of attending games down there has worn off for me. I won't attend a game there again unless I receive a comp ticket. So the Predators can raise ticket prices. I don't care.

Also in Minneapolis - St. Paul's defense, many fans are stuck in the middle. Many hockey fans say the same thing about Atlanta losing the Flames.
