I agree with Chris McCosky who wrote this article about in-game microphones. To me they add nothing, or in the rare case, very little to the game. Viewers usually only hear boring or banal comments from players or coaches. What gets me is network executives were so down on hockey for not having them. It's something I never really critically thought about before I read it, but he makes a very good point.

I admit it's hard for casual fans to find game. I know from personal experience and posted about it a month or so ago. Still this is more complaining and negativity about NHL business. It's not the first time either I bet that Kevin Allen has written about the NHL moving to ESPN either. Focus on the game Kevin. He could bring this up in the off-season, but no he shines more negativity on the game, when he could be writing about how well the Wings are playing, the end of the Devil nine-game win streak, or any number of game related topics. Versus and the NHL have a deal to about 2011 IIRC. Also ESPN big wigs don't want the NHL. So really it's a non-starter to complain about NHL contracts with television networks.

That was about a four-page article in the magazine. While it doesn't have a nice article about hockey in every issue, like it should during the NHL season, I bet hockey gets more ink in SI than ESPN the Magazine. It's not a dig, just saying that I enjoyed so much space about hockey. Again good article, but I don't agree with the conclusion.

That's a tough question, but I'd choose Shanahan.

Cleary is one of those underrated type players that I just love. Well he still got the assist.
-
It's not that he doesn't warrant the attention, he does. It's that he's garnering all the attention, or it seems that way. That's the way I took this thread.
-
A poster has the Yzerman, Shanahan photo I was talking about earlier as an avatar. I have that in wallpaper size. Another one I remembered after viewing this thread again is the profile shot of the Russian 5. That's a cool photo too.

Zetterberg is a golden god!

That's true. I thought maybe they did that when he was on Wings. Maybe it was Brett Hull chatting with Avery though. In any case those two are definitely the exception to the rule. Both are mic-able in my opinion.

Just checked my Google Reader in like five days. Look who Russ McKeon has been writing about. It's over the top in my opinion. Yes it's Crosby's first trip out west, but this is overkill.
-
Well he is the captain, but I know what you're saying. Normally a person who has a good game leads the team that particular night.
-
Well here's hoping that a Central team, the Wings, and an Atlantic team, the Rangers, meet in the SCF. That'd be great, two O6 teams. On a side note it's interesting that the slow-starting Devils are now in first place.

Yeah Sidney Crosby is getting a lot hype. He's like that great song everybody loves to hear, but then after awhile people get tired of hearing it.
-
Yep, that's true. It's not the trendy place to be anymore either. It happens, and it goes in cycles. Anyway that's a great article, but I don't agree with the conclusion. I also love the Hockeytown song and slogan. The song is cheesy, but I like it anyway. It's a guilty pleasure I associate with a great organization.

I'm surprised it wasn't shown on nhl.com as a save.
-
Yep. The powers that be trying to bring parity to the League.

Sweet! Not natural but I'll take it! LOL

Dang that Hudler! I was hoping for a natural hat trick.

Michigan is my second favorite Big Ten team, and I'm glad Miles is staying at LSU. His team is playing for the MNC, but his team also choked two times this year.

Karen has a great voice. She does a great job with the national anthems.
-
Seems like it, but I don't care. I'd rather use a Mac and listen to Ken and Paul.
-
Somewhere on one of my external drives I have great shot of Yzerman and Shanahan standing next to each other. It was wallpaper I downloaded from somewhere, but it's cool.
-
Ken Kal and Paul Woods are great in my opinion. I don't feel like I'm missing anything listening to them.
-
That's true, and he was talking hockey. Still, I like Miller and all, but it did look forced. Like maybe he didn't do enough research.
-
There was a good article about Miller's show in a recent Sports Illustrated. The writer said Miller seemed forced, and he definitely seemed forced in his interview with Scotty.
