    Brady Vs Manning

It shouldn't be that way, but for many people it is about the rings. I voted Manning. 1 He plays in the Hoosier state. 2 He seems like a nicer, more affable person. So that's my bias.

    A New Twist

That's a very good point, but I never even considered the League maybe partly to blame for the Bertuzzi, Moore incident. Anyway I think harsher penalties are in order. This recent rash of two-game suspensions is far too lenient in my opinion. From what I've seen in Internet polls on ESPN, The Hockey News and others, I'm in the majority on this too.

Senators: five games without a win

Well the Sens should be be breathing a little easier now. They when in a scorefest down in Florida last night, 5-4.

    Dom in net vs. Minnesota

Personally I'd feel more comfortable if Osgood was in net. Still Babcock is pretty trustworthy. It's hard to argue against him when the Wings are playing so well.

    Dennis Miller Interviews Scotty

That's very true. I wish Miller would have focused on players Bowman coached.

A look back, before the repeat, Vladi, and others

I appreciate it. I'd never read that before. Also I didn't realize how well the Wings started out the 97-98 season. Or if I did, I forgot.

    Dennis Miller Interviews Scotty

Thanks for posting the link. Scotty's humor is underrated IMO too. Very good interview. I really enjoyed the stick story. That was hilarious.

Osgood in net for Phoenix; Hasek in net for Montreal

Well it looks like Babcock made the right choice.

Another cheap shot from a Flyer

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. http://www.tsn.ca/tsn_talent/columnists/bo...nzie/?id=224221 Surely the Flyers organization must be penalized now.

    12/4 GDT: Red Wings 4, Canadiens 1

Another beauty goal tonight. All but the third one was IMO. There have been times tonight when the teams have been five-on-five, but the Wings looked like they were on the PP.

    Self-fulfilling prophecy

Did anybody listen to Jim Rome's show yesterday? He had John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting fame on the show. Obviously he's a big hockey fan. Anyway he said all the complaining about marketing of the game and off ice problems is a self-fulfilling prophecy. I just caught the tail end of his segment on the Rome show so I didn't listen to his whole interview, but I think he might be right. It's weird I was just thinking this yesterday morning too, when I posted the why fix it thread. I don't hear or read about all the off field problems of baseball or American football, or the off-court problems of basketball. I guess that could be because I'm not on American football, baseball or basketball message boards. Even in the media there is a lot of off ice topics about hockey. Focus on the game. The NHL isn't perfect, but I think overall the game is fine. I'd still rather watch or attend a hockey game before any other sport.
  12. And the second best blueliner ever. http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/1152...f-all-time.html I tend to agree on both accounts.

    Self-fulfilling prophecy

Yeah see, I didn't know all that. Those sports leagues' fans seem to have moved on as well as the media that cover those leagues regarding those changes. There seems to me a lot of complaining by hockey fans about how bad the NHL is - not enough fighting, not enough scoring, attendance problems, Bettman, schedule, too many teams. I'm just as guilty, but I'm tired of it all. So I plan to minimize my posts about the bad things about the NHL. Oh and I like Rome because he chats about hockey and interviews hockey players from time to time. Certainly more than others with national radio shows.

    Recchi on waivers...

    Nope.

    Self-fulfilling prophecy

I thought I corrected myself about that. I mean the tinkering of the game, scheduling problems, equipment problems, etc. I don't hear about those kind of problems in other leagues. That could be because I'm not as big of a fan of those sports.

Wow... someone that's not a Flyer is suspended

I'm surprised a player received more than a two-game suspension.

    Self-fulfilling prophecy

I meant articles like this one just posted yesterday. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3139460 It's not just ESPN, it's just about everybody and anybody who covers hockey. There's a ton of stories about how to fix the game, make it better, what's wrong, new sweaters, etc. The NHL brings it on itself sometimes because it's constantly tinkering, when it could be left alone. The League also brings it on itself because League officials continue to talk about it.

    Crosby Saves Hockey!

The Onion's report on Armstrong's moon landing is classic. Some people haven't heard of Sweetest Day, some haven't heard of The Onion.

If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Excellent blog by CBC writer Scott Morrison. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/morrison/2007/11/post_3.html After reading this my fears were allayed in regards to bigger nets, "a last resort." Overall I agree with the article, but I still think goalie equipment needs to be reduced in size. After reading this I'd say an 84-game schedule is probably about two or three years away. One comment I should post to his blog - if aint' broke, why the new sweaters this year?

    Top Ten shootout scorers

Some surprises per David Amber at ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3135504 Six European-born players, three Canadian and one American. Is this indicative of the way players are trained at a young age or just a coincidence? 10. Ales Hemsky, Edmonton (10 goals, 27 attempts) .370 9. Brian Gionta, New Jersey Devils (11 goals, 24 attempts) .458 8. Brad Richards, Tampa Bay Lightning (11 goals, 21 attempts) .524 7. Sergei Zubov, Dallas Stars (12 goals, 25 attempts) .480 6. Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings (11 goals, 21 attempts) .524 5. Slava Kozlov, Atlanta Thrashers (13 goals, 20 attempts) .650 4. Jussi Jokinen, Dallas Stars (15 goals, 26 attempts) .577 3. Erik Christensen, Pittsburgh Penguins (10 goals, 17 attempts) .588 2. Paul Kariya, St. Louis Blues (12 goals, 19 attempts) .632 1. Petteri Nummelin, Minnesota Wild (8 goals, 9 attempts) .889 I added the scoring average, and I wonder why they're not listed by that. Obviously there must be some subjectivity to his list.

    Greatest Sports Movie

Rudy is a strong a pick with lots of good acting - Astin, Favreau, and Beatty. Another very good Indiana, sports related movie besides Rudy and Hoosiers is Breaking Away. I love that movie.

Which Wing has impressed you the most this season?

My vote is either for Zetterberg or Osgood. It'd be hard to deny either, and both have carried the team at times. Though a good argument could be made for Lidstrom too.

    rob blake

The Wings should not consider Rob Blake IMO. I wouldn't want him on my team.

    Favourite Non Red Wing?

    Brendan Shanahan or Sean Avery.

    Bettman on XM radio

What do you mean, "not too bad?" Sound quality, quality of the show, how Bettman is able to spin topics, or somthing completely different?
