Looks good to me. I like it. If the logo could just be the W and the whale tail. It'd look better to me.

You're welcome, and thank you. I know some people don't have iTunes, but I can't remember who they are. So IMO it was worth telling you just in case. Also some might not like the further delay, but it's no big deal to me.

WXYT is on iTunes, nice and clear. It's farther behind the NHL.com feed though.

Holy Cow!!! Stop the presses. I don't freaking believe that.

I'm disappointed with WXYT's coverage of the Wings. As the Wings' flagship station I expect more hockey talk from it. IDK about Philly or Minnesota, but when I went to Buffalo the talking heads were more interested in chatting about the Bills. I'd be willing to bet it's the same where ever you go in the states. Hockey is fourth. It sucks for us hockey fans, but that's the way it is. I'd like more coverage for sure. I get angry about it. The lack of coverage isn't gonna change my passion and love for the game though. It's definitely the best game I can name. I just need to learn and accept that most Americans don't care about hockey. I've converted a few people, opened people's eyes. It's just slow going for now. I don't know what it is about me but I prefer less popular stuff - whether it's hockey over all other sports, Macs over PCs, RC over Pepsi and Coke, or Libertarian over Democrats or Republicans. It's not like I actively look for something less popular to like. I've tried them all, and those are the things I think are best.

There's something wrong with that Flyers organization.

Why Are the Red Wings So Good Year After Year?
auxlepli replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
Hopp as props for Wings. She asks the same thing, why Wings are so good year after year. Says it's a "mix of luck and longevity." Pretty good article, but I still say it's the scouts. -
Never been to Newark, but Prudential has to be better than Continental. If the Rock has any businesses around it, the area around it is better too regardless of what people think about Newark. There is NOTHING around Continental except a big ass parking lot. It was the worst place I've ever seen an NHL game.

It's like deja vu all over again.

I can appreciate a low-scoring game as long at it's played well. Still goalie gear needs to shrink. I'd rather see that than bigger nets. Also Martin Biron looks huge compared to his size. He's 6'3" and 163. I'm shorter than him, have three pounds on him, and I'm skinny.

This is what gets me. The area around Ford Field is praised in an SI football article, but the area around JLA is derided most of the time. I realize there is a bit of difference between the two, but the article mentioned walking to Greektown Casino from Ford Field, that's a bit of a hike. Yet the People Mover goes from JLA right to the casino. Plus there's the beautiful riverfront at JLA. Shuttles to just about anywhere fans could want to go. It's troublesome sometimes, but it's also fun too. It's a great way to meet people.

It will be interesting to see if the new CBA will be able to save Nashville and other small market teams as Gary Bettman has professed.

Wow, Phil Esposito agrees with me.

Forsberg was a clutch player with great skills, but his attitude regarding his injuries, and this goes way back not just now, has been that of whiny little ***** IMO. Buccigross IIRC compared him to Larry Bird. When Bird had those back injuries, I don't remember him acting like Forsberg. Forsberg seems to me like a self-absorbed prima donna. He maybe not be as bad as athletes in other sports, but I'll look for my hockey heroes elsewhere.

Common sense sure would say no, but then again, when has the NHL acted like it has common sense?

I'm stoked! I'm glad the Wings had some down time to recover from the West coast swings. It was way too much down time as a fan though.

If you have a Mac, here's a widget to keep up with all the scores and standings without going to a site. http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/s...ckeywidget.html And when you mouse over a score it shows the latest update.
-
The RUWT toolbar is pretty handy. There's an ESPN widget too that can be changed to different sports, but it seems pretty jacked up tonight. It's showing scores from games other than tonight's. I do like the layout better of teh ESPN one; it's easier to read teh scores, but it lacks the standings information. Also the generic one is team customizable.

He makes some good points about new arenas and the NHL SCF series. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3090483 http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/stor...&id=3078589 I didn't know this about The Joe. And while I don't think the ASG should determine home ice advantage, maybe a 2-3-2 series would be better to garner more media attention.

Donald Brashear was born in Bedford, Indiana.

The thing that impresses me about Michigan is the voting turnout on ESPN hockey polls. Per Wikipedia, Michigan has more than double the population than Minnesota, but the turnout is usually greater than that. Maybe more Michigan hockey fans know about the site or more have Internet. IDK, but Michigan's turnout rivals even the most populous states. As it stands right now in the current poll only New York and international voters have voted more than Michigan voters - 92, 128, and 74 resepectively. Minnesota has 26.

I agree. Maybe even get rid of their masks. Helmets sure, but no masks.

Division foes no longer pushovers Good article on mlive.com that theses next few games might be just as hard as the west coast trips. I'm inclined to agree. Also DetNews reiterates that same point Stretch against Central looms for Wings

Cool. I'll try that one tonight.
