Good point. I didn't think of that. Hmmm I wonder if there's a difference now? There was something added in 2005-06. http://www.nhl.com/hockeyu/rulebook/rule30.html

Still, IMO, it doesn't look as good as if the C and A were on the left side. It's not as aesthetically pleasing.

Great! I can't wait to see the rule not enforced.

Why do we always have problems with the ducks?
auxlepli replied to WINGS TILL DEATH's topic in General
Seems to me the Wings have a problem with Ducks' goalies. Even in 98 I remember the ESPN announcers blowing sunshine, but I can't remember his name. At least that was one year the Wings dispatched the Ducks. -
The reason he was called up is ridiculous, but the kid has talent and it'd be shame to let him get away. Hopefully he'll prove himself worthy. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20..._from_gran.html

I was hoping the Wild would keep their single-digit GA tonight.
-
He's clearly not in the blue area either.

This is about a week old, but Ted Montgomery hits upon the same thing. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/colu...ontgomery_N.htm

In the early going it certainly seems the Central is much improved from top to bottom. Chicago is also playing surprisingly well so far. Babcock had a great post-game quote tonight. "People don't understand what a fine line it is between swimming and drowning in this league," Babcock said. So not only is the Central up, but so is the entire League, well except maybe Atlanta. I think it has a lot to do with the salary cap. It's another post-lockout change I really like. Sure we'll probably never see anymore dynasties, but every team has a legitimate shot now, and I think that increases fan interest across the nation. Because each team is competitive now, it places a great onus on scouts to do their job well. The Wings IMO have great scouts which is why they've stayed competitive post-lockout. The Thrashers don't and that's why, albeit last season, have remained a cellar dwelling team.

There are rumors that every team will do that next year. I read Gordie Howe never went to a curved blade because he hated change and technology. No, just kidding. I read he kept it straight because he hates gays. No, just kidding again. I read he kept it straight because he could shoot with both hands equally.

On the Coyotes second goal, Kal and Woods were saying that one should have disallowed too because a Coyote was in the blue area like Holmstrom was, I mean wasn't.
-
Probably has to do with the mods cracking down on the GDTs. I happen to like the stricter rules. It's a good a change.
-
Wow, no goal and a penalty. Mucho sucko. Ken Kal says it's a bad call. I'm inclined to believe him.

The new sweater design for some reason necessitated the move.

Are you two, BringHomeTheCup! or BlakChamber, a psychologist or a psychiatrist? I refuse to try discuss this anymore, becuase you two have made it personal.

I don't hate change. but the this year's jerseys aren't better and they don't do what they were supposedly were designed to do. They rip easy, and they hold water instead of repel it. The NHL and Reebok had three years, and yet the new jerseys are still awful. Wait a sec ... they do do one thing they were designed to do - make money. BTW, changes I have liked - the new, post-lockout rules. I also don't hate technology. What I do hate is crappy technology - the new jerseys, Microsoft products, etc. I also hate the NHL embracing this new crappy technology just to make money - like with the jerseys, or so rapidly - like with the skates. The skates might not be crappy, but they are relatively untested. Who knows what the negatives might be. That's right. The NHL is embracing all this new technology to make the game better, so if the League isn't using it, it's not available. Don't ask me. I'm not the one embracing new, crappy technology so rapidly. Ask Bettman and the NHL. They are.

Did McLaren receive a penalty for the hit? Was the hit penalty worthy?
-
The sweaters this year aren't better than last year's. All but one player has said so. If the technology is there to make the pads smaller, why aren't they allowed? The NHL doesn't, therefore it must not be there. Becuase if it was the NHL would've already jumped on it. It jumped on the "improved" the jerseys and soon players will use heated skates. The safety nets are there because of a knee-jerk reaction.

I was unable to watch or hear the game last night. Was McLaren's hit on Drake what provoked Downey to rough it up with McLaren? Also, did McLaren's hit on Drake warrant a penalty IYO? From what I can tell on the Game Summary page, it didn't. I can't imagine the refs missing a call like this when the refs are supposed to be cracking down on hits that could possibly fracture a player's cheek bone. Or was it just one of those freaky hits like Lemieux's on Draper?
-
But players are 12% faster b/c of them and ONE player really likes them.
-
Not only is Ozzie playing better than Dom, but he gets an assist too.
-
Well at least Kronwall made up for his first penalty.
-
Three penalites, glad to see the Wings learned to stay out of the box.
-
The JLA has some pretty unique organ tunes IMO.

Technology hasn't reduced the size of goalie equipment, it hasn't made the jerseys better, and it hasn't brought down the safety nets.
