This was posted a few days ago with a different link, but it's the same poll. It was done in conjunction with ESPN, so its results are dubious IMO.

Cool shots!

That NFL YouTube clip is down. Anyway you can't compare the NFL to the NHL. 1 - Different types of helmets 2 - Hockey is much faster and Force = mass times acceleration According to this article http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.ht...bfc&k=17532 most players are united against Downie so hopefully his grievance withe NHLPA won't get very far.

Part of the reason is the of 30 "cookie-cutter" club websites at "nhl.com." http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2007...hl-lawsuit.html Part of me understands why the NHL did that, another part hates it and wants each team to be different. Either way I'm glad the Rangers are taking a stand. Totally awesome IMO.

Somebody mentioned in another thread the division heavy schedule. That's a very good point too. Has anybody posted that they like it?
-
Downie lined him up, and AND left his feet. Downie looked like a freakin missle. I'll stand by my original post in this thread. Downie deserved way more than 20.

Even if ESPN loved hockey, it still doesn't cover it. So how would he know? I'm sure he still follows the NHL, but because ESPN doesn't cover hockey, include it on its highlight show in a significant matter, or even have a 30-minute show per week, he can do it casually and still get paid. His opinion IMO is as valid as anyone else's on this board. I'd say we watch, listen and read more about the Wings and hockey than he does. His experience brings something to the table, but it's not much. Maybe 15 years ago yes, but not anymore.

Those are very good points BlakChamber. I'm inclined to agree with you.
-
IDK, Predators fans are pretty pissy too IMO.

Rented Ferris Bueller's Day Off to listen to the audio commentary. So my suspicions were right in that John Hughes tells why Cameron wears a Howe jersey. Hughes was born in Lansing, Michigan, grew up in Detroit and was a Red Wings and Howe fan. I was surprised to learn that. I figured he was raised in Chicago. Oh wait he said he went to high school there. Mmm latched onto the Wings instead of the Hawks I guess. Can't blame him I don't suppose.

Canadians must be gaining. I voted earlier today and St. Louis was up by two percentage points, like two hundred actual votes.
-
You make good and valid points too norrisnick. Hmmm ... IDK; I just want the Wings to win the Cup.
-
I like Bucci's enthusiasm for hockey. Love it in fact. I was all set to rip John a new one, but after reading all his comments on the Wings, I kinda agree. There were some rumors about Avery coming back to the Wings. His edginess was one reason I was all for it.

A head shot is no laughing matter. The past is just that, the past. I really don't care about the number of games other players received .The NHL needs to ramp up its harshness IMO. Downie should have gotten 40 games.
-
That's what I was thinking. I also hate the typeface on the new jerseys. I'll never buy one of those!
-
iLOL, good point. ESPN is good for scores and general info, but that's about it.
-
Consider the source, and oh look where Bodenheimer is.

It's still too late. According the the same page Comcast "was contractually obligated to have NHL Network on its systems by summer 2007 at the latest, so it should have been available in the United States beginning with the 2007-08 NHL season. This deadline appears not to have been met, and so Comcast will likely owe a $15 million penalty to the NHL." That's originally sourced at this link, http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/search/article...t_id=1001016934 So back to my original question. Does this mean the NHL can break the Versus contract? Could the NHL be on ESPN soon? Seems to me it could.
-
This was supposed to be done in the summer of 2007, not the fall. Can the NHL get out of the Comcast contract now?
-
Yeah that's true. I remember the one where Bart gets his teacher to fall in love with Gordie Howe. That was awesome. Speaking of hockey references, there was one in the opening Star Wars crawl of Family Guy the other night too.

Some aren't such big fans of the new jerseys. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07266/81990...m?cmpid=HBEHTML "[The sweaters] don't soak anything in, which I guess is what they wanted," Recchi said. "But the problem is, it goes through all of your equipment. It goes into your gloves, goes into your skates."

I've had good luck at eBay.
-
LOL that was funny. I especially enjoyed that part. I always thought it was weird that Cameron was a Wings fan in Chicago. That was probably done to make Cameron more of a loner-type, doesn't-fit-in type character.

Atlanta is the most western team in the Eastern conference. Hell they're more western than Columbus and Detroit. If you move Atlanta though you'd screw Tampa and Florida. Not that I care aboot them. Just saying. Columbus: 39°59′00″N 82°59′00″W Detroit: 42°19′53.76″N 83°2′51″W Atlanta: 33°45′18″N 84°23′24″W 84 > 83 > 82 All sources from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit%2C_Michigan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus%2C_Ohio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta%2C_ga

Less than that I say. Look at the goalies under the new rules, hardly any difference at all.
