Link to Simon incident. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Simon#2..._and_suspension Look I don't want to get into this whole should fighting be allowed in hockey debate, and that's precisely why I don't think those billboards should mention it. It's something non-hockey fans always throw in our faces. Hell Rodney Dangerfield used the boxing one as punchline to watching a hockey game. And do you all think the assault and battery one should be used when, rightly or wrongly, Bertuzzi was charged with assault and battery? I think it reflects negatively back to the NHL. It's like an NFL team having a billboard saying our players don't kill dogs.

Are you sure you got your computer fixed? Can you see these?
-
Is there anybody who doesn't like them? I like most of them. I don't like the ones that perpetrate the fighting stereotype, especially when the NHL is trying to distance itself from Todd Bertuzzi, Marty McSorley, and Chris Simon like incidents.

The Wings one is just OK IMO. B/c throwing octopi season is not booing Matt Millen season - NHL playoff season is not American football season. That said I know many who boo Matt Millen 24/7. Well I don't know them personally, but it's what I've read.

Voted for the Thrashers today. I never really cared for the Flyers logo; it's stuck in the 70's, much like the rink and stick logo of Vancouver.
-
The design is OK. Better than some, worse than others. I'm not a big fan of black jerseys either.
-
By the looks of those graphics interns are working at Page 2 as well. Clever signs though. I like the Thrashers' one too, and I didn't get the Toronto one.

Upending a familiar cliche to "Come into the cold" was brilliant too. Kudos to the Stars organization for signing onto this. I wonder if Hullie had any influence or came up with any of those?
-
That would be funny. I like the new one better.

Not to be a vocabulary Nazi or anything, but by definition someone can't murder a dog. Unless of course you're using dog in the colloquial sense.
-
That's a good point. From here on out a team that relocates should change its mascot name. I don't think they should switch now though.
-
Those are very good IMO. The only thing I don't like is the piping across the top.
-
iLOL Most are very good. I don't really like the ones associated with fighting.

OK so it's poorly executed, and the wing sucks, but it's along the same lines as ...
-
I like the one they have now better than the other two represented in the sportsnet.ca poll. Johnny Canuck is just .... bad. The stick is lame. Also on those two I hate the Mickey Mouse ears.
-
It'd be cool without the wing.
-
Yeah I agree. IIRC the Blackhawks won best logo in a recent nation-wide poll.

I voted Nashville and Vancouver. Though I wouldn't elminate any team, just move them. It's too bad the Predators didn't move to Hamilton. I wouldn't relocate or eliminate any Canadian team. I voted Vancouver b/c of their ugly uniforms and team name. Anaheim or L.A. or both should be on the American list. It certainly seems to me like one of those teams could move.

I bet it was done by an intern.

That's interesting. Kinda makes sense to get rid of them with all the technology in place to review goals now. Anyway, a team wouldn't be able to market those seats to me. I don't like being on the ice. The view is too limited, yeah it can be cool, literally and figuratively, but IMO the best seats were just above the glass and in the corners opposite the benches. Now that those are obstructed by safety nets, the best seats are center ice above the glass opposite the benches.

Today I voted for the Coyotes over the Blues. I like both pretty well though. The good news is the Wings are advancing. Maybe the person doing it has the numbers reversed. Right now it says Red Wings 67% = 4,391; Kings 33% = 9,019; and total = 13,410

Six more words ... Chris Berman Stuart Scott Tony Kornheiser

Yes, FinalScore is infinitely better than SportsCenter.

Should Sergei Fedorov's number be retired in the future?
auxlepli replied to Chaldean's topic in General
Ahhh yes ... once again I have a problem with clarity, apologies. I meant players who don't already have their number retired. Lidstrom would be the next player I could see having his number retired, but at this point it's a wait and see type thing. I could also see Draper having his number retired. Frankly though I like they way the Leafs do it - honoring a number, but not retiring it. Look at all the crazy numbers current Canadien players must wear. -
I voted 11-15 years. Since 1995 to be exact. That's when I started watching NHL hockey.
