iLOL As funny as Hull. Maybe funnier.

Ahhh ... fond memories. Do the Wings go back-to-back again if Hasek nor Bowman retires?
-
Yeah I miss Avery being on the Wings.
-
IIRC Helene St. James picked the Sharks to win too.
-
Poor hockey coverage is why I want to move to Canada, preferably Windsor. If not there then Detroit, Buffalo, Sault Ste Marie, or just aboot anywhere in Minnesota or Michigan.
-
The detnews link is a good one b/c it also mentions Lebda is day-to-day. ******* Flames dude; I hate 'em. Anyway I wonder if Holmstrom would consider wearing a mask or a shield.

ESPN bashes hockey ... yawn ... what else is new? So why do so many LGW posters want the NHL on this station that short-shrifts it and bashes it. ESPN's attitude toward the NHL is why I am willing to see it on another station, ANY station.
-
I agree with Hank. Also I'm glad I was wrong.
-
It has a ways to go before it reaches the level of the Wings-Avs rivalry IMO.
-
The NHL disappoints me with its leniency.

Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6
auxlepli replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
Five games is nothing, especially for McLennan. Also if the Flames lose today, then it's only a game suspension. Since McLennan was subbing for Kiprusoff, maybe Kiprusoff should get fine too. I know it'll never happen, but that would be a real message. Langkow and Iginla should receive a fine IMO -
I loved Ray's quote. "The only message they sent is that they're a bunch of morons!" Oh and so much for my man love for Iginla. It's hard for me to like him anymore after allowing the goonery yesterday and what he said. Classless on both accounts IMO.
-
I'm glad Forsberg and Kariya are out. If the Wings advance the Sharks will be a tougher opponent than the Predators IMO. So I was kinda pulling for Nashville.

People just need to be more optimistic with the NHL on Versus. A classic example is many said Fox would never be a major network. Now look. Another example, CNN now has major competition from Fox News, MSNBC and others.

I've been wearing red this entire playoff run, except when I was work, where I couldn't. Anyway I was wearing my old time Draper t-shirt yesterday and wearing a red turtleneck today, even down here in SoIn. All fans in Detroit should wear red for sure and especially those going to the game.

I use to hate them, but now I love bandwagon fans. The more the merrier I say. I'm trying to learn to be more positive and optimistic. Anyway I always think of that R.E.M. song Bandwagon when ever I hear the word. Here are the lyrics. Come on aboard, I promise you you won't hurt the horse We treat him well, we feed him well There's lots of room for you on the bandwagon, The road may be rough, the weather may forget us But won't we all parade around and sing our songs, A magic kingdom, open-armed Greet us hello, bravo, name in lights Passing on the word to fellow passengers and players, passing in, Until you're tired looking at all the flags And all the banners waving This is some parade, yesiree Bob Could we have known? Yesiree Bob, could we have known? Look at all the flags and all the banners waving Open up our arms, a magic kingdom, open-armed and greet us all Come on aboard, I promise you you won't hurt the horse We treat him well, we feed him well There's lots of room for you on the bandwagon The road may be rough, the weather may forget us But won't we all parade around and sing our songs and wave our flags A magic kingdom, greet us all hello, greet us hello, greet us hello

Ehhh, at least they're fans and supporting hockey. They might find their true allegiance one day.

Well I'm gonna defend myself. I'm not fickle, but a realist. I was cautious after the Wings led 2-0, not riding high. In another thread a few days ago I posted that the Canucks were up 2-0 in the first series in 2002. So be wary. I was cautiously optimistic after the first two games, now, not so much.

ESPN Poll: Which team has the most intimidating fans?
auxlepli replied to White Out's topic in General
Calgary is really third. -
lol, that's a good one.

As for the refs sucking, I'll refer back to Ken and Paul since I didn't see the game. They said the refs were, and did, call hooking very tightly both ways. The only call they really had an objection with was the one on Lidstrom, that led to the 5 on 3, that led to the GWG. That said the Wings are a team that should overcome bad calls. A team that should overcome a one-goal deficit. That they didn't, that they dropped two games in Calgary, that I believe the Flames have a better chance at winning at the Joe than the Wings do at Saddledoom, that I have a bad feeling aboot this series now, these are the reasons why I predicted the Wings will drop this series. I'm a Wings fan. I desperately want them to win the Cup. Now, I just don't see it happening this year. Sorry.

ESPN pushing soccer, the most popular sport in the world, makes sense. So how is this support that Bettman is an idiot? ESPN was already too crowded for NHL hockey because of poker, auto-racing, basketball, etc. All the more reason IMO to find a network that would devote more time to the NHL. That said I think in the regular season Versus should show an NHL game every night of the week. What really surprises me is how ESPN is now pimping for arena football, an obvious minor league.
-
IIRC Lang had either the most giveaways for the Wings or the League during this last regular season. Seems like I read that on freep.com or detnews.com, hmmm can't seem to find that stat on nhl.com though. I wonder who keeps that stat?
-
Either, but hopefully a seven-game series.
