That's awesome! Cool statue too. Shouldn't he be looking at where he's firing the puck though?

For selfish reasons, if for no other and because I don't live in Canada, where hockey is king; I'd like to the sport to grow here in the states, where it's treated very poorly to say the least. I hate that what I consider inferior sports getting all the press. I hate searching for every shred, every tiny morsel of hockey news. I wish it was more popular, not so that there are conceeded players, but because it's the best game I can name! lol I do like that the League and its players are humble though. I'd hate to think hockey players acting any other way.

When I first thought that demand was slack it was kinda surprising, but when I thought aboot it some more it's really not. The Michigan economy is bad, Wings recent failures in the playoffs, and their continuous run of making it to the post-season all are factors.

QFT IMO sports go from hardest to easiest in this order: Hockey>Baseball>Basketball>Football As far which team has improved the most? I have no freaking idea. Obviously Carolina and Edmonton couldn't keep up with all the other teams' improvements.

The Thrashers are the oldest team in the League right now. I hate making predictions escpecially where my heart is concerned. I won't do it anymore.

The answer to number 16 is proof that Bettman lies. The quote below originally appeared at this link, http://www.edmontonsun.com/Sports/Hockey/2...841153-sun.html

SO's are way better IMO than OT's, the five-minute, four-on-four kind. I understand the POV that SO's kinda cheapens the game, but so does four-on-four hockey that isn't that way because of penaltys. It also kinda sucks that a SO determined a playoff spot. However SO's are part of the game now and if the Leafs wanted in the playoffs, they should have made damn sure they were in them instead relying on another team for help. The Leafs should have won a few more regular season games!

Personally I like the way the Leafs honor numbers as opposed to retiring a number. It's crazy the way Montreal is with all those weird, wacky, high numbers. The Habs will probably have to use three-digit numbers soon. lol Chicago does that with street names too. Instead of re-naming a street after a person, they place a sign under the proper name for the person being honored. More cities should do that IMO. Tangentally, only two types of banners should be raised - retired number banners and championship banners. I hate seeing division champ banners, conference champ banners and President Cup banners. Only one matters IMO and that's Cup winners! I agree with people who posted no in regards to retiring Shanny's and Fedorov's numbers.

Good game. Wings were up 3-0, and I was thinking mmmmm I hope the Blue Jackets don't come back, tie it up, and send it to overtime. lol

It's a shame he's not more dependable. It finally dawned on me tonight at dinner that he'll be out of the playoffs! Yikes!!!

MUCHO SUCKO!!!

I like this idea too as long as Milwaukee gets the team. I don't think Madison could support it. My only minor complaint is that Chicago and Detroit wouldn't be in the same division.

Shooting blanks The Red Wings are 2-7 in shootout games this season. No way I'd delete a Canadian team, but if I must, I'd choose Vancouver. American ... Florida. If I could order off the board ... Chicago and St. Louis, two worst drawing teams in the League. You know that really kinda surprises me too, and really hacks me off. They're two Midwestern teams, one is O6, the other O12. One has won a few Cups, the other recently held the record for most current consecutive playoff appearances of the major four sports. So yeah, I think they should be drawing much better than the last two of the whole freaking League! Also Nashville is like one of the best teams this year, but they're only filling 88 percent capacity. That's very disturbing to me. I would imagine it is to the League as well. I'm sure Bettman has a standard, pat answer to gloss over it though. Still Nashville is at 88 percent while Chicago is at 58. OUCH! Wirtz is a jack ass though. So I guess you could say Hawks fans are smart. Besides that UA Center is in a crap part of town too. There is absolutely NOTHING around it. No hotels, no bars. Many complain aboot JLA, but IMO UAC is much, much worse. Also look at New Jersey's numbers. In the last 12 years they've won three Cups, similar to the Wings three in 10, but the Devils are only drawing at 73 percent, 27th in the League! That arena though is absolutely the worst, of the 10 or so arenas where I've attended games. Nothing around it except exit ramps and parking lots. The atmosphere inside is bad too. Pretty nice facilities, but sightlines are bad, and the seats in the upper level I imagine is like watching from New York! They seem really far away. I felt so disconnected from the game. Figures from this link .... http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?s...t&year=2007

What was a good game is now a horrible game. Three goals in the third! WTF?! Two points now = one. Very disappointing.
-
If Satan played for the Devils, I mean.
-
Good game so far. I can't believe there's a Hagman who plays for Dallas. lol It's almost as good as Satan playing for the Devils.
-
I think that's awesome. To me it means hockey has a better chance to increase its popularity.
-
I agree with Scotty in everything he said aboot fighting and physical play.
-
Great win! Wings get two full points and Preds don't get any.
-
Can't spell Ville without vile. Vile = an adjective meaning "morally low; base; despicable" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vile So yeah, that aboot sums it up.
-
I don't understand the move, but whatever. I'm not paid to be the coach. Anyway what pisses me off is that the Preds have never faced the Wings on a second of a back-to-back game nights. Except that once when it was a home and home. Yet two other times the Wings did. Fri. Nov 24 Blues L 2-3 (OT) JLA Sat. Nov 25 Preds L 2-6 GEC Fri. Feb 23 Oilers L 3-4 (OT) JLA Sat. Feb 24 Preds L 3-4 (OT) GEC

I'd rather have the team I support win championships than have promotional give-aways. As far as being satisfied ... I'm not satisfied unless my team wins the Cup. That said, I'm satisfied with the Wings run in the last 10 years. No other team has won the Cup more in the same time frame. The Wings also have the longest current streak of making it to the post-season of any of the 122 teams.
-
I have yet to attend a game at an arena or stadium better than JLA, which my complaint is the restrooms. The atmosphere is great, and the Wings are champions. I can't believe they're third in Detroit when the Wings have three championships in the last 10 years.

Good article, but what really impressed me was the photo. Totally kicks ass IMO. I'd love to have it as a full-size poster. It looks even better in b&w.
