VS is owned by Comcast, which is headquarted in Philly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versus_%28TV_channel%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comcast

Pronger must have bad karma or something. He seems to have weird things like that happen to him. Remember the time when he was with the Blues in the playoffs against the Wings, he took a puck to the chest and then collapsed? Weird.

Gary Bettman on the radio down here last night
auxlepli replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I agree with him about VS. It pains me to say I agree with Bettman. -
Glad to hear he's doing better!

Good news. I've always liked Homer.
-
He doesn't like it, he doesn't love it, he didn't want to be traded. He tried so hard, but couldn't overcome it.
-
Plain and simple he really didn't want to be traded. He probably scoffed at the idea before the trade, b/c he didn't like even the idea of it. Anyway he agreed to be traded Besides speaking strictly about the cities, I'd hate to go from Philly to Nashville too.

Yes. That should've been a penalty. Cheli looked like he was head hunting. The first Exelby hit looked legit to me. The other two definitely interference.

Comparing Bettman to Count von Count is a slap in the face to the Count. Just sayin. I have more respect for the Muppet than current commissioner.

Again this trade really doesn't impress me much. I doubt Forsberg's reliablitly in regards to health. Here's something interesting from NHL.com Ready, aim, fire -- The Red Wings are on track for an interesting daily double. The Wings enter the weekend leading the NHL with 33.3 shots on goal per game, ahead of runner-up Florida (32.7). They also lead the NHL in fewest shots on goal allowed at 23.9  1.5 shots per game fewer than runner-up Dallas. Although the Nashville Predators are battling the Wings for the Central Division lead, they're making their goalies work a lot harder than Dominik Hasek & Co. While the Wings outshoot their opponents by more than nine per game, the biggest margin of any team this century, the Predators are being outshot by an average of more than four per game (27.6 to 31.7). But the Preds do a lot more with their chances than the Wings: They're scoring on 12.3 percent of their shots, while Detroit is putting just 9.2 percent of its shots on goal. Nashville is especially good at winning blowout shutouts: The Preds have five shutout victories by five or more goals; no other team has more than two. All five have come at home. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=289127

Agreed. Even the Indy minor league team doesn't play but a handful of games there.
-
Eh, the trade ... don't impress me much! lol
-
Not impressed. I wouldn't have been impressed if the Wings acquired him either. Forsberg's health, IMO, is still shaky especially to last the rest of the season and the playoffs. And just b/c he's going to Nashville does not = a division win, conference win, or a Cup win for the Preds.

I'd like to see a team in Seattle, as long as it's not owned by a Microsoft crony. I think a team would flourish there as opposed to KC, but what do I know.

That's a damn shame. I was at the Yzerman retirement ceremony at the RenCen. Bettman was there. I said to a couple next to me, Bettman's here I wish I had a gun. lol They looked at me kinda funny. I was like I'm just joking. Deep down, though, not so much. lol

Wow imagine somebody from ESPN giving props to the NHL. He makes some really good points, up until advocating larger nets.
-
Watching the presentation now. It still doesn't compare, and nothing does, to the Stanley Cup presentation!
-
Exaclty! They need to show games like every night!!

On Jim Rome's radio show Friday he interviewed somebody from ESPN. Rome asked what can be done for the NHL. The guy, sorry I can't remember his name, said, "the NHL needs to come home to ESPN." I still disagree. ESPN treated the NHL like crap IMO. Versus needs to show more games. Saturate the market. I can't remember when the NHL went to ESPN, but it wasn't alway on ESPN. It was on USA at one time IIRC. Also I remember that my buddy had to order the 91 or 92 Stanley Cup finals. So the NHL wouldn't necessarily be "coming home."

IU beat the number two team in the nation Wednesday. That was cool. Seriously it was a really good game. I'm surprised the students stormed the court. I mean it's not like IU hasn't won a championship or two.

Bad news for those who want to see NHL on ESPN. Versus Nets NHL Right Extension Until 2011!

Great excerpt. I think I'll buy the book. Too bad it probably comes from a Colorado perspective. Anyway the clip that made me really mad was the Konstaintinov hit on Clod. I'm thinking if he's still playing the WIngs win more Cups.

I always went over to my friends house to watch the playoffs. It was like a ritual for us. I'd bring over the Guiness, he provided the place and TV. Good times. He liked to make good natured fun of all the Russians on the Wings. So then it wasn't Yzerman or Shanahan anymore, but Yzermanov and Shanahanov. lol

I respectfully disagree with you. I think it will work. I don't have anything to base it on; it's just my gut feeling. Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, which is extremely odd, b/c I'm usually a pessimistic, cynical f*** especially on message boards. lol We'll see. I am hoping for the best though.
