Hopefully the guys are drinking some of John Wharton's old elixer to give them an advantage.

Your comments sound just like the ones we've all been making during the playoffs for the past 5 years. As many have said, these last two games have had an eery familiarity to them.
-
Wasn't it the Anaheim series a few years back, that the Wings won the first two, and then dropped four straight? This sh%& is looking O so familiar - outshooting the other team by a ton - the opposing goalie (for the nth year in a row) standing on his head - everybody shaking their heads at how the Wings mysteriously and suddenly suck. Now do you understand why the Joe wasn't sold out for game 1?
-
Correct you are. I just get tired of seeing the opponents roof those wristers past us.
-
With the Wings on the PP, why does Lidstrom pass the puck to Lang? Whenever that happens I groan, knowing that at least 20 seconds has just been wasted. And why is it that we can never score a shoot-out goal with just a simple wrist shot, yet our goalies are regularly beaten cleanly by those - two tonight? As others have mentioned, this looks just like Wings playoff hockey the past few years.

Grrr, I hate spending time watching my team lose, especially when it's bright and sunny outside. They suck, the fans suck, all of you suck, except for me. In fact, I challenge any of you to a cage match - beware of the iron claw!!! There, I feel better already. I don't know if we'll finish first in the division or not. I just hope that we don't burn ourselves out trying for it, like we did last year.
-
Goal by Langer! Now I remember why I've been holding off on a lot of my "Wings suck" posts of previous years. They seem to have a better comebackability than in previous years. Oopps, spoke too soon - it's 6-3 now. Vary, very frustrating!!!!
-
I, too, have always thought Jason to be a rather decent guy, I must say. Best of luck to him in Chicago - just as long as he doesn't beat us in a shootout tomorrow night.
-
Bad game - I hate it when the other team starts roughing it up because A.) They know, at least tonight, that we won't do much on the PP anyway, and B.) because they know we have nobody to answer. At times like these, I long for the days of long ago, when a 6-1 loss would at least be softened a bit by seeing somebody on the opposing team get their a$$ kicked.

True, I've been more nervous about the stupid streak than winning or losing. I'm really surprised that they've gone on this long, given their propensity to not play a full 60 minutes. But this streak ending has as much to do with the schedule makers as anything. Someone mentioned Joey never winning an NHL game. Well as long as he's only used as a sacrificial lamb - only playing the second game of back-to-backs, his chances of winning are slim indeed.

Sorry, but I can't shut up about this. Why didn't yesterdays loss make us mad. When I think about how we used to hand out hard checks just a few years ago, it is really sad. How can these guys feel like real men, when they play such wuss hockey. It's like a guy coming up and insulting you, and your mother says. "now dear, just ignore them!" If the damn refs are going to call penalties left and right, then why not really cork somebody to make the penalty worth while. No, I hate this talk about cranking it up a notch (the Lions love to say this). With what these guys get paid, there should not be any higher notch to go to. Why doesn't Illich put out a press release each game day saying, "Fans, you might want to know that tonight we'll only be playing this game two notches below the top, so if you want a refund, come to the box office.

Like I said earlier, these certain predator fans come in here only when they win... didn't catch them in here anyother time before yesterday. And to be honest, I think we have a "fat" (interesting word choice )chance of beating the preds, cuz hey look we played sucky these two games and still were competitive. Look out when we actually bring our A game. This is what grinds me the most about this team. These guys are making more in one year than we will make in our lifetimes. Aren't you expected to bring your "A-game" to work everyday? And if you don't, you probably hear about it. Sorry' but I expect these guys to bring their A-game every night. Someone mentioned that Nashville was aggressive in their play. Why, pray tell, are we not aggressive? We may get more shots, but we are getting outplayed, with more time spent in our defensive zone than in theirs. Couple that with goalies who can't come up big when needed, and we have a formula for a first round exit.

Come up here and make me, Dork! Sorry, but that's three breakaways in two games, and Manny's batting .000! How do you think we would fare with three straight breakins on Vocoun? I know where my money would be. And if the Wings are so great, why are we not getting all of these breakaways? It wouldn't matter though, because if we did get a break-in, there's a 90% chance it would be Draper, who would softly shoot it into the goalies gut, or perhaps Lang, who would lose the puck trying to make a move. Face, it these guys are overpaid pretenders. Someone earlier mentioned how boring it would be to see these teams going 7 games in the playoffs. Don't worry, Vo-coon would beat them in four, turning away 158 of 160 shots. What a s***ty end to an already s***ty day.

QUOTE (Sgt. Angry @ January 24, 2006 - 11:16PM) Sometimes you've got to step up and get the job done - that's what those millions of dollars going into your pockets are for - to WIN GAMES!!! thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif Tell that to the 16 skaters who didn't put the puck in the net for Detroit over the 2 games. Why should they be excused from blame? No, I'm not leaving them out, especially Shanny, who seems to have the talent to miss a wide open net from three feet out.
-
I would most definitely pin this one on Manny. How many goals would we have scored if we had all those breakaways. Vocoun has made many saves these past two nights, that, if they had gotten past him, people would have said "He had no chance - you can't blame him for that one." But, guess what, he made the saves. Sometimes you've got to step up and get the job done - that's what those millions of dollars going into your pockets are for - to WIN GAMES!!!

This f**king a**hole team. If I was Illich, everybody would be fines $20000 for this s***ty display. OK, now let's hear from all the "happy, shiny" true Red Wing fans telling us how we shouldn't be upset about this inexcusable display
-
OK, if this thing goes to a shootout, what would happen if we creamed somebody with one second left?
-
I just noted what would be a good strategy. Fire a slap shot from the slot right at the goalies head. Might pay off later in the game.
-
Unfortunately, I can see this game being lost by a single bonehead play.
-
How in the hell can they apply endless pressure in our zone with a 5 on 5, and we can't even keep the puck in for 5 seconds on the PP.
-
Penalty on Schneider - I guess only our opponents can cross-check in front of the goal. We really need someone to kick some ass to get this team fired up. We have had zero sustained pressure this game (5 on 3's don't count)
-
Great - another f*&%d up 2 on 1. Who the hell are these clowns disguised as Red Wings?
-
I sure wish that we had someone who could go out and cream Sullivan into the boards. And Manny, can't you at least make it hard for these guys. We can't get breakaways, and we never can make the stop on breakaways.

OK, let me try my hand at some thoughtful hockey commentary, which is not as much fun as ranting and venting. 1. Ozzy vs. Manny: I consider them to be fairly even. One doesn't make me any more or less comfortable than the other. Ozzy HAS stolen a game or two for us this year. And it's just my gut feeling that the team seems to play a wee bit better for Manny. The only thing I can say with confidence is that whichever goalie loses a game - sucks. 2. The PP: We may be the best in the league at present, but our PP seems to go down the tubes whenever the opponents start putting pressure on the puck carrier. If they stay in their box, we do great, but any pressure at all brings hurried passes and easy clears. Also, for whatever reason, and Datsyuk is the worse culprit, we seem to always have guys in great position giving up shots and passing to shooters who are in terrible position. 3. The PK: We DON'T put pressure on the point men, and so it seems we spend the entire two minutes not being able to clear the puck. Every missed shot bounces right back out to the point man, to start the process all over again. 4. You can always tell when the Wings are playing like crap, because the opponent seems to always be on a 5 on 5 PP, with the WIngs scambling around like Keystone Cops, and when they bring it down the ice, every WIng seems to be double-teamed, indicating a lack of movement without the puck. -
