Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
Sgt. Angry replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Slowly through the years, I'm getting a grasp on the NHL's priorities. A repeat offender (Weber) plays Dick the Bruiser on Z, and gets less than a slap on the wrist. A stellar player in NHL history (Lidstrom) gets suspended for how many games? for missing the all-star weekend when he was sick several years ago. Who can figure?!?!?!? -
Unless the Wings D-men are purposefully concealing their emotions, it doesn't SOUND like they are ticked off at all about the Weber hit. When Keating asked Kronwall and Stuart about the dirty hit, they answered in a wimpy, hushed tone of voice, similar to the tone you would use when reading a bed-time story to your kid. I doubt any of them have the balls to do anything about it.
-
Before benching him, have Emmerton charge and cross-check Weber's head into the boards. When he gets suspended, it will be of little consequence.
-
And don't forget Malkin in 2009!
-
If we're gonna play that game, let's go further back and get BKP, and we'd be winning by 4!
-
I was wondering the same thing.
-
Don't worry Stuart, that goal was just unlucky. You've got a long way to go to match Paul Coffey!

I remember years ago, the Wings were just coming out of the Dead Wings era, and seemed just on the verge of making a playoff run. And then, all of a sudden, they traded away Ray Sheppard and Paul Isebaert (sp?), and Steve Chaisson, three of the better players on the team. What in the heck are they doing, says I to myself! Well, within a few years, the cup was ours (muuhahahaha). I'm beginning to think that maybe we should start dangling some of our top-line players for trade bait, and see if we can improve the chemistry of the whole team!?!?!?
-
Anybody at the Joe who doesn't get up and leave right now is stupid!
-
Do we EVER win a faceoff in these situations?????
-
I don't see all the games, so that's why I said I can't "remember" them winning in a long time. Why do you have to be such a flaming dickhead with all of your replies? Not just to me, but to just about everyone on this board. This place would be a better place without your presence. I would be very interested how many people you've driven off this board. But I'm guessing that would be something you're proud of.

Someone mentioned the 11-0 Patrick Roy farewell game. Have we beaten Montreal since then? I sure can't remember it - seems like we're on a long losing streak against them.
-
Dang it, these guys are already starting to just dump it out of their zone. Don't start this damned prevent crap!
-
This is exactly the type of game where I wish we had someone who could just go out there and beat the s*** out of someone, since there's no way we're winning this game anyway.
-
This game is over. This is the exact same team that has folded when the going gets tough for how many years now?
-
Well, this looks like an excellent opportunity to get a good nights sleep. This one definitely aint worth watching.
-
OK, so the Wings "great play" somehow allowed 4 unanswered goals. But even worse, it appears that the Detroit News has "improved" their website to the extent that they've screwed up the Red Wings forum. Anybody know what those dickheads (the News) have been up to??
-
Yeah, it was a bad bounce, but they still let up the last five minutes - being content to just flip the puck out of their zone, instead of skate it out, trying to create some offense. Those of us who have watched this kind of crap for years had that feeling in our stomachs half-way through the 3rd period. Yes, they played hard - for about 50 minutes.
-
If the Pens get a quick goal to make 5-0, do you think they might switch to the Habs vs. Bruins - the game I really wanted to watch???? And, sorry, but I really don't care about "for the good of hockey," I'd like to see him get knocked out of commission again really quick.
-
Here we go with the obligatory late period penalty, leading to the obligatory last minute goal.
-
The Wings must lead the league in the category of "players who are set up perfectly, firing the puck high or wide of the goal!!!"
-
Larry Murphy just said that Loui Erickson (sp?) was "the most highly under-rated player in the NHL." Something doesn't sound right about that statement!
-
I don't know if the rest of the league has the Wings figured out and they're too stupid to change, or whether the players are just not working hard enough, but it sure seemed like every Wings player was being double-teamed tonight. Even on the power play, they had absolutely no room to move the puck around. Really sick to watch. As far as the crowd at the Joe booing them off the ice. I'm sure that the 10 or 20 people still there at the end were doing that. Just kind of hard to hear that small a number.

I'm beginning to look at this Wings team as being akin to the 1975 Tigers. The Tigers that year were loaded with all-stars. They had Bill Freehan, Willie Horton, Mickey Lolich, and John Hiller. Add to that core such luminaries as Nate Colbert, Jerry Manuel, Chuck Scrivener, and Bob Molinaro. The Tigers finished something like 57-102 that year, and for several years the Tigers trotted out a whole bunch of players like the later four I just mentioned, and things didn't get better for a long time. Similarly, the Wings have Pavel, Nick, and sometimes Z. But I think the rest of the squad is just not that good. Not as bad as those Tigers I mentioned, but still nothing special. They were interviewing one of the "young Wings" after the game, and I had no idea who it was - they're all beginning to look alike and sound alike. Do you think Darren McCarty would be quiet in the locker room after this? I doubt it. But we just seem to have a bunch of small, humble, expressionless skill players who don't seem to have enough skill. They just go out there, go through the motions, and get pushed around. Can you imagine Gerard Gallant playing like this? They are good enough to make the playoffs, but that's about it.

I know you get fined, but he's rich enough. I didn't know about the possible suspension. At this stage, we could consider that an added bonus! Ohhhh, Captain Nick is kind of giving to the refs right now!!!!
