As much as I'm pissed now, I'll be even more pissed in a few minutes, when Babcock, once again, refuses to call out the refs. I'm sure he makes enough money to, just once, let these clowns have real good (bad?). It might even be good therapy for the team.

Games like this make me wish there was a sniper up in the rafters somewhere!

I'm really beginning to think that the Red Wings have only Datsyuk and Lidstrom as bonified elite players. Zetterberg would be one if he showed up every night. And all the rest are just average NHL players. I'm also beginning to think that a .500 record is about appropriate for this group, especially considering the lack of effort they bring to large portions of games.

I honestly was not excited about the beginning of the NHL season. I expected more of the "same ol" from a team that hasn't changed that much, and that's pretty much what's happening. After having to endure the Tigers choking at crunch time, watching Austin Jackson routinely strike out on three pitches, etc., I'm certainly not ready for this kind of hockey.

WCSF Game 3 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)
Sgt. Angry replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Been watching the Tigers this whole series, because I didn't want to watch the s*** that I was afraid would happen. I finally turned it on in OT, and within a minute, the game was over. So you can blame me, but at least I'm getting you guys to bed at a decent hour tonight. All the Wings have to do is find another Fedorov, Konstantinov, LaPointe, Maltby, and McCarty, and start all over again. Add to that a few big guys who would insure that in future years we would be the injurers instead of the injurees. -
WCSF Game 3 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Isn't it about time for the refs to throw one of their patented Homer-interference-no goals into the mix? -
I agree, except I believe they will lose game 3, and possibly win game 4, but that will be about it. I've been hoping these last few years that Draper, Holmstrom, and Lidstrom would be able to be the first to play on 5 Red Wing Stanley Cup winning teams. But it's just not going to happen. Too many teams have too many better players - better skills, greater desire, more meanness - (how many opponents have had players go on the DL after playing the Wings? Yet Detroit always seems to have players getting slammed around, and we're always playing the old "We'll be fine as soon as _________ returns from the DL game." I'm trying not to be too upset by this, because I just don't think this group has it in them any more.

Let me preface this by stating that I've been grumpy all day, and that if any of you get on my case, I probably deserve it because there are still 2 periods to play. But this game has the stench of another shutout loss in the making. Think I'll watch some exhibition baseball instead, to calm my nerves.

I think Nick would agree with you. He looked surprised, and had to quickly make way for Dats when they announced the 2nd star. But Dats did make some surprisingly bad passes tonight.
-
Correct. This reminds me of the Lions years ago, when they would run off right tackle on every 1st down. The opponents all knew they would, the fans all knew they would, but the team just scratched their heads and wondered why it wasn't working. Now I'm not hockey coach material, so correct me if you think I'm wrong, but it just looks like the Wings opponents all know exactly what to do to shut things down completely.

Well, I guess it's time to pull out my old 2002 Game 7 shutout against Colorado, so I can remember what real Red Wing hockey is like. While I'm at it, maybe I can find Grimmson's one-punch KO of Jeff Odgers.
-
I'm sorry, but sometimes I think certain guys are deserving of getting sucker-punched or being the victim of out-and-out leave your feet boarding/charging. One of those would be Ott.
-
I get a kick out of the commercial where Babcock says, "We take all games seriously" when it comes right after a period like we just saw.
-
This is a strange phenomena (or is it phenomenom?) The Stars seem to have twice as much space with the puck as the Wings do. Do ya suppose it has something to do with how hard the teams are working???
-
God, what a royal cluster%^&*. Ends with an icing call. Glad I missed most of this one.
-
Wings seem to be spending a lot of time looking like they're on the PK, even though it's even strength.
-
Damn this game is starting to get screwed up in BIG hurry. Wings better get their heads out their bums.
-
I haven't been paying real close attention to the games lately, so will someone please answer a question for me. Does Kindl ever complete a pass to one of his own teammates?
-
OK, TV guys. When you interview Babcock, would you please ask him "Coach, we've talked a lot about the need for the Wings to make quicker starts. What does it say about this team that they know full well what they need to do, but can't do it?" But no, they'll ask him a few powderpuff questions and let him go. I watch the Red Wings opponents these days - speed & forechecking, and think, that was Draper, Maltby, LaPointe, Kocur, and Mac years ago. We haven't got anybody like that anymore. Then again, maybe we do, but they have to spend their ice time trying to score goals, because the top lines are regularly out to lunch for entire games.
-
OK, they've (the VS guys) have spent the entire post game thus far analyzing the Rangers' woes. If they had won the game, do you think they would be analyzing the Red Wings woes? No, I don't think so either.
-
After games like this I have to remind myself that at the beginning of the season, I picked the Wings to barely make the playoffs, and take an early exit due to the fact that we essentially had the same lazy group we had last year. A good start made me forget that, but now the same crap that they displayed last year is back in full force. At this point, they really do suck!
-
How the hell can every Wing be double-teamed on the PP. Simple arithmetic should tell us that someone should be open. Now we get a SHG against us. Watching this team is a waste of our time at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing the Wings goon it up against O'Brien right now. These guys are playing with absolutely no emotion - just like their coaches!
-
This could all have been avoided if, during his pre-game interview, a couple of Wings could have sneaked up on Dushane (Duchene?) and hit him on the knee with a tire iron (ala Nancy Kerrigan). The Wings could have worn masks to avoid detection. It used to work for me back in my pro wrasslin' days.

I think I've seen enough for tonight. Was worried about a 3rd game in 4 days. And Mr. Mike Illich, please don't ever, and I mean EVER, hire a ****** PA announcer like the Aves have.
