Why does every late period icing have to turn into a fricken Chinese fire drill????
-
I, too, consider Ken & Mick to be untouchable - the best, although I did really like Dave Strader when he was here. Trevor and Murph are good. Mickey York is tolerable - it's just that the dirty old man in me still wishes Angie Mentink was still around. Ryan Field is a joke! I'll bet that in high school, he was the little twirp who always got de-pantsed in the locker room, and snapped with wet towels. I have never, ever liked Keating, and I agree that the Wings players feel that he is a joke. But guys like Keating never have a clue about things like that. His interviews are lazy and just plain stupid. Just watch the next time the Wings win the Cup: the first guy to be interviewed by Keating will be asked something really intelligent like "How big a win was this?" In fact 99% of his questions begin with the word "how."

Getting tired of watching the Wings play with their heads up their asses for the past month.
-
Really felt that the Wings didn't get beat - they just handed it to them. I suppose they'll use the time-honored "first game home after a road trip" excuse tonight. They started the game great, got an early goal, and then just turned off the jets for most of the game.

No matter how bad the game may be going, I don't think I'll ever stop chuckling at Ovechkin (sp?) doing his Dr. Evil impersonation on that CCM commercial. "Soon the championship will be ours - all ours - muhahahaha! An instant classic right up there with R. Lee Ermey as the psychiatrist.
-
Pisses me off to hear Mickey talk about the Wings being "lulled to sleep." That shouldn't be happening to well rested, highly trained professionals! All right - Wings goal.
-
Good God, everything just looks so familiar. Wings looking like old guys, who would rather be home playing with their kids: We have no goalie who can outplay the opposing goalie, or steal a game: We get players injured, but the opponents never seem to suffer injuries against us! I gather that Dats injury wasn't really anybody's "fault," but it doesn't prevent me from wanting one of our guys to coldcock one of their players.

Leave the car to come into the house, saying to myself, "If St. Louis scores on this PP, they're gonna tie the game." Get in the house and it's 4-2. God, I hope I'm wrong, but it's just one of these periods I don't have a good feeling about.

Didn't see the whole game - just bits and pieces in between frames of bowling. I'm thinking that the Wings were probably about as excited as I would be if my employer sent me on a road trip right in the middle of my family holiday time. As a doom and gloomer, I don't take very many losses in stride - this is one that I do.

Had a briefly delayed celebration, there, as I was waiting for the goal to be waved off for some phantom goalie interference by Holmstrom. Now we face the dreaded "first game back after a road trip" game at the Joe. Aw hell, screw it, I think I'll just be happy for a while.

Just out of curiosity, who besides Lidstrom and Draper can still win 5 cups with the Wings? I don't think anyone has ever done that (all as a player), so it would be nice if one of them could pull it off before they retire.

I would also state that I don't consider criticizing, ranting, or venting to equal panic. The Wings will make the playoffs (heck, with the number of teams that get in, you'd have to try hard to not make it in). For me, it's just the aggravating thought that I've just wasted an evening watching guys suck. I don't think they suck, period. But they sucked for the particular game on which I'm posting. I'm not a fan of hockey - just Red Wing hockey. I don't get any satisfaction watching the other team display great skills. To be truthful, when they play like they did last night, I usually watch something else, and just check the score occasionally. I suppose that makes me not a real fan to some. If so, then I've been a not real fan since 1961. And for some reason, I'll be right there when the next game comes up. So, please, just let some of us rant in peace, and try not to read too much into what we do.

I've never resorted to this kind of thing, and I won't do it again once I get suspended, but here goes. Crymson, you have got to be the most irritating ****** bag any of us have ever had to endure on this board. You can't seem to be able to abide by any venting or hyperbolized rants. What is it about the phrase "chill out" that you don't understand - you've only had that suggested to you by about 100 people. I pity the people who have to work with you. Were you regularly de-pantsed and snapped with wet towels in the locker room when you were in school?

I think you are closer to the truth than we care to admit!!!
-
Yeah, everytime I see that name, I think of Mr. VanDreisen, Beavis and Buttheads hippy teacher, sitting at the campfire singing his song about the lesbian seagull. Anything to keep my mind off of the piece of crap game I just watched.
-
OK, if the score was reversed, this would be about the time the Wings would have a 5-on-3 PK to kill. Don't suppose that will happen to Dallas, though.
-
I can't understand why some folks figured the essentially same Wings team, with just a few changes would produce anything different from the same crap that we saw so much of last year. We also seem to be repeating the same role of being the injured instead of being those that do the injuring.
-
Now I know why I didn't get excited about all this "Wings are the team to beat" BS that I've been hearing. This team looks just like last years version. Lazy play against a team that should be ******* gassed after last nights game. They'll finish middle of the pack simply due to the familiar lack of killer instinct.
-
Regardless of how this game turns out, this is a game that should be remembered later in the season whenever somebody wheels out the old "Well, we played last night, and we just didn't have any jump tonight" excuse. Watching the Aves effort tonight will make me reject any whiney "well we played last night" excuses the Wings make later on. We should be running these guys into the ice.
-
I thought their penalty last night resulted in a 4-on-4. I may be wrong - no biggie.
-
Awesome Wings PK is now 0% for the season!
-
Watching Chicago decimate Vancouver last night made me wonder if even half of Chicago's goals would have been waived off if Holmstrom had been making the moves that big Dustin was making around, and too often, inside the crease???
-
Man, I sure wish I could tap into some of your collective optimism. Remember back in 1997? The Wings are playing the Flyers in game 4 of the finals. It's the third period, Wings up 2-0, when Lindros scores with 17 seconds left. I immediately get the fear that somehow Philly will tie it in the last seconds, and that the Wings will never have the lead again. Kind of like a few years later when Detroit blew a three goal third period lead, and then dropped the next three. When you've seen it happen, you can't ever be comfortable!
-
I don't have much of an issue with him. My issue is that, as you correctly stated, he does exactly what Holmstrom does, but he gets away with it, while Holmstrom would never be awarded a goal like Dustin's third goal last night. He seems to combine the tactics of Holmstrom along with the psyche of a young Maltby. I didn't, however, care for his grandstanding after his second goal.

Those of you going to the game should leave early and stop and pay repects to Ernie at Comerica - maybe the good karma would affect the game.
