There is not much of interest to be had at deadline. Might as well do nothing. -
I have noticed that Samuelsson didnt play the last few games. Is he injured?

I don't know. Had the offense burried more of those chances, then a late goal like that wouldn't have mattered. Detroit cannot finish the game when they have the chance and that comes back to bite them in the third every time. Howard made one huge mistake in this game but made a few good ones to keep the score low.

I'm with you. Quincey is not so bad. For every mistake he makes he usually makes a really good defensive play too. He does take a lot of penalties and his offense has been a disappointment though.

Maybe, but I still consider offense to be the achilles heel of this team. Speed has improved with the additions of the kids but size is still a concern. I'm not convinced they can get it done in a more physical and defensive minded playoff series.

Weak call on Smith for the trip if you ask me. People blaming Smith and Howard for this loss just prove you need a scapegoat. Not many goalies will stop a PP onetimer by Ovechkin when he gets to load up like that. -

rumor is that Z will be moved to wing and play with Backstrom and Franzen. So there's an idea for you. Now, personally I would like to see Z on a shut down line with Landeskog and Silverberg/Hagelin.

Detroit has a better record with Zetterberg only than Datsyuk only this season and I dont think it is coincidence. Now I dont necessarily want to trade Datsyuk (and I certainly dont expect it to happen) but it supports my standing that this team need a radical makeover. -

Well let's be honest Datsyuk is 35 and closer to the end of his career. I'm not sure what he'd be worth but if trading him means landing a top 6 power forward I would be interested. I think Smith has looked pretty good this season after a slow start. I think Smith can be every bit as good as Kronwall is and maybe more, so yes. -

Would be a great aquisition but I wonder about the asking price? There are already quite a few long term contracts on this team too. -

Yes. Detroit has played fairly well at times without Datsyuk this season (significantly better than without Zetterberg). Smith has improved a lot already but will only get better. He is yet to play a full season in the NHL and to trade him now would be incredibly stupid.
